The thumbnail with an arrow to that Bible and the words “Yikes” is absurd! That is the Ethiopian Bible, which is the oldest illustrated Bible in history that didn’t get affected by the Catholic Church. It is the best example of what the early followers were reading as a whole.

Did Mohammed think the New Testament was perverted? Im not aware that the quran speaks negatively about the Torah or the Gospel. Which is a great point to use when witnessing to Muslims.
Although Its true the quran borrows from the gnostic writtings.

      A question for you, Ruslan...
As a young Christian I depended on teachers more than learning to read and study God's word myself. And because I wasn't testing everything I was being taught (as per 1 Thess 5:21, Acts 17:11), I accepted some false doctrines (especially pertaining to eschatology) that, only after learning to be a good Berean, I was able to discern as false. Once I had learned to properly study and exegete scripture, many of my views changed (for the better, no doubt).
One of the essential things I learned in my process of learning was that one's eschatological paradigm will control, consciously or not, what his views of many other doctrines will be... even his views on salvation. I'm curious as to Jordan Peterson's understanding of eschatology... and just about everyone else I meet.
So, I'm curious, Ruslan... what is your eschatological position, and how did you arrive at it? Has it ever changed (as mine did)? Have you done any videos on this topic, that is, how our various beliefs are controlled by our eschatological views?

No one wants to do the hard thing and abandon their deadly sins. I also fell for the “my God won’t send anyone to hell” because I didn’t understand that it’s not God who sends people to hell. WE send ourselves by refusing to do His will as best as we can. He knows we aren’t perfect but he also knows when we aren’t even trying because of pride and our hard heads wanting to do everything we want regardless of it being good or bad for us.
His mercy allowed for my heart to be softened and open to His Holy Spirit and Will.
      Viva Christo Rey.

The amount of people that have absolutely no idea about Gnosticism blows my mind. “Knowledge of God” isn’t looked at as simple memorization of scripture. That’s insanely wrong. It’s knowledge through empathy, which is a part of deification. But, the Christian mind is subject to the same pitfalls as the ones they criticize.

Alex has been talking about the gnostic gospels a lot the last month or so. I think Ruslan is right, I think Alex has been doing this to prepare for this discussion with Jordan. I think it didn’t go how he expected it to at all though.
I don’t think Alex expected Jordan to finally come out and say he thinks the bodily resurrection happen. In that case he would have tried to tie Jordan’s view on Christianity to Gnosticism. If that worked it would have separated Jordan from so many of his Christian audience. I think Jordan surprised him by saying he believes the resurrection.
Then I think Alex continues down the path of other gnostic gospels because he thinks it’s a good way to discredit Christianity. Then Jordan perfectly dispels the gnostic beliefs and speaks about how miraculously brilliant the orthodox Christian metaphysics is. So, I think this completely backfired on Alex. Not only did he not get to label Jordan as a Gnostic Christian. Jordan says I very much believe orthodox Christianity because I think it’s true.

Something the Apostolic churches do well is recognizing that we are embodied beings. There is a greater temptation for Protestants to separate our bodies from our spirits, which leads to gnosticism and the idea that the body is always bad. Protestants CAN avoid these pitfalls, but it's more difficult for them because they've generally abandoned the physical traditions, like kneeling, crossing yourself, etc.

While the gnostic gospels are associated w/ the Gnostic community of early Christians, we’re sorta conflating two separate things here. Most scholars believe that the Gospel of Thomas was likely composed around the same time frame as the canonical texts, predating the existence of Gnosticism. The gnostics just happened to gravitate towards some of these “gnostic” texts (like the Gospel of Thomas) & also had their own unique interpretations of the canonical texts - the Gospel of Thomas doesn’t support the notion of a demiurge or even formulate the basis of Gnostic theology, it’s largely congruent w/ the canonical texts. But yes, the last “saying” in the Gospel of Thomas about women becoming men is quite bizarre.

While it is true that gnostic is more focused on spiritual than material. The rejection of material is the rejection of the physical self. The “goal” in the gnostic teachings is to shed the material self - the fleshly body, and to become spirits with no physical bodies.
This is why 1 John is so important when it says Jesus physically rose from the dead and the Greek tense shows it as a perfect tense meaning it happened and He continues to be in bodily form. This is to counter the gnostic teachings of that time.
The gnostic idea that we all go to heaven and live as spirits has infiltrated the Church. It is very rare to hear about our physical bodies being in the restored kingdom.

The fact that all of these who so desperately need for the resurrection to be false, cling to the same obvious inversion of truth which proceeds straight from the mouth of Satan, in and of itself testifies that Christ alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If not, then Satan would not need to come against Him so strongly, using every instrument he has deceived into serving his will. The whole world testifies to the truth in Christ, especially those who oppose Him.
Side Note: When dealing with someone who talks out of both sides of their mouth like this. You are either dealing with a serpent, or a fool, and inside the heart of the fool is the serpent who deceives him.

The Apostles willingness to be killed not for saying they believed Jesus had risen, but they knew he had risen, because they saw him.
If the tomb wasn't empty, they would've paraded the body around to stomp out any idea of Jesus being ressurrected, but Christianty spread because there was no body in the tomb.
If someone stole the body, why were nearly all the Apostles willing to be killed for saying they'd seen Jesus risen? They were thousands of miles away from one another before phones and the internet and were being threaten, tortured, and murdered for their claim. Not one "broke" and said it was a lie to save themselves.
The archeology matches the Bible perfectly all the way from Genesis through the New Testament.
We have the writing of the disciples of the Apostles and the disciples of those disciples, and they not only quote much of the New Testament, but all the core idea of Christianty are present. Jesus being God, the Son of God, dying for sins, burial, resurrection, ascension to heaven.
We also have writing of Jewish and Pagan contemporary historians who were hostile towards Jesus, who say the same things : Jesus being worshipped as God, the Son of God, dying for on the cross, burial, resurrection.
The fact that there are contradictions between manuscripts is often sited as proof against trusting scripture, when it actually does the opposite. The fact that there are so many manuscripts makes it easy to tell when someone changed one, and modern Bibles are transparent about any differences in the footnotes. None of those differences found between manuscripts change anything about any core doctrines of Christianity, they are mainly a handwriting error on a letter or a different way to word something that means the same thing.
There is also all the undisigned coincidence between not only the four Gospels, but the rest of the New and Old Testaments too.
Matthew 2:22 talks about Joseph not wanting to return to Judea after fleeing to Egypt because Archelaus was ruling. That's all the info on that the Bible gives. Josephus, the Jewish historian, tells us about the things Archelaus did and how evil he was. Put these two peices of evidence together, we get the full picture.
This sort of thing happens through the text with the seemingly useless details matching up perfectly with extra Biblical sources, lending to the credibility of the text.
It's because of the evidence that I believe in Jesus.

What strikes me about this conversation regarding Gnosticism and Protestantism (being a former Protestant) is how it relates to the Body of Christ and The Church. On one hand @RuslanKD and other Protestants (myself included when I was a Protestant) are saying it’s essential to hold to Jesus having been raised with a literal body, one in which you can see, touch, feel, etc. and then at the same time hold to “The Church” as The Body of Christ to be ethereal, amorphous, invisible 🫥, etc. As though both The Body and The Spirit are similar or the same in being unseeable and untouchable. However, you may KNOW (gnosis) both the Spirit and The Church (and Christ and the Father) by reading about it, studying it, and having someone teach you about it. Then the Gospel is often presented as a secret being revealed, “Do you know where you will spend eternity tonight if you died tonight?” As though some unknowing person has no clue about their eternal destiny and will be consigned to hell unless they too gain this knowledge and believe in this information that will allow their spirit to escape this earth and hell when they die. Then many of them (not all) no longer serve the Eucharist weekly (maybe monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or on the whim of the pastor when it ties into his/her sermon) and that bread/wine is either a symbol or metaphor about His Body but isn’t His Body. Then to pray to God one must bow their head and close their eyes (to engage the mind?) and often remain very still (don’t involve your body in any way such as with prostrations…it might disrupt the connection of your spirit to the Spirit???).
I used to wonder why we held revivals and why we were always searching for the Spirit growing up as a Protestant. Wasn’t the Spirit given to The Church at Pentecost? Does He leave and come back? Can He only be in one local church “body” at a time?
I found it odd that thousands were driving from all over the country to attend the revival at Asbury Theological Seminary to witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I would think, isn’t the Spirit in YOUR church? I then found it equally bizarre that at some point the leadership was like, “Listen, we got to end the outpouring of the Spirit and get back to business as usual. We’re a college after all and we can’t just be engaging with God on a regular basis.” How are we supposed to teach ABOUT God if everyone is busy experiencing God?
Which it then made me equally worried for many people, many Protestants, whenever the time comes and people begin to say, “Here is Christ” or “He’s over there” or “He’s in the desert” or “in this or that inner room” as it seems many people will abandon their church and flock to another place because “The Church” to them isn’t a definable, tangible, touchable, Body that can be seen and known and found, but rather is ultimately an invisible ethereal thing only discerned through gnosis.

“Some moralists are indifferent to the physical world--they see it as "unimportant", while many others are downright afraid of physical pleasure. Since they are seeking to earn their salvation, they prefer to focus on sins of the physical like sex and the other appetites. These are easier to avoid than sins of the spirit like pride. Therefore, they prefer to see sins of the body as worse than other kinds. As a result, legalism usually leads to a distaste of pleasure. On the other hand, the relativist is often a hedonist, someone who is controlled by pleasure, and who makes it an idol. The gospel leads us to see that God has invented both body and soul and so will redeem both body and soul, though under sin both body and soul are broken. Thus the gospel leads us to enjoy the physical (and to fight against physical brokenness, such as sickness and poverty), yet to be moderate in our use of material things.”

All sin is rooted in pride.

I think you are missing out on how Gnosticism and internal Western Alchemy works, at least in this age. In the Gospel of Thomas, Jesus is speaking metaphorically, not literally. There is an integration of Dark and Light, Masculine and Feminine. Gnosticism is about knowing more externally, but internally. So when he is talking about making her male it he is referring to her integrating her Male or Masculine side.

Regarding the gospel of Thomas it seems to be a mix of an older more authentic text and a gnostic text. It has several linguistic marks that might imply it has two authors a century apart. Society use to value only the material but now it's the opposite. Society now values more the mind/spiritual over the material. Surely believing in the bodily resurrection takes believing in God in the first place... so, Alex wouldn't see his line of questioning the same way you would. He's just a young man who read a bunch of lauded texts that seem to depict things out of whack with what his experience of living is, the same way so many others (prominent or otherwise) haven't wrapped their heads around Christianity - not to relieve themselves of any extra responsibility but to take care not to end up believing something that isn't true.
There are a bunch of atheists out here who just don't want to be duped. Some grew up with Christians who set a bad example, unknowingly, just by holding to marriages they were miserable in or unwittingly rebuking their children when they only meant to rebuke behaviour. Many atheists saw and were stung by ugly lives lived in the name of Christianity, and wondered, "Where is this inner peace you all speak of? Where's this love that leaves you utterly compelled to make sublime sacrifices?"
There is a very clear difference between struggling to believe and avoiding a belief. It'd be a great shame to ostracise the former, much less telling of the state of the Christian who does so.
TLDR: Alex is definitely just curious. He's 25.

The gospel of Thomas says "resembling males". It doesn't say anything about disfiguring or mutilation of any kind. Resembling means 'to appear in such a way', not 'to take the form of'.

God has made the bible. Through people that had the holy spirit (God's spirit) the rest is not important or is false! If you are a true beleaver you have it too and know the truth! God bless you all sweet people! And beware of false prophets in the End times! Be careful!
