    I usually cut off people who make fun of King's X. King's X is up there with the magic of the Beatles and Pantera. Criminally Underrated

      you are unfortunately absolutely right.....that's why people should trash this so called music of today and start listening to real music made by real people playing real instruments.....then we wouldn't have to wait for a tragedy to occur in order to realize how great a band is...

      you are totally right....being an '80s rocker I am guilty of tight spandex and big hair...with that said,,,we wrote great music that a lot of work went into and practiced our stage act until it was spot on....something I believe to be sadly missing from today's computer generated so called music.....the human factor has been so eliminated from it it's not even music anymore....just a bunch of computer geeks sampling everything in sight and calling it original.....sorry...original music is hard to conceive and even harder to write....if it was easy everyone would be doing it...

    • @rogerkoob9904
      @rogerkoob9904 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@duncefunce1513 my first band in the'80s was called " one way street"...we played mostly original music,,,which was not exactly hair metal although we had the hair metal look....our music was hard rock....our singer eddiewas totally into steven tyler but really had a very unique style,,,our drummer bobby was into ian paice(he was also left handed),,Chris our bassist was into everything and I'm into all the classic rock guitarists and satch,,Steve vai,,,yngwie,,al dimeola,,van halen pretty much anyone who's good..we were really good....but after 10 years of playing and not really getting anywhere....I got disillusioned with the whole thing and went back to school to learn a trade....which I never got a job at so I became a commercial roofer....I moved to Boston and I put together a deep purple tribute band and found some amazing musicians up there....I found a keyboardist who sounded so much like Jon Lord he was amazing....we just couldn't find a singer who could sing like ian gillian,,david coverdale and glenn hughes,and Joe lynn turner...a very tall order indeed...so that ended and I started doing studio work..

    Remember the first time I heard this track. I'd read about them in a guitar mag and thought I'd check it out. Gretchen had not long been out and this song blew me the hell away with all that massive drop D and 12 string bass goodness. Ty's tone is still one the greatest you'll hear. Oh and those wonderful harmonies. Instantly hooked I was and it all still sounds as good 20+ years later as it did back then. They are such a great band it's hard to put into words and to boot top fellas as well.

    Found out about King's X from an interview with Vernon Reid from Living Colour in Rolling Stone magazine. I think it was after LC's first album. He was asked what he was listening to and he mentioned "Gretchen goes to Nebraska" by King's X and a few other albums. I went out got it and was blown away...

    I feel a deep connection with this band. Was there at the beginning, when shot of love was in heavy rotation on Houston stations. I learned drop d tuning from these guys. Pioneers of grunge without the recognition. The two harmonics at the end are the same ones that start Jeremy. They do so much better in a small venue. There's a connection that is shared by the audience. Just as powerful as Rush. Trailblazers like Cream and Triumph. Vocals like the Beatles. Enormous talent.

    What stands out here is the disservice that late '80s album production did to their true sound. Gretchen doesn't even come close to capturing that bass tone; the best that can be said is that it hints at it.

    I met the band very recently listening to KXM, with Georg Lynch, Ray Luzier and Dug Pinnick, in the end it is a sensational work. Now King's X is undoubtedly one of the most incredible bands I've ever heard, the spontaneous fusion of Beatles and Trapeze, a sabbatical atmosphere. The band is powerful with only three members a perfect symphony, I stopped to listen to all the albums, they are masterpieces of Rock. I'm already an unconditional fan. King's X is awesome.

      Go and get their full catalog and listen to this band beginning with the first cd and work your way to the present. Experience this amazing trio and they will take you through a musical journey of pure ear candy.

    I agree with Real Cougars. Kings's X always sounds great, live or in the studio! This is an awesome tune, impeccably performed!

      The audio is from a different show, somewhat synced to the video. He screwed up the harmonics at the end of the video performance… Ty gave him the side eye…
