Yoooo I used to talk to this guy on Instagram, but I kinda kept it strictly as a “hey! inspire me!” kind of relationship, so this is trippy. With that being said, can you look into a video on “it looks sad.” Such an underrated band.
Great video as always! Being a fan of McCafferty from way back in the moms and dad's era, it's such a shame to see this spiral downwards of probably my all-time favorite band aside from The Wonder Years. Hopefully nick gets the help he needs, and I'll check out the new music, but knowing that plays support him monetarily and the stuff tied to money previously, it'll be one-time listens.
I’ve never been this excited for a video in my life. Like I’m mad that Nick still has any semblance of a platform, but I always love your videos and I’m glad you made this one
This kind of shit is why I don’t usually pay much attention to the band members and their lives. It’s so hard to be “objective” about the music when you hear about stories like these. I still like some of McCafferty’s stuff tho 🤷🏼♂️

"oh i am so bad i wish i were dead" is just guilt tripping and making it all about you. i hate it so much. and that song?? yeah, he doesnt care. he hopes no one remembers what he's done and just wants to come back as soon as possible also idk if you've seen but mccafferty just released a new song yesterday (11.05.2021), queerball ;/ i mean it's a bop and once again speaks to my poor gay heart but,,, y e a h
i didn’t watch the thing but if those events were true, i don’t respect nick, i only respect his music. the music he made was amazing, and without nick, mccafferty wouldn’t be mccafferty. it’s just like if someone else took over pewdiepie’s channel, it wouldn’t be like pewdiepie - it’d be more like something else living inside of his shell, or someone else cast in the shadow of his legacy. i love mccafferty and the music they make, but not the actions nick has done.
I fully believe the no one is past saving or past changing, but man this really pisses me off. When all of the allegations came out against Nick last year, him and his wife were planning on moving to the Seattle area. I live in Washington as well and was seriously talking to him about becoming the drummer for McCafferty. It was an idea that we both liked and wanted to make happen if possible and then all of this came out. McCafferty was my favorite band and I looked up to Nick. I know that there are dozens of people that can say the same thing, so my story isn't unique. All of that aside, I would love to see Nick grow as a person and become better, but he has to leave McCafferty behind and stop trying to grow under a spotlight. If he is serious about all of his mental health issues, then he needs to get help and stop putting out music. He has done enough damage. As it stands, Nick is a piece of absolute garbage, but I want him to get help. And I want him to stop putting out music.
The new songs are trash, an “opinionated” statement, I’m aware. Just like many think my music is trash. But if Nick was actually sorry, actually paying Chris, Evan and Wes for the royalties on the songs they put work into would be a start. Would it make up for everything? NO. but at least it might actually show some sliver of regret.

Some people are such a mess of drama publicly that it becomes part of the act and they somehow become immune to being canceled. Examples include Azaelia Banks, Keemstar, Kanye. I feel like Nick Hartkop is the only person in emo to ever pull this off.
I hope he gets proper help if he hasn’t got any. His BPD could explain a lot of things but doesn’t excuse the things he says, I truly hope he changes. I don’t agree with anything he has done but I can’t help but feel bad as there must be something wrong with him. It’s sad how he’s an amazing singer but has done bad things (the rest of the band is amazing as-well and I’m not discrediting them)
I hate this whole situation so much, I didn’t know about the allegations when I started listening to McCafferty not too long ago and I really should’ve known sooner, I hate that bands I like are toxic so often, I hate that I’m drawn to toxic bands, I should’ve figured out warning signs by now but I still keep liking the music of horrible people and I know I’m the reason I like them but can’t people just try not to be manipulative, bigoted, overall evil assholes for ONCE? Sorry for the rant, have a good day and I hope you find a band that makes good music AND good life choices :]
I typically separate the band members and the band with the music I listen to. Cause yeah a lot of band members are absolute wankers however their music are works of art (ex Morrissey vs the smiths) but there is something about nick and mcCaffery I can’t vibe with. It’s like I don’t explore the band as I would out of spite to nick. He’s apologised so much and he throws in his bpd so much and I understand it’s important to normalise mental health and especially bpd but he only uses it when he knows he fucked up or to get a few pity points (from my pov) and that boils my blood because it sets a terrible rep of bpd and bpd is not just manipulation and getting pity points. And I really had to share this because it’s a really unfortunate, uncomfortable situation
The official ones I can remember are spring 2014, then summer 2014, then radio silence after Jan 2015, til June 2015, all the while hearing again and again how he was gonna be a special ed teacher so he couldn't do McCafferty, then summer 2015 beachboy 2 being teased, then radio silence and "I can't do McCafferty" again, Jan 2016 and beachboy 2 singles again, then "I can't be in McCafferty because I'm a teacher" for the millionth time, then disappearing again after the repress of beachboy/third bb2 single, then the Kickstarter for the ep in Oct 2016,, then him being serious for about a year and some change, then the breakup during their first full us tour in spring 2018, then the acoustic ep summer of 2018 and another breakup, then fucking on and off with whether or not there was gonna be anything, then an actual west coast tour in summer 2019 and talk of the third album, then shit hitting the fan with the allegations, and what seemed to be the final nail in the coffin, then obviously as this video says, nick 'coming back' and making music again, the same patterns. I seen it all from the sidelines man.

I was very surprised when I saw he had released Beachboy 2 and McCafferty vs TFB and I’m not sure how to feel cause I feel bad listening to the music but his music is special to me
@@jkteddy77 yeah, thanks, I will
“I hate myself, I’m sorry that I suck. If only this thing I can’t control called my brain would stop ruining my life.” The embodiment of a grown ass dude with untreated bpd. Maybe in like 5+ years he’ll be alright, but right now is not that time. Ew.
McCafferty Manga lol
We'd have flying cars by now if Nick would just go to therapy and stop manipulating people
He is now
he does!
Yoooo I used to talk to this guy on Instagram, but I kinda kept it strictly as a “hey! inspire me!” kind of relationship, so this is trippy. With that being said, can you look into a video on “it looks sad.” Such an underrated band.
Omg yes! Literally just started getting into them, so dope!
Kaiju is a great album 👌👌

“Oh my Jfc of course they are”
Great video as always!
Like I’m mad that Nick still has any semblance of a platform, but I always love your videos and I’m glad you made this one
the worst part of this is that he’s actually talented
The worst part? Lol
Honestly when I listen to them I make myself forget that nick is in the band and the singer is just the singer guy
This kind of shit is why I don’t usually pay much attention to the band members and their lives. It’s so hard to be “objective” about the music when you hear about stories like these. I still like some of McCafferty’s stuff tho 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you for keeping us up to date and keeping it civil and purely informative, as I’m sure it’s hard to go out of your way to dig up and digest this information so we don’t have to ❤️
Saying "im going to change" for the 10th time doesnt mean anything
i’ve haven’t listened to mcafferty much but nate informs everyone in such a sick way. thanks for making sick vids dawg
Hes claiming now to be making a continuous effort, regularly going to therapy, taking his medication and health seriously, etc. He seems to have done a lot of work on himself and it's good to see. And he says that his profits are going to the Easterseals charity.
It's just after everything it's so hard to believe him. I hope he's improved. I really do. And I hope he continues to improve. But it's hard to just accept it and believe what he says
I’m glad you returned to your McCafferty trilogy
THANK YOU! I was sooo confused when I saw they released a new song on spotify. I was like: "wait.. I thought they split?" so ,you really helped me out here! :)
I'm interested to see if you would be willing to do another update soon or when Snoqualmie comes out. I know he's been posting from time to time on his blog on the official McCafferty website. Thanks for this series! As someone who just got into their music, this helped clear a lot up. I appreciate it when people like you go out of your way to put the facts out there.
i’ve never clicked on a video so fast
Same
I know right
Same
same I was so confused
the radio silence from any of these commentary youtubers since nick has gotten better is so loud
that’s what i was thinking, someone should make a video about how he’s genuinely bettered himself now but i doubt that’ll happen
I mean, Nate hasn't posted on this channel in over a year, almost 2. He may have bettered himself but let's not pretend like any of this is irrelevant. These videos aren't a keemstar-esque hit piece on Hartkop for clicks, they are documenting why the band is where it is.
it’s a huge struggle with people that have bpd, because they don’t even realize that they’re doing what they’ve apologized for.
before nick went MIA he went live and asked for recommendations for songs to make for a new album i commented beachboy pt 2 and began writing it live.... maybe thats why it sounds so pre allegations Mccafferty
it seems he’s doing better which is cool to see
really? where?
@@franzfiranken7548 it keeps deleting my replies. but if u go on their spotify, they have a website where they upload blogs and talk about their bpd and their growth after rehabilitation
Nick is genuinely crazy, that’s all there is to it honestly. People give him power by blowing McCafferty songs up on tiktok and stuff too
isnt it beautiful makes we want to cry every time i hear it
The last verse of beachboy 2 was pretty pog
It’s tragically funny Spotify also suggested Panucci’s Pizza.
The mccafferty videos were like reallly good
Lost my shit laughing at "No longer a piece of music, but a piece of modern art"

i literally just watched all 3 parts of the series for this and thought it was over and then saw this on my recommended from a week ago, i am sobbing.
the end
Had a gf with BPD and this behavior definitely checks out. Just absolute batshit. Manic episodes and then the “I’m sorry but I Don’t plan on changing” and the “feel sorry for me” thing
I like Mccafferty
I kept thinking of the song "Liar" by Rollins Band through this whole video
Yes!!
His videos got me into them. Not die hard fan but I stream them once in awhile.
Im disgraced as someone who suffers from BPD.
Nick released a song called Divva in 2019 and it’s basically one long self pity song
Of course he’s back
Y I K E S
the front bottoms would never do this to us :|
i’m pretty happy that i found the front bottoms first, so i’m less attached to a band with a bag of shit for a lead singer
This is so prevelant in the community. Thier are bands that made such good music where I am from and all it took was one bad seed from with in for it to go bad.
The song tries real hard to accept responsibility and be sorry, then throws phrases that feel like he wants people to feel sorry for him.
I hate everything he's done but I still like his music and I don't want to stop listening to it
And then he dropped an album lol
Yo my mate said manga?? Got some favorite anime Nate?
drop the merch nate!!
I was just wondering if you were gonna make another video on this topic a couple days ago.
And now mcafferty is back once again lol. The cycle repeats itself

BRUH I COULDNT LISTEN TO BEACHBOY 2 - the first ones the only one we needed and nothing will come close to that “I need to fix my shit” bop!
i still like some of the mccafferty songs,,, beach boy, trees I and II have very special places in my heart.. but as someone who's been in a toxic relationship and had quite a few toxic friends, this song is so gross. i know this type of apologizing, like you said, it's just a "you should feel sorry for me". and the part where he says he wishes he was dead for bad things he's done??? grow up, change, make up bad things you've done. "oh i am so bad i wish i were dead" is just guilt tripping and making it all about you. i hate it so much. and that song?? yeah, he doesnt care. he hopes no one remembers what he's done and just wants to come back as soon as possible
also idk if you've seen but mccafferty just released a new song yesterday (11.05.2021), queerball ;/ i mean it's a bop and once again speaks to my poor gay heart but,,, y e a h
i didn’t watch the thing but if those events were true, i don’t respect nick, i only respect his music. the music he made was amazing, and without nick, mccafferty wouldn’t be mccafferty. it’s just like if someone else took over pewdiepie’s channel, it wouldn’t be like pewdiepie - it’d be more like something else living inside of his shell, or someone else cast in the shadow of his legacy. i love mccafferty and the music they make, but not the actions nick has done.
And I want him to stop putting out music.
me: *reads title* no their not....
I literally have been listening to McCafferty for about a year without knowing about this controversy. Not sure how to feel now
oh god oh fuck he's back
Mcafferty got some bangers idgaf
I was all about this band for a hot minute, until they blocked me on FB over a comment that was actually defending them.
I completely forgot about McCafferty until I saw this vid

The new songs are trash, an “opinionated” statement, I’m aware. Just like many think my music is trash. But if Nick was actually sorry, actually paying Chris, Evan and Wes for the royalties on the songs they put work into would be a start. Would it make up for everything? NO. but at least it might actually show some sliver of regret.
Please read the Mccafferty Blog posts, there's a good hours worth of a read there, and give an update video.

Some people are such a mess of drama publicly that it becomes part of the act and they somehow become immune to being canceled. Examples include Azaelia Banks, Keemstar, Kanye. I feel like
Nick Hartkop is the only person in emo to ever pull this off.
You should make a foxing video!
I hope he gets proper help if he hasn’t got any. His BPD could explain a lot of things but doesn’t excuse the things he says, I truly hope he changes. I don’t agree with anything he has done but I can’t help but feel bad as there must be something wrong with him. It’s sad how he’s an amazing singer but has done bad things (the rest of the band is amazing as-well and I’m not discrediting them)
I don't. He doesn't deserve recovery.
@@nooooooooope3809wow that's a great mindset on life 😐
the sound of agony I just made
Damn, McCafferty's releasing more stuff? It's gonna be a blood bath.
For McCafferty. Not the emo industry. Just them. Lmao.
I liked that you showed the objective truth about everything.
McCafferty had came and went like... 3 or 4 times already?
Waaaay more than that. Been a fan since 2013. It's been wild
Too many to count. There have been many “full” break ups, mini break ups, and everything in-between. Nothing but drama from the beginning
Bonus points if anyone remembers the other 'bands' nick tried to do
This band was honestly one of my comfort bands, especially being alt and an ohioan. Guess it's time to move on to another ohio band
