- Tom Delonge joins Ted Stryker as they discuss Angels & Airwaves and how the new album LIFEFORMS came together...In the interview, Tom opens about about operating on the fringe for such a long time, the public questioning all is professional moves, from his departure from Blink 182 to "chasing aliens" to working with the US Government. Tom also discusses with Stryker his contract with the government in regards to a craft of unknown origin. Tom also talks about Blink 182 getting their record deal, the non-stop cycle Blink 182 was on and how that affected his personal and professional life. Tom opens up about his current relationship with Mark Hoppus, and how Mark's incredibly sad cancer diagnosis helped their friendship (episode was recorded just before Mark announced he was cancer free). Tom also tells a hilarious story of the time he approached an employee at Christopher Nolan's company Syncopy Films talking followed by his crazy encounter with Chris Nolan himself. The episode closes with a story about what happened when Blink 182's record company came to listen to the album Dude Ranch for the first time, and, how Tom deals with critics today.

Can I just thank you for the calm way you interview and how you actually let him talk, so that he gave us a piece of his mind this way? You asked all the right questions for him to give such answers to. This was such an interesting interview, easygoing and grounded but also deep and inspiring, while at the same time making me laugh and feel... at home. Without being cliché, I felt a lot of heart here from both of you, and it was beautiful. Thank you so much. Consider the use of "flying saucers" (UFOs) as a means of delivering atomic weapons. This is very important and relevant, due to the fact that air defense is sharpened against ballistic missiles and aircraft, and UFOs calmly overcome them. The risk threshold has decreased - an atomic war may begin.

Same to both of these one of my fav pairs of Jordan’s and did the same thing with my best friend on funnily enough the urethra chronicles part 1&2 DVD cuz we couldn’t afford them by ourselves so we saved our pocket money and got them and shared them with each other we’d have them on alternating weeks like some (sometimes unfortunately) broken homes lollll and burnout revenge and 3 were my equal favs hahah

I'm my opinion 'There Is' is one of the best songs ever written. Simple, catchy, pretty, doesn't over stay it's welcome. It's a perfect song!
I saw Angels and Airwaves on their very first tour in Oklahoma City. They still had Ryan Sinn on bass (who absolutely did not fit in imo). He did an AvA-esque cover of 'I Miss You' that was really cool. I remember hearing 'Do It For Me Now' for the first ever at that show and being blown away by it. My favorite part was when the whole band left the stage for Tom to tell a story about a guy with a big dick and then he was joined onstage by David Kennedy with his acoustic guitar and they played 'There Is' and the whole time they were doing the song Tom was dancing around David and randomly pinching his butt trying to screw him up. It was hilarious

I can say this about every song on that album but There Is, is an awesome one. It’s because we all can possibly relate
I am 52 years old, I started oof as a RUSH, Van Halen , Kiss ,ACDC, U2 Fan.. Then came along Blink and "oh thank God" ! a fucking cool rock band after all this boy band, and rythm and blues pop songs bands. Blink saved the day for me.
So when i first heard Euforia, I was reminded of Rush Tom Sawyer. I bet ILAN gets this because I know he respected Neil Peart as a great drummer/song writer.
Tom is and has always been way ahead of his time. It’s nice to see him well and getting the recognitions and respect he deserves.
Like everyone is saying, this is one of the best Tom Delonge interviews in a long time. Really highlights how a good host makes the interview (compared to that horrible Joe Rogan interview where he just wanted to poke fun at Tom)

I love how Tom acts like he never grew out if being a Teenager but then is able to talk about serious stuff love that guy
This is so cool because I grew up on Blink, the teenage angst that came about due to the uncertainty of growing up and the frustration of growing, and here Tom is as a grown ass man sounding as confident and comfortable as ever in his accomplishments. Really a full circle character arch for this man. It's beautiful.

I don’t care what the world has said about this man over the years, or what we’re told to feel about him. He has been a pivotal influence in my life for over 20 years, and shaped who I am.. I will follow him to the stars and beyond. It helps he’s the most delightful human being on earth.
I feel like Tom got way more humble and grounded in recent years. I remember getting to meet him at one of the Blink reunion shows and he wasn't this outgoing and friendly.
Anyone who gets seriously involved in the phenomenon becomes humbled. Didn't know he wanted to become a firefighter. I was one for 4 years.
Yeah, I honestly don't think he was all that happy during the reunion years; you could tell he felt creatively stifled. It's why I'm honestly okay if he never rejoins Blink, especially if it's better for his mental health in the long run.

This record hit so hard for me. I saw Angels last night in Boston and I felt that feeling that he was talking about wanting people to feel with this music. It was uplifting and gave me chills all over. This record, to me is the best work he’s done and I think a tribute to his influences with an Angel twist fit perfectly. I love the use of minor notes and synths. Time Bomb, Euphoria, Rebel Girl, Automatic, Losing My Mind, and Kiss and Tell we’re incredible live! Thank you Tom for your years of service to music!

any time i hear a tom blink song, it instantly takes me back to a time where life was simpler and i didnt have a care in the world and didnt want to die every day and hate waking up, and as a musician i can absolutely understand his feeling of wanting to do better every time, but as a human being i think old blink was exactly what the world needed or at least exactly what i needed, like if it was any better or any worse it wouldnt have been so captivating or as influential as it is and it wouldnt have resonated with people as much. i feel the same way about boxcar, any time i hear "and i" i zone out to old memories of the best days of my life hanging out at the skatepark with my friends and then i come back to reality and i catch myself smiling. its like the whole time im listening, my shoulders dont feel so heavy
Tom has been a huge inspiration to me since I was 15. I have followed him through everything he has done, and I think he has incredibly rare talent. He also seems like a nice decent guy.
Not many famous people I'd love to meet but Tom is right up there. I know he wouldn't have time for me but I reckon I could talk to him for hours. Great guy comes across like a really nice guy. Great interview man really enjoyed it!

Great interview. I'm so glad there is this form of interviewing nowadays, so that the interviewer can invite whoever he likes, because back when we only had TV interviews, I swear, most of the times they were the most boring thing ever, always the same questions about who produced the album or something, and rarely if ever you would get to see an interviewer who really loved the band and asked about the music itself and the band and what inspires them and all that. I really hope Tom knows what a big impact he and Blink182 had on a generation and I'm grateful I was there to see it all happen.

I love the Box Car Racer album. There is - was the song I sang to my son all night, when he was born 6 weeks early and my wive still had surgery done.
I told him about this, when he was three yours old and now he is asking me all the time, if I could sing this song for him again.
I'm glad I got to meet Tom and had the chance to give him a bit hug and thank him for all the great moments I had with his songs.
This is the first Tom interview I've watched since the Joe Rogan interview and it was good to hear Tom able to go a few minutes at a time without being asked about some super secret government things he either doesn't know about or simply can't comment on either way. That aside, Thank you Tom Delonge. I used to play the mark tom and Travis show on repeat with my guitar in hand and then later take off your pants and jacket and boxcar. I would play along with you guys for hours everyday, until I eventually started improvising over you, and that taught me so much about music. I don't wanna understate it you basically taught me guitar. Thank you.

I have seen alot of interviews in my day. Ive seen a few of Delonge and he is not an easy oe to interview at times, as his adhd can act up sometimes. I have to say not only was this one of the finest interviews Ive ever seen in general but one of the best for Tom. Great job Ted.
