I did this tour in Atlanta Georgia in 2009. What an amazing experience. I would love to do this again.

I enjoyed this a lot. May I suggest that perhaps from time to time you take a day to get around like this? I was just thinking perhaps if every now and again you have a day where you make yourself totally blind it may help tackle some of the fears you have and if one day you were to lose the rest of your vision maybe the transition/learning curve wouldn't be so hard. Also would you consider taking some of your students there if the school allowed? I love that you're trying to show the positivity in blindness as i try to do the same myself, if you ever need advice from someone who's done the whole spectrum of vision loss I'm always happy for a new friend

Thanks a lot :-) I think even just doing for an hour every now and then might be good! Or just trying specific daily tasks with eyes closed occasionally....
I teach college freshmen mostly, and what I teach is not really relevant to this experience, but I have to get friends to go, and other colleagues teaching other subjects are planning to take their students! The place also receives lots of grade school trips!

Great video! I think I would have initially been afraid to do such an experience because the thought of total darkness as a visually impaired individual is frightening to me- but being able to take part in a controlled environment like this with support along the way to get you through as you’ve described would maybe help dissipate some of the fears- I like your comment about people learning empathy over sympathy- 👀

Still binge watching with my little girl and still crying my eyes out with gratuity for your content I hope actually done the blindfold thing and turned off the lights around the house and navigated my way through on purpose so I could learn what it's like when my daughter has the days when her diminishing low vision is absolutely nothing and she's terrified in the dark not being able to see for hours So Is much confirmation and affirmationfor so much of what my husband and I have learned about our little girl I wish we could attend stuff like that but it's just impossible for us Are transportation is not reliable enough and we live so far out in the middle of nowhere there's not even public transportation taxi cabs Uber or Lyft lol So Fortunately It's a nice safe little tiny town in the middle of the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania However It's been a whole new world for us as she is our youngest of six children and none of the other ones have any type of impairments or disabilities so she is very much babyed by them lol Thank you so much I can't stop saying thank you
