- Hie Lovely people! It’s been a while, it’s good to be back. Welcome to another episode of #GoingCandid where I have decided to open up conversation concerning getting your driver’s license in either Zimbabwe or South Africa. I got mine from Zimbabwe so I am sharing from that experience but I have also heard that the issue of having to pay a bribe is common in South Africa too. How do we remedy such discrepancies in our society? I would love to engage with you on the subject in the comment section.

I am a young adult Zimbabwean and Christian TH-camr based in South Africa. No license yet. Took the provisional test twice and they expired before I could get to the road test- something always came up.
What I'll teach my kids? I hope to help them see the beauty of the things God loves like justice and righteousness and the ultimate worth of God so they can believe for themselves that nothing is worth God's disapproval.

Thank you. We really need these conversations. I recently went for a provisional test and I was told to skip instructions. Then the ladies sat in the test room chatting on top of their voices, making it difficult to concentrate. I am sure they wanted me to fail and pay. Fortunately I quickly figured out what to do on my own and I passed. They were not very happy because they got nothing from me. I am worried about the actual road test. I am a Christian and I don't want to pay a bribe. I am praying.

That whole process frustrated me soooo much! Before getting my provs, I went 5 timessss!! Until ndatozoenda kuChivhu, that’s where I passed on my 5th attempt.. for drivers test, I went 3 times..the 3rd time, my instructor literally told me I have to pay so I pass 🙄 I didn’t wanna pay, so I didn’t go for the test..Still haven’t got my drivers license though cause my provisional ended up expiring😓 I’d never been soooo frustrated like the way I was when it came to getting a mere Driver’s License 😭
Now I really wanna get my license, but I don’t want to do the bribe thing.. I’m definitely praying about it.. things like this shouldn’t be hard for a Child of God 💯

In Zimbabwe its almost impossible to get driver's license without paying bribe. Its actually bad thing to do according to biblical principles. How can you balance the two, whilst you really want to get you licence and you want to please Lord by not paying bribe?

It is a frustrating process the honest one because it's not based on merit but on finding an honest officer which is rare. I think chijairira and us as people don't contest so they know there's always some1 willing to pay. It is sad really sad that the honest one ends up being bitter and losing out on money and time and convenience. Hameno kuti zvopera sei honestly
That’s my concern too because it seems to be getting worse and worse by the day and we need to find long lasting solutions and not just be complacent .
The video was just a tip of the iceberg when it comes to Corruption. Corruption has became a culture in our modern times. For corruption to change, the culture must also change. It will never be easy to eradicate corruption because when done the same agents who will implement the initiative also takes bribery.
I once told a policeman i had no cold drink money after i did something and he took me to an ATM😂.

The little skit was hilarious and so accurate😂😂😂😂...The aggression they have when you haven't paid the bribe is so much!!! Best thing to do is to do the test in the small towns otherwise they will fail you again and again 😭

it is just how capitalism is. Where there is demand there is supply.. If everyone would just go there 6 -7 times they would let it go however the cost and time of doing it 6-7 times i much higher than doing it 1 time and paying extra.
Here is a good point. If getting a license was USD1 in total there wont be corruption. I mean why would you pay extra if you can come back everyday to try again.. They will feel the pain of doing more work

You mean Driving theory? There are usually books sold as well as the Highway Code that you can study. I know you can purchase these at or just outside VID in Eastlea, Harare.

No unfortunately you can’t. You’d have to do the test in Zim physically 🤍

Yes there is. You’d have to do the theory test to get your provisional license. There’s no set period on how long you can take . All depends on how fast you learn and do the tests .
