Context: I had like, 10+ emails in my spam folder with anything regarding them.
What exactly is this
I had a similar experience, but worse because I think my university was in on it. A similar organisation called "Golden Key" or some cr@p like that used my university's letterhead and seal to send a letter to me inviting me to join their "honor society" due to my good grades (tbh I was on the Dean's List so I didn't think this wasn't strange at first) then I found out it was just a glorified phone list of other people who graduated with above-than-averge results, put together by some shady university official. To "join the membership" I'd need to pay an annual subscription fee. Needless to say I didn't join. I should have reported that scam, but I lost the letter.
Report them to the nearest related authorities. You can't receive pieces of marketing without having the freedom to opt out. It's a shady business practice and something that can land the company in hot water
I almost fell for the Vector Knifes one. Thankfully, I wasn’t paying too much attention when he was explaining the steps we needed to take to join, so I got kicked from the seminar since they weren’t willing to re-explain it to me. First time my ADHD helped me in life
The arrest and bail scam will never work on my father

I had a "deaf" person give my friends and I the cards looking for donations. When he was done giving them to everyone in our train car, I screamed HEY. He turned around, we laughed and he walked out of the car without trying to get and money.
I remember many years ago, putting my name into a raffle at a fish and chip shop here in Australia.
I was notified that although I didn't win, I was invited to a presentation with a free lunch.
The seminar was a company trying to sell time shares, so I noped out of that.
Never did end up getting the free lunch!
I used to work at charity stands on the high street. A young woman ran up to us while we were setting up, shouting about how her brother had just been stabbef and she needed to use my phone. I asked her who she wanted me to call, but she insisted I give her my phone to make the call. Again I said we could call anyone she wanted to, but I would call them for her. She swore and stormed off. If it was a real emergency she would have accepted my call, never give anyone your phone
We were scammed by a timeshare company. If you attended an hour-long session on timeshares, you would get a small black and white tv. We sat through the session but did not sign up to purchase the timeshare. We left with the cute little tv. There was no cord with the tv, and you could not buy a cord for the tv. So you had a little tv that you could never watch. The cord only accompanied the tv if you bought a timeshare. The scam was set up in a major tourism area.
Bathrooms are free anywhere that serves made to order food in Canada.
I recently was at a bar in Halifax, the bathrooms had a bouncer and a 5$ fee.
They served multiple forms of snacks.
Unfortunately for them, they also built nachos on the table for you.
That made the bathroom free to customers.
It wasn't worth the fight until my drunk GF peed herself because we didn't have cash and she didn't wanna bother me to leave.
That fucking bar owner stopped serving ALL food after I got into an argument with him and reported the site.
He closed up that same summer.
Turns out any other bar with free bathrooms and snacks was a better choice.

Story 37 reminds me of the time I sent in a poem I wrote for a contest. I got something in the mail that said I got honorable mention. Then they sent something along the lines of if I send a certain amount of money they would send me a book with my poem in it. I didn't send them anything since I knew it was a scam.
The Who's Who! Haaaaa! My mom was so surprised and delighted that I had been "nominated" even though my grades barely got by... all the other kids listed had NHS, band, all these clubs and awards listed... mine was just my name, haha!
I got a call at work the other day and it was some woman with an Indian accent saying "Hello sir, I am from Amazon Customer Support" and I turned to my coworker laughing "It's a scam call" put my phone back to my mouth with a sarcastic tone "Hello Amazon Customer Support, how are you today?" She just said "I"m fucking great" and I laughed saying "Fuck outta here" and hung up on her
I got the rental car on the border under my name, I put it on speaker so the office could hear..it got to the line were they said 5 kilos of coke was found. I said what??? Did you guys pinch a couple kilos I had 7.... she said f you and hung up
Insurance is a scam they take your money but don’t pay out unless you sue
My grandpa got scammed, I don't remember what scam it was I think it was something with the "government", they asked for $500 in Google play store gift cards, and he ended up giving them to the scammer
My dad and I have a code word for anything like a kidnapping or large money transfer thing, specifically because of scammers like this

With all of these pyramid schemes, I might as well buy and distribute drugs.
The bail scam won’t work on my parents. As my mom says, "If you get yourself in there, you can get yourself out." Meaning serve the sentence. So yeah, again. This scam won't work on my parents, specifically my mother, that would be all they will hear.
MLM schemes and games that claim to pay you money for playing them
My sister almost got scammed with a check. She was selling her Wii for $100 when she got a check in the mail from this guy for $500 with the instructions to cash it, take out her money and send the rest along with the Wii to him. My sister is completely naive and her mouth absolutely salivates at the mention of money. Luckily me and her mom were there and told her to have the bank check it out. My sister is on disability and if that check had been cashed, they'd have deducted it from her account when finding out it was a bad check and that money would have came directly out of her direct deposited check. I'm thinking the reason it was for $500 is that's the maximum amount a personal check can be written for without the bank putting a mandatory hold on it until it clears. The check was real but it was from a stolen checkbook. Dunno if they ever caught the guy.
Generic Synthroid has some sort of filler in it and gave me seb derm. Got on name brand and my skin and scalp cleared up no problem

I got called by "Interpol" once. Woman had an African accent with a number from my country. I just hung up and blocked the number. I mean I'm glad it's that easy sometimes, but how stupid do you think I am?

People will come up to you in a parking lot and give you a sob story about being from some faraway city and having lost their wallet and need money to get home. They will offer gold jewelry eg. a ring or necklace for way less than the cost of the “ gold” it is copper.
Anytime when you receive a strange email/text/call asking for money
Your caller id will pick up if they're genuine and are from the fire station/animal rescue

For people who frequent places with art commissions, if somebody from out of left field asks you to commission them, it's likely bullshit. Another example is something about an "Art room" or whatever the fuck it is, it's like a 3d model thing. But the people who offer to make you one are also bullshitting you. Initially I thought it was legit (foolish me) since I could get a neat asset for a VRchat world I want to make, then when I was told the overall price and how much I'd have to spend initially, I tried to bargain but at some point I smelled fish when they told me about bill they have to pay when I kept repeating that I'm also too broke and the final nail in the coffin was something about the "Deal being locked in", like bitch we didn't make any kind of agreement yet, nothing was locked in. After that I blocked them and the person who referred me to them as well.
