Bro... this game was my childhood. The music, the missions, the endless slaughter of the North Korean soldiers, stealing those really cool South Korean attack choppers. My childhood is literally being played before my eyes and I miss it.
All these years later I can whistle right along without missing a beat to every single song. And I'm 25. I played this on release. Easily one of the best releases of the Era by far. RIP Pandemic

When you receive your missions from the faction leaders sometimes there is random things you can do in the room like messing with the fishes or pouring the coffee

I actually got some tears in my eyes after watching this and thinking of my life at the time when this came out, all the good times and good family. I spent so many years after this came out still playing it and making new memories. I printed so many pages with the cheats for this game.

Ah, a fellow cheat code user. Although, I was still afraid of going out of bounds (I can thank Jak & Daxter for giving me a phobia of going out of bounds, that lurker shark scared the shit out of me as a kid) even though I had God Mode enabled.
Me too. When my family was still mostly alive and unified. I come from an old school Eastern European family and neither of my uncles had kids and I'm an only child. It was better times.

I must have played thousands of hours on this game. it WAS my childhood. I played hours of the PSM demo disc demo and loved every minute of it. I obsessed over this game and given the chance could play another 1000 hours. Best game EVER!!!

But there's a similar one called the Portable Airstrike, which is obtain by verifying all the Deck of 52 members or using Cheats to unlock the Cheat Weapon Drop.

@@xxbloodxreaperxx There's a extremely dangerous weapon in PoD you'll never let go this OP Rocket Launcher, it's deadlier than the Fuel-Air RPG Kit from the Sequel. It's called the Portable Airstrike, it will unlock by verifying all the Deck of 52 members or using cheat.

I loved the 1st mercenaries so much. Dumped endless hours into that game as a kid. Tried playing the 2nd one time, did it for maybe a couple of hours and just wasn't into it, never picked it up again. I guess my expectations were just so high from this first game (or at least how I remembered it).

Played this game for hours on end for a few years. Was very fun to be able to destroy so many things in so many new and creative ways in a open world set in a warzone.
This was my favorite ps2 game. I spent years playing it and I used cheat codes to change skins. It was just amazing, honestly. The music brings back the fondest of memories. Ambiance back in the day was surreal

I literally captured 100% of the deck of 52 including the last general. Which was so hard to do as a kid. I love this game. I’d just go around and fight for whatever country I’d feel like on a certain day.
I replayed this game not too long ago, made it a point to beat the game with all bounties alive. I'm very happy I did, as this game hasn't lost a bit of its charm.
Started playing Mercenaries 1 for the first time. Really disappointed I didn't play these games sooner.
The one thing I can be thankful of my deadbeat, rude ass cousin for, is introducing me to this game when we were kids. I forgot how obsessed I was with it. It filled the void when I was a little too young for GTA yet, but it was so much more than just a placeholder. It did so many simple things right, that modern games apparently can’t manage to figure out. The freedom and “sandboxyness” of this game was so far ahead of its time. I’d give a lot of money for a faithful remake.

I got this gem off the Xbox Store at the start of the week, after finding it. Holy fuck what a blast from the past, they got Apollo Creed himself as the American General (AN/UN my arse). And then the South Korean mission giver turns out to be Overlord Himself from the OG COD MW games.
And then you find out that collecting enough shit gives you the ability to change your guy into either Han Solo or Indiana Jones. And you unlock the best vehicles in the game into the bargain, helicopters are a lifesaver, as long as you know how to handle the AAA that fight you.
I was REAAALY hoping they'd have a unlock for an AT-ST or some other vehicles from SW:Battlefront, seeing as how it was based on the same engine by LucasArts.
That would've been ridiculously awesome to replay the game with.

Dude I played this on the ps2. Headlight issue...yes, bombs falling through map, yes. Mafia getting agro for litteraly no reason, yes. SK bugging into the ground yes. 3 of hearts teleporting infinitely, yes. OG game is a buggy mess. I will still legit die for this game.

The first game is much more better than the second!
-The Merc1 tanks are much more dangerous and destructive than the Merc2 ones
-The Merc1 elite soldiers,RPG soldieris are much more skilled and intelligent than the Merc2 ones. (Why hell these soldiers being static in a construction?)
-The Merc1 AA systems are much better,surgical and destructive than the Merc2 ones.
-The Merc1 helicopters are much more destructive than the Merc2 ones.

8:21 I bought this on the Xbox and for me there was a North Korean Soldier making a foolish attempt at attacking the Technical. That civilian might of been in the way of the NK Soldier and was a casualty of war lol.

No one will believe me but on my Xbox One (Xbox) edition I've played Mattias and Mui. I noticed that Mattias can't get helicopters easy like Mui can, I guess you'd call it _airjacking_ so I would recommend you play Mui if you want to hijack helicopters from delivery drops and such.

such a weird glitch at the beginning, i'm assuming it's bc its emulated or whatever. None of those problems were on the original ps2 disc and i bought multiple in the past. I'm glad you picked up on the darker tone. It makes it soo much better, I can take it more seriously. Doesn't feel as corny like a saints row game or something like the second. And just the whole political concept of being in an NK warzone sounds more feasible or interesting to me tbh

Pretty good game, but hard when it's get tougher.
The first mercenaries game is far better than the second one. The story is way too short in the second game.

I use an xbox 360 cabled controller on my PC. The controls for the game are setup for playstation, so you will have some wonky controls by default. Such as, the game saying "X" when you would hit "A" using an xbox controller. I have not altered the controls, or used a mouse and keyboard. Thanks for subbing! Hope this helps!
