NOT A SPOILER JUST CLARIFYING SOME THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN THE EPISODE First thing's first, don't assume that characters in anime are automatically Japanese. It's understandable since you just started watching it, but plenty of anime take place in other or completely fictional places. A good tip is to look at the names, not the appearance. Eren Jaeger, Jean Kirstein, Sasha Brouse, Connie Springer, etc. are all European names while Mikasa is a Japanese one. Second, as you suspected those men were human traffickers who were trying to kidnap Mikasa and her mom because they are the only Asians. They killed the dad because he's white. So Mikasa if half-Asian half-Caucasian (which is why her last name, Ackerman, isn't Japanese). The flashback took place 6 years before the present, so Eren and Mikasa were 9. I also just wanted to say, I'm loving your reactions so far. You guys actually take time to process the mountains of information thrown at you and discuss it which shows how invested you are and how much respect you have for the creators of the show and your audience. Year 848 - 850: They spend 3 years in training and then graduate, choosing which regiment to join. The trio is now 15 and this brings is to present day in the battle of Trost.
In AOT, words often have a very important meaning. When watching, if you want to talk to the person next to you, it's better not to turn to the side and talk while watching the video.
There is somebody who used the radius of the walls to calculate the size of the walled city, and entire area inside of the walls is a bit bigger than Texas.
People were talking for you to look out for episode 5 as it is the episode of the death of the main character. You guys got confused into thinking it was episode 6 they were talking about.
I have always taken the breaking of the floorboards and the crushing of the knife handle to be her pushing past her body's own natural inhibitions similar to those stories of moms lifting cars off their babies or people getting sudden bursts of strength in life or death situations. The human body is MUCH stronger than we can access normally, however if we do use our body to its absolute limit normally like that it would cause damage to us, adrenaline is a hell of a thing. I mean she was in a life or death situation and she desperately wanted to save Eren so I would say that checks off both examples I gave of people having done those things so it makes the most sense to me.
I'd rather they pause the video than talk over it. Getting info from comments isn't the same as from the show, bro😂 anyway look forward to the next episode🎉🎉🎉
It was not an anime style, she actually broke the floorboard and the knife handle, that was genuinely a strange feat of strength for someone her age and size.

But I used to drag through half an episode at a time and then it just suddenly grabbed me and I couldn't stop watching. All I noticed for 5 episodes at first was potato girl lol. Don't you think it does suddenly speed up after this point?
i thoroughly enjoy the talking & theorizing!! it’s way better than watching blank-faced and not really absorbing anything. feel free to pause as often as you’d like in order to avoid missing crucial details while talking!
So ya'll were wondering about where all these people are from, it's implied it's some sort of Germanic group. AoT actually has very strong parallels to Germany. You can see it in the names for instance. Eren Jaeger Armin Arlert Reiner Braun Sasha Braus Bertholdt Hoover That's also why the buildings look like they belong to Europe, as you pointed out in Ep. 1. So Mikasa is Asian so her name sounds very much Japanese. By the way, the correct way to pronounce Mikasa is with emphasis on the "I": "MEE-kah-sah" not "Me-KAH-sa"
I wanna add to this whole talking through info, honestly it is true that it ain’t that deep but AOT is one of the most complex series out there where if you miss a sentence you can miss an entire revelation, even tho that’s starting more like season 2. But I still enjoy watching your reactions
NO SPOILERS BELOW JUST MENTIONING FUN FACTS AND TALKING ABOUT THE EPISODE! Eren and Mikasa's hometown Shiganshina is based on a real place in Bavaria, Germany called Nördlingen. As well as some of the opening songs having German lyrics so its believed that most of the characters currently in the show are German or at least based off of Germans, which makes Mikasa who is Asian extremely rare as not many of them were able to make it inside the walls. That's why those men wanted her and her mother because they would've sold for a high price in a human trafficking situation.
you guys miss some important plot points talking about useless stuff like mikasa breaking the damned knife handle. Pay attention, save these discussions for the end. Every second of this show is super duper important.
Im actually so surprised that these guys didnt understand what those guys were doing when they were killing mikasas parents and like what they wanted to do. Like are boys not taught about human trafficking? Are only girls warned about this?}
You guys are kind lucky watching this AFTER the series ended. One because you can watch it all at your own pace. Two because you won't have everyone in social media making terrible memes about the simplest of things. And three because you won't have to wait YEARS for a new season to come out, like most people did.
hey just to let you guys know, I'm pretty sure you have the wrong subtitles, cause they keep say Abbherent instead of Abnormal titan, and there's certain phrases that aren't said in the original. not sure where you're watching it but it if it has a different english subtitles option then i think consider changing it to a different one.
If you have to kill someone, in order to protect someone, no matter what you do, in some sort of way you still *want* to kill... you have to want it... to make it actually happen. You don't sit there in "happy thoughts" about "how you are protecting" someone the moment you pull the trigger, or the knife penetrates their flesh, for that second you *want* to kill them, and you can feel sad or angry too, both maybe either way, most people will keep stabbing someone to death many times and like forget how many times they do it and just keep stabbing over and over, just because the *goal* is to kill them. One stab doesn't do it and if its your first time you kinda just go till the moving stops. (too many cop/detective shows, commonplace behavior)
Please stop reading the comments. You're going to make a mistake doing that. People are going to spoil without meaning to so please please please stop!
It's fine to miss a few things. Some people r just too critical with stuff. It's good that you're all discussing things properly, and take the time to really read the mid-episode info. Btw, getting 10k likes in a single video is too high a hurdle for your channel at the moment. That's why dude's so quick to agreeing. 20k views is feasible though. It's already at 19k now.
2 suggestions for you guys: 1. Pause the show when you want to discuss what you're seeing. You're missing stuff thats being made very clear, such as the fact that the kidnapper's plan was to kill the father and sex traffic Mikasa and her mother. 2. Get a moderator that will go through comments and clean them up before you read them so you can freely interact with your viewers without having to worry about spoilers.
Please pay attention when you're watching this show. There's no filler in this anime and every dialogue is important information. Please pause if you want to talk. I'm begging you to fully appriciate this masterpiece.

But I used to drag through half an episode at a time and then it just suddenly grabbed me and I couldn't stop watching. All I noticed for 5 episodes at first was potato girl lol. Don't you think it does suddenly speed up after this point?
you guys have an amazing lighting
Being a killer at 9 is wild, AoT world is insane
15:30 I agree. Its a visual representation that Mikasa comes to its senses that they need to fight to be able to survive.
Eren was always a savage little rage monster - killed two men when he was nine.
Two men? Common innocent man who were just doing nothing particular and were minding their own business.
Keep going 1 upload each other day is a minimum. I wouldn't mind doing 2 episodes in a row.
They were 9 at that point guys and when the first episode took place they were 10 and now they are 15
Dude, can y'all just leave those discussions for the end of the video please. I mean, you need to watch this show being focused
New here, and I've been enjoying your reactions to AoT a lot!
i thoroughly enjoy the talking & theorizing!! it’s way better than watching blank-faced and not really absorbing anything. feel free to pause as often as you’d like in order to avoid missing crucial details while talking!
We back
you will learn a lot of lore and stuff through the like grey pictures that appear every few minutes
You can pause just like what you did later on the video. Good thing the person onthe left is listening and watching.
Don't read the comments too much guys! really enjoying these more frequent reactions to AOT!!! Season 2 gets CRAZY
So ya'll were wondering about where all these people are from, it's implied it's some sort of Germanic group. AoT actually has very strong parallels to Germany. You can see it in the names for instance.
Eren Jaeger
Armin Arlert
Reiner Braun
Sasha Braus
Bertholdt Hoover
That's also why the buildings look like they belong to Europe, as you pointed out in Ep. 1. So Mikasa is Asian so her name sounds very much Japanese.
By the way, the correct way to pronounce Mikasa is with emphasis on the "I":
"MEE-kah-sah" not "Me-KAH-sa"
Great reaction guys! Loving these ❤❤❤
I wanna add to this whole talking through info, honestly it is true that it ain’t that deep but AOT is one of the most complex series out there where if you miss a sentence you can miss an entire revelation, even tho that’s starting more like season 2. But I still enjoy watching your reactions
They’re definitely gonna get spoiled 😂
The are handsome ofc
Don't read the comment guys, i beg you all.
Spoilers are soo easy to find
On the sword there’s triggers to deploy and they aim with them
suchhh a good episode! gives me chills everytime
they cut ankles to make them fall over
You can pause and discuss to prevent yourselves from overlooking dialogue.
Can't wait for more 😮
This is a non spoiler comment.
6:37 nice theory/analysis from the "anime-hater" dude.
Im actually so surprised that these guys didnt understand what those guys were doing when they were killing mikasas parents and like what they wanted to do. Like are boys not taught about human trafficking? Are only girls warned about this?}
You guys are kind lucky watching this AFTER the series ended.
One because you can watch it all at your own pace. Two because you won't have everyone in social media making terrible memes about the simplest of things.
And three because you won't have to wait YEARS for a new season to come out, like most people did.
I NEVER CLICKED SO FAST
Guys I like your attack on titan reactions so much!
Remember when the middle guy said that he thought anime was cringe and for kids?
hey just to let you guys know, I'm pretty sure you have the wrong subtitles, cause they keep say Abbherent instead of Abnormal titan, and there's certain phrases that aren't said in the original. not sure where you're watching it but it if it has a different english subtitles option then i think consider changing it to a different one.
You cut the ankle to knock them down and then grapple to them
If you have to kill someone, in order to protect someone, no matter what you do, in some sort of way you still *want* to kill... you have to want it... to make it actually happen.
Is the term "shooting from the hip" not a thing down under?
Guys pay attention! You'll need to pay attention to everything!
Please stop reading the comments. You're going to make a mistake doing that. People are going to spoil without meaning to so please please please stop!
THE GUY ON THE RIGHT IS SO FINE.
2 suggestions for you guys:
Seb is on point most of the time
No, all were talking about is episode 5 you guys are mistaken
You should pause when you want to discuss otherwise you might miss more important information in the future by talking over it.
i cant wait another reaction
Love you guys ❤
Thanks for your support! 😊
how these guys avoid this show for a decade is beyond me
Eren: Let’s go back to our home
Sound familiar?
See Eren wasn't in the wrong for killing those guys, but it is still crazy how he was able to do it so easily at such a young age
I think someone was waiting for this comment...
Charlie is cute too guys, c'mon.
There, now you can annoy him as well 🤣🤣
Just one thing
never read any AoT related comments or anything online that even has the name Aot in it till you finish the series
Sebastian’s such a hottie
