I'm surprised he didn't point out that a slasher movie that was written by a feminist and directed by a woman, contains more sleaze and nudity than most 80s slashers.
He kinda brings up the fact she was a female activist and feminist etc in the beginning , it's not a topic I feel needs to be hammered home that much. There is so much more to be horrified by here.
Darren Moxam The high school shower scene, which wasn’t being sexualized in any way and had all of the girls covered up either by towels or the shower wall? God, just because a woman is in her bra or towel or is naked, it doesn’t have to be a sexual thing. God forbid a woman take a shower. You shouldn’t feel like a sexual predator just because women are casually talking in a shower room when there *isn’t even actual nudity shown* and any of the implied nudity is covered up. Besides, a number of feminists are for casual nudity due to the fact that women are often demonized and shamed for even wearing shorts that are “too short”, so even if there was nudity, it’s not even hypocrisy or ironic in any way. The fact of the matter is that there are many ways that people approach feminism and the way that most people (and especially men) think of it isn’t the reality.
yeah, a lot of feminists are in favor of treating women being topless the same way the law treats men being topless. The status quo "Oh no, that nipple is attached to someone with a vagina! It is an Illegal Nipple!" standard is...kinda weird if you think about it. Especially when transgender people come into play. When does a person transitioning from male-presenting to female-presenting have nipples that can't be shown in public?
