It's my favorite Mario of all time, and third best NES of all time, and second favorite game of all time overall. My favorite game all time is TMNT NES the original one.
Harri927 Played it the other day for the first time in about 10 years. My kids were mind blown at how fast I got through the first levels. They were dumbfounded when I dropped Mario behind the level and found both warps.
The ending credit music..oh my god. Starts off as the same ending credit music that is in SMB1 and then suddenly kicks off into this powerful and rocking jam! Totally encapsulates the journey Mario had through the 8-bit era. It feels like putting on bow on the legacy of the Famicom/NES.
I KNEW this song was here! many soundtracks miss this song... I was watching 'The Dodo' channel and they had background music on a few of their vids that was pretty much a recreation of this song. 11:30
My first try to record NES music on a cassette!!! When I got this game in the Challenge Set I didn't think it would change my whole life. Its music was my first motivation to hear videogame music on a music player and because of it I keep collecting to this day all the classic videogame music I can, either I know the game or not. I really like the 8-bit Stereo sound. Wish these tracks were a bit longer, like up to 2 or 3 minutes. I really want to know how these were made. I know a good deal about audio editing and phase shifting to make mono sound like stereo, but there is a bit more going on here. I know some NES games were actually made with stereo in mind, but I don't think many here in the USA got to experience it because of the hardware design regarding composite output lacking stereo channels. I think that was also lost when we used the RF modulator. I mean, I wish our old school games sounded as good as this by default, but I remember nothing but mono in 8-bit games. There were some really great 8-bit soundtracks back then that would have been even better. It wasn't until the 16-bit with SNES and the Sega Genesis that we got stereo sound.
This was the Mario game that made me a lifetime fan, and it was fairly unique with its costumes all the way til Mario 3D Land and Mario 3d World, tho Super Mario Galaxy had some fun ones too
So nostalgic bro When I was little, around 2009 or so, my dad used to play this with me all the time on NES Cafe, an online emulator site, before it was shutdown.
Which is also the beginning notes to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time's title screen. Also- 0:59 is the harmony to the Fairy Fountain theme. Cool little secret there.

I'm one of the lucky ones who got that game the 1st week it came out. :) Imo today's games lack something that old games like SMB3 had, a lasting "fun" factor. Jonathan Randise I can't agree with you on that. I believe there are gems today that compare well with the classics. For example, Bioshock. And games of the 80's that are truly awful. Like Cheetamen, or E.T. for the Atari.
Jonathan Randise i wouldn't call all modern games soulless , i would rather call many of them poorly executed shitstains of faithless crap. with not the amount of dedication to even get the whole thing started, no effort in technical optimization of the whole project, just bang and gone, no amount of fight for survival to get a game going. that's where the best games come from! can't do best - go to rest.
That's what kids today will be saying about the games they are playing now in comparison to whatever games may come in the future when they get older. I loved how Super Mario Bros. 3 expanded on ideas from the last three Mario games (Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2 Japan and Super Mario Bros. 2 U.S.). THE COCKPIT INSTRUMENT PANEL During each adventure, an instrument panel appears above the gameplay area. This will show the current status of Uncle Scrooge's progress in each land. The various cockpit indicators are shown as follows. 1. Hit Points: When damage is done by the enemies, etc., the color changes from red to yellow. When all turn yellow, one player is out. 2. You can also Pogo-Jump on top of characters that are in mid-air.
(CONT) Obviously, this game really influenced me to do 8-bit music, those Kondo tunes have stuck with me forEVER. And my dad and i ALWAYS played this one together. Sadly, he got older and stopped, but i continued. The music; catchy and timeless. Nice duty changes and sample uses, and such great tunes, MAN. When i hear it, i swear, i get transported to a time when i was only 6 years old, to a simpler time. God I love this game. I Really do. The music rocks, and it will. forEVER. Sorry bout that!
That's not the first time Zelda/Mario borrowed something from the other. The warp whistle tune/animation in SMB3 was re-used from the original Legend of Zelda.
I really like those stereo versions much better, what a missed oppertunity from nintendo to not add stereo output, that would,ve been domething straigth forward.

THE COCKPIT INSTRUMENT PANEL
During each adventure, an instrument panel appears above the gameplay area. This will show the current status of Uncle Scrooge's progress in each land. The various cockpit indicators are shown as follows.
1. Hit Points: When damage is done by the enemies, etc., the color changes from red to yellow. When all turn yellow, one player is out.
2. Land Money: Money collected for that land. When the player is out, this figure goes back to zero.
3. No. of Players: When there are no more players, the game is OVER!!!
4. Total Amount: When the Land Money is brought back to the Control Room it is added to the total of the game.
5. Time: When the time indicates zero, one player is out.
THE CONTROL ROOM
The game starts at this Control Room. You can start the Game at any of the five lands that are offered. You cannot choose a land that you have previously cleared.
When you come in contact with Launchpad, (who is standing within the various lands) he will ask you if you wish to return to the Control Room or not. If you choose "yes" you will return to the control room temporarily. Once there, you can put the money you collected into the safe, (Total Money Score). Launchpad can only be used once in each land.

Mrs. Beakly - She made some wonderful treats for Uncle Scrooge.
Gizmo-Duck - If you can find the remote control on the Moon, Uncle Scrooge can summon Gizmo-Duck to assist him.

best version of mario brothers 3 soundtrack
Why did that spider king scare the shit outta me everytime I saw it paired with that music as a kid? It's still Creepy as hell for some reason
Best Mario game ever.
Best game on NES.
I prefer mono, Good job, Anyways, Chuckles!
Same here!
One of my favorite Mario games. =D Such awesome music! XD
Indeed, though at times, I'm tired of seeing SMB3 get so much attention, maybe at least music wise XP
My fav video game of all time, seriously!
oh jeez, so nostagic i can still see my 5 year old self on christmas day....
It says "Wrap Zone" in the description, lol. Great upload!
Wow this sounds so good in my headphone good job!
Great sound dude.
Yeah! also brings me so many memories :( thanks a lot man!
Giant Land sounds like Joe Jackson's stepping out. They toned down the similarities for Mario All Stars
Underground, toad house, dark world, falling from the sky, airship are great!!!
yeaaah stereo! shame no one added these to nes roms

DUCKTALES STORY
Uncle Scrooge is a world-class millionaire and a lover of adventure. His goal this time is to obtain the five lost treasures that were scattered throughout the world.
He is off on his adventure with the help of Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby. They will travel with him through the jungles of the Amazon, the snow-topped peaks of the Himalayas, the haunted house in Transylvania, the subterranean mines of Africa, and to the surface of the Moon.
So, how many of the lost treasures will you be able to find?
I almost thought, "Where's the title screen music?" And then I thought about it. And now I feel stupid.
The very first video game I owned.
