Yeah, its fantastic for malnutrition in africa. I think it could help stunting and malnourished kids in my country too. But the gov is dumb tho, so its hard.
I actually allergic to it. Tried it in my smoothies, and developed a rash over time, I looked like I had scarlet fever. I even went to urgent care for it and it stumped them what was causing it. I cut out the moringa powder as a hunch and the rash went away. Waited a year, and tried it again with a different batch, thinking that 1st powder was bad, and the rash came back. Didn’t see any info on the Internet and at the time couldn’t find anything. It’s a shame since it is so healthy, just throwing that out there, thanks for the info.
It may not be worth it, but you could consult with your doctor about potentially taking it in a more refined or supplemental form or doing gradual exposure therapy, depending on how severe your reaction is.
I just realised what moringa is after you showed drum sticks. It’s widely available in south India too. In cooked form you can eat a lot of these leaves. We stir fry it along with few spices and peanuts. Very tasty.Drum sticks are widely used in the south Indian cuisine. Although I have no idea about this product in the powdered form.

Let's just always keep in mind that similarly amazing, even mind-blowing benefits to all kinds of bodily measures have been observed when random meatheads were given small doses of many common plants, like a handful of berries, spices, flax etc. When you read any of Dr. Greger's books you'll get the impression that it would be almost hard *not* to vastly improve the average person's health with literally any small addition of plants to their diet.
You are listing high antioxidant plants here. One of the studies Mike mentions here compares it to amaranth. Amaranth is a very healthy grain, and. Apparently Moringa is better. But yes, I agree that adding it to an already antiinflammatory diet is probably not necessary.

Eg ALA seems to have lots of benefits... but when I looked deeper, it seems to be only for meat eaters with high-ish blood sugar... which is most people, but if youre already veg, I don't think it helps. With yesterday's small fillet steak, I enjoyed mashed potatoes, cauli in a garlic, white sauce & a shallot, pea & sweetcorn gravy, + a dash of English mustard. WF omni for my win. Seed oils, fructose & highly processed foods are what I consider to be the "poisons".

In my part of India(Odisha), we make fries out of its fruits leaves flowers, we also make saag, sweet and spicy curries out of the fruit, we also use the leaves and fruit to flavour soups, daals and rice and they all taste so divine. It is my favourite, but never used the powder.
Here in India, we eat the fresh leaves and tender pods either as a stew or in a curry form (probably 60-100gm at a time). Ignore the taste and Moringa can be part of a wide-spectrum WFPB diet doing its bit for our health. Anything in excess is bound to cause harm. The tree grows really fast, the branches are weak. So beware! Don't climb.
Aloha, please be aware that people in the Philippines have been consuming moringa literally for decades if not centuries as long as you eat any green food at a normal rate of ingestion, you’re fine

It was a surprise to know of this concerning a popular and widely consumed plant. Though as I said mostly I've heard of only the pods being consumed and this syndrome was reported from consuming cooked leaves. And to add to the tree's ecological and horticultural benefits, a large stick from it, several feet long, can take root if planted in the ground. Many people used to have a moringa tree in the backyard... It's a light foliaged rather small tree: not a grand, dense foliaged one like say the mango or banyan.

Take any Moringa powder package and just look at the nutrition label. 1-0% in all categories because the serving size is so tiny and it’s so overpriced. The juice is just not worth the squeeze at the prices it sells for. Edit: The size of the dose in those studies is where the rub is.
I was very enthusiastic about moringa from what I learned about it, so I purchased it about six years ago. Since I’m no stranger to green powders I thought I’d take a tablespoon to start, and some water. I immediately felt very weak and had to lay down. I felt like the room was spinning, and I couldn’t go into work. I laid there for hours waiting for the sensation to pass. I waited a week and decided to try just a teaspoon thinking, it was just the amount That was bothering me. Even the teaspoon made me feel weak, although not as dramatically as the week before when taking a tablespoon. I persisted for at least a year, adding it to green smoothies, but always felt very weak, lightheaded, and low blood sugar for sometime after consuming it until my body stabilized. I decided to stop taking it as the feeling was too uncomfortable. I don’t know if I would call it an allergy or whether my naturally healthy, blood sugar and blood pressure cut lower too much by taking the product. Thanks for sharing your experience. I hope to hear from others and theirs, when consuming it.
Im early to the moringa party😅. I’ve been eating it for 5+ years. I’m not sure it’s doing anything specific but it is a good nutrition boost. It has a very mild grassy taste, not bitter like matcha. I’m glad to hear there are potential health benefits!
On my vegan WFPB lifestyle journey which started 4 years ago, I included MO in powder form (5g/day). It`s one of several WF supps (organic turmeric, ginger, clove, blueberry powder, garlic, broccoli sprouts) I`ve been taking every morning. My general health HAS improved significantly. Was it the MO or something else or a combination of things? I don`t know. But I reckon it can`t hurt.

One thing that I was hoping you would cover is Moringa's ability to activate NRF2 predominantly through isothiocyanate moringin and polyphenols. I think this is similar to how broccoli sprouts also activate it. This is the main reason that I started taking it and I think also one of the most compelling reasons.

Moringa grows incredibly easy in hot climates in very poor soil consitions. . Desert Southwest, the south. Its good for people without any experience in gardening. A confidence builder that is edible. Health benefits overrated, doesnt mean its not worthwhile.
Moringa is a powerful adaptogenic herb. Focusing on the nutrient value is missing the point. More than anything, Moringa makes you feel calm steady and alert. It's not stimulating like coffee or tea. It's not strongly sedating like Jiaogulan or more mildly sedating like with Rosemary or Sage. Instead of turning the dial up or down, it sets it down to the middle if that makes sense. Moringa just makes your mind feel steady, and body feel strong as you take it. Moringa makes an excellent tonic for your nerves. At least with my grandparents generation, it's main reputation was a calming herb. But they didn't have the culture of taking it regularly. Just on occasion like a medicine. Cuban people don't have a strong tea drinking culture, what with all the coffee, sugar water, and rum around to drink. That's probably why it never caught on there. But Moringa is a fairly well recognized herb in Cuba, if sorely underused. Especially considering the constantly dire living conditions there. People wear out by 30-40. They don't die till 80, but they spend 40 or so years moaning and groaning about their joints and organs. I wish the powder didn't hit my stomach like lightening, otherwise I would take Moringa just for exceptional mental clarity it gives. You only need a little. It's extremely strong stuff. The flavor is also extremely strong, but it mixes into refried beans well. If you can stomach this potent herb, I would highly recommend taking it.

Plenty of iron and other good things in any green leafy vegetable.
Pairing vitamin c with a source of plant iron helps better absorb the iron too.

I'm pretty tolerant of bad taste in supplements, but moringa is awful.
Moringa is a powerful adaptogenic herb. Focusing on the nutrient value is missing the point.
More than anything, Moringa makes you feel calm steady and alert. It's not stimulating like coffee or tea. It's not strongly sedating like Jiaogulan or more mildly sedating like with Rosemary or Sage. Instead of turning the dial up or down, it sets it down to the middle if that makes sense.
Moringa just makes your mind feel steady, and body feel strong as you take it.
Moringa makes an excellent tonic for your nerves. At least with my grandparents generation, it's main reputation was a calming herb. But they didn't have the culture of taking it regularly. Just on occasion like a medicine. Cuban people don't have a strong tea drinking culture, what with all the coffee, sugar water, and rum around to drink. That's probably why it never caught on there.
But Moringa is a fairly well recognized herb in Cuba, if sorely underused. Especially considering the constantly dire living conditions there. People wear out by 30-40. They don't die till 80, but they spend 40 or so years moaning and groaning about their joints and organs.
I wish the powder didn't hit my stomach like lightening, otherwise I would take Moringa just for exceptional mental clarity it gives. You only need a little. It's extremely strong stuff. The flavor is also extremely strong, but it mixes into refried beans well. If you can stomach this potent herb, I would highly recommend taking it.
