    Fun fact
Phil Brown is the only manager in EFL history to both win promotion to the premier league and be relegated to the national league.
He did the former with Hull City in 2008, and the latter when he took over at financially stricken Southend United in the final weeks of the 2020/21 season.
Quite a unique and contrasting stat to have on a CV.

When Hull City got rid of Phil Brown, they didn't sack him straight away: they put him on "Gardening Leave" until the end of the season...
This led to a particular joke going the rounds in Hull, as follows:
"I was walking past Phil Brown's house last Saturday afternoon and he was halfway through cutting his lawn, he was struggling with a big bag of grass cuttings that he was trying unsuccessfully to carry to his compost heap.
Thinking that he might need a little help, I asked: "OK Phil, can you manage?" to which he replied "If I could bloody manage, I wouldn't be on f*%#ing gardening leave!"

I'm writing this as a Fenerbahce fan, who knows Acun for a long time and based in Leeds. Acun is the Simon Cowell of Turkey, and even more as he producers other reality-game-like shows. As he repeatedly says in his interviews, he loves the game/gaming, no matter what the game is and what he is good at is he sells the game (tv productions). This year's Hull City squad mirrors his game loving character, which includes tons of risks. All the players he signed (especially ozan) have huge gaps in their potential ranges. Ozan can be the star of the Championship this year, but can also be booed by the half of the season... The danger is not Ozan, though. Acun thinks that he knows the game. That's why he signed Shota, an avarage manager that Acun can easily manipulate. Else, another manager wouldn't risk his coaching career in Acun's hands. I'm not sure if Acun knows the dynamics of the championship, or the football culture of Hull, or even the sociology of Yorkshire. He is using his successful marketing skills and popularising things. Even signing international players is a popularising tool so he makes the club even more visible (even in Turkey, Iran and even in Greece with the potential Dimitris Pelkas signing). Now, the Hull City fans seem happy with Acun, bcoz they were overly unhappy with the previous owners (a revenge happiness), but what Acun doing is changing the DNAs of the club and I doubt what it will look like in a few years. A big risk.
In a turkish press last month, Acun said "I am signing players from Turkish league, bcoz these are the players I've been following for couple of years, at least. This is an organic scouting. Then why would I need to scout other players?". This is nothing about Ozan, Tetteh or whoever, but such a mentality may bring a big danger to the club.
Lastly, I wanna put my own comments about the players for those who wonder.
Ozan: physically, he is a good dribbler and long distance shooter. He is not a chaser. His weakest point is his focus(mentality). He can easily can get demoralised and turns into rubbish.
Dogukan: he is physically good, good at dribbling and chasing. Unlike Ozan, he is good at off-the-ball zone. He doesn't hesitate to shoot and mostly finds the net. His team in the first half last season was wasted and Dogukan was lost in that team. In the 2nd half, with a new manager (Nuri Sahin), his team was the most successful in the league and Dogukan was the star. What I can say is, he is not a leader/mature player. If HullCity can be a 'team' this season, I reckon Dogukan will shine in it. Else, he doesn't lift the team.
Tetteh: his team last season bankrupted, lost many players during the season and relegated. Scoring 14 goals was an awesome for Tetteh. He didn't fall down and tried to lift the team as long as he could. We will see how fast he can adapt the team and the league, but he is a determined player.
Good luck to Hull City fans this season 👍

It feels like this will go one of two ways for Hull this season, they’ll challenge at the top or they’ll completely implode and be up against relegation for large parts. I worked with Arveladze years and years ago when he was at Rangers and I was a young coach. I have a lot of time for the man, always treated us with respect and it was clear back then that he had a good tactical understanding of the game, in the way he played.

Already this season in July and August they were sky high in the playoffs with the best striker In the league. One bad September later devastated with injuries no goals and a sacked Arvaladze and were back in the bottom half of the table closer to the relegation zone than the playoff places. At least at the time of this comment we’ve just come off two wins under our interim coach and are looking to sign Liam Rosenoir as manager who imo sounds like more of a pr move just because he played for us in our FA Cup final run and is not a run of the mill manager who’s been sacked by every team in Turkish football. This could well be the moment we’re like forest last season we climb up the table and sneak in the playoffs. Or this could be the Barnsley from last season were it only makes us worse and we fall into the relegation places. Arvaladze seemed like a great guy ted he always got involved with clapping the fans not afraid to be honest in interviews with the press and seemed to play some decent football in some spells but injuries forced him to get the best out of a squad that really lacks depth defensively and you’ve probably seen the clips of our laughable defending playing from the back when we don’t have the players capable of doing so. Lead to us looking lost for leadership and the decision to part ways with Shota. It’s a shame it didn’t work out with him but wish him well in his next job (probably rangers lol)

    • @SatanicBeard
      @SatanicBeard 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@dannyhawkings8469 I desperately wanted things to work for him but the defensive side of things was an issue. I always understand coaches wanting to stay true to how they want to play out from the back but at a certain point, you have to tweak things and allow them to play to their strengths, instead of exposing the weaker areas of their games.

Hi, Alfie. First of all, great video! It's always nice to hear more in depth about the Championship, and it's very enjoyable to hear you talk about Hull City, as you're obviously very passionate about the club. Could you make a video talking about AC Milan returning to the top of Italian football by winning the Scudetto and their prospective title-defending and Champions League campaign next season? I'd love to see that. Also, I'd really like to see a video looking at the 7 Best Champions League\European Cup Ties in terms of match quality.

Is there any chance you could do a part 2 to derby county’s video? So much has happened since the last video regarding point deductions, Rooneys amazing efforts as a coach, excellent youth players, ANOTHER con man, Mike Ashley’s attempted buy out, actual local fan buying out the club and stadium, the amazing efforts last season, the legal challenges with Middlesbrough and Wycombe, players running out of contracts and amazing free signings, Liam Rosenior stepping up……
So much more. Deffo worth a look at!

I can assure all fellow Hull fans and all football afficionados, that Turkish football were in great heights throughout 00s and for first 5 years of past decade. My team Galatasaray used to play stalwart games against European giants, same can be said for our arch rivals Fener,Beşiktaş,Trabzonspor etc. Even some minnows like Gençlerbirliği, Denizlispor,Eskişehirspor,Bursaspor etc used to get impressive victories against top tier teams like Roma,Lyon,Valencia. Things were looking good for like 15 years. Hoever, after 2015, the emergance of downward spiral on both economic and somehow "political" issues brought down the level of Turkiah football to the mud. We are "mostly aware" that Turkish football is not a household name in world, but also we would like to put faith on ourselves to change the aspects of game in our country, maybe with the help of thorough planning and shunning "nepotism culture" in football, we can become a productive and succesful country like Croatia,Belgium or even Portugal in the future.

Indeed we have very promising young talents right now (especially Kerem Aktürkoğlu and Arda Güler) but the biggest problem with talents like those is that they never reach their true potential. One good season in Süper League, they get transfered to an established or big club, never make the transition to the club/league and just come back to Süper League (with the exception of Cengiz Ünder, and even he was a kind of a late bloomer and couldn't work it out in Prem.) The whole training and tactical philosophy of Turkish football has to change, to get modernized, both for our players to fulfill themselves wherever they go and for our clubs to succeed. Hope I'll see those days soon🤞

Occurrences in the last few years have made the number one target for ANY fan, is their club to be financially stable.
As a Bolton fan I know what it feels like to almost lose the club you have supported all your life.
I don't care if we are bottom of league 1 this season, the ONE priority is getting the finances correct! If you can spend money on a players that might help chances of survival then great but NEVER put the club at risk.
As a BWFC even I have been horrified at Bury going bust and Oldham's turmoil. Just make sure your club doesn't ever risk it's existence.

Acun is a great chance for Hull City because of his relationship to Fenerbahce and richest Family in Turkey and Fenerbahce Boss Ali Koc. This families companies producing 15% of Turkeys yearly GDP.
If i am not wrong, Hull City will sign after Ozan Tufan and Allahyar as next Dimitris Pelkas from Fenerbahce. Pelkas is a very very strong player, the fans will love him as we did in Turkey. I dont know why we let him go, but our new coach likes only Brazilian players :(
I think, if not this season but next season Hull City will make it to the Premier League. I wish them very best luck and i will keep on following their matches.

With potentially more signings to come, and a couple of important players to return from injury, things can only get more interesting. Rumour has it that when the KC Stadium was offically opened, The Prince of Wales was invited down to watch Hull City's first home match there. When he arrived there and appeared in the directors box seats, the City fans noticed that on his head, he was wearing a weird fur bonnet, which was made from the skin of a dead fox. You can imagine the fans gave him a bit of a ribbing over his headgear, so at halftime, the chairman, while chatting to Charles, asked him why he was wearing such a strange hat. Charles explained how that morning when he was going through his daily appointments with the Queen, she asked him what he was doing in the afternoon. Charles answered that he was going to Hull for the official opening of the new stadium, to which apparently HM replied: "Hull? Wear the fox hat?"
