Awesome video. I've watched a few already and actually have this bag showing up tomorrow, and each video I watch I get a little more insight about it and get more excited. Am stoked to give this a go on a day trip this weekend.
Wow, GREAT job of pointing out ALL the features and advantages of this bag! I ordered mine a few weeks ago and expect it in the middle of December. Good work!
I just got this exact bag! On my birthday no less. Awesome review! You cover the features and uses very thoroughly and I'm glad you went over how to use the straps because I was a little confused how to work them all but you make it look simple!
Great post. Lovely video and audio quality, tight editing, and unique walk through on the different feature sets. I have been pouring through all the videos as I await my 30L, and yours is among the strongest, if not the best review/unboxing.
This backpack is making my mouth water, I want one. It is like getting the functionality of a Bobby backpack and the size and quality of a Kathmandu backpack and putting them together. I want one. Great review as well very comprehensive. Thumbs up! and Maybe even sub.
I personally like my PD Messenger bag more than both the 20 + 30L (I own all three). For travel the backpack may be a bit more convenient and comfortable to carry around just because you have the extra room and can wear it on both shoulders but for every day use (including work) I go with the EDM every time. It's also larger than most people think. My EDM carries the folllowing: Sony A7ii (gripped), 16-35, 28-70, 55 + 70-200. I also carry a power bank, 5 sony batteries, double A's, two chargers, rocket blower, multi tools, car chargers, extra lens caps, remote triggers, cloths, memory card cases, etc. etc. etc. I also feel that my equipment is more secure in the EDM. The first time using the 30L backpack I didn't realize but the side access pocket was not closed all the way and my 55mm almost fell right out of it. Obviously, this was user error and could have been avoided but these things happen with side access style backpacks. Just my .02.
I have only been able to test it with my 13 inch MacBook, but it has plenty of space. Also, this is only the 20L backpack, the 30L option would have heaps of space.
This was amazingly comprehensive. I have this bag coming from the kickstarter as well, but mine hasn't shipped yet. Glad to see some other Aussies already have theirs! I liked the way you went through the features and listed the practicalities. This review seemed much less "waffly" and straight to the point than a lot of others out there - which I enjoyed. Then again, I think that's a cultural want/need with Aussies. It's part of our base linguistic values to crave facts (funnily enough this has been proven with studies, haha!) Anyway, thanks so much for the review. So hyped for my bag now.
Aussies for the win! Glad to hear I wasn't 'waffling', when I was posting it I was thinking "Perlin who is going to listen to you talk for 15mins strait.."
haha! The answer would be me. Yes indeedy, little ol' me. It basically solidified that I'd made the right choice for my gear. (Which I thank you for immensely, by the way). I'm also considering getting the Sling now for light days or as a carry on travel combo type deal. Just had to ask the PD boys if it would fit an iPad Pro 12.9" though. It's actually slightly bigger than a 13" inch macbook pro, which is said to fit - but I'm on the fence about spending $150US on a bag that I'm uncertain will carry what I need it to. At least I know the 20L backpack will fit that PLUS my 15" macbook pro and still be small enough to not be a hassle to carry around.
Holy resolution Batman, you sir have an incredibly sharp camera. May I ask what you were using to record this highly informative and well-produced review?
im loving the bag, will you be doing a review after you use it for a while. No one has really done a gears video and wear and tear test yet. Also, how long will your discount code be valid until? thank you
Yes, I will be doing a follow up video after I have travelled with it. The discount link will get you 10% off any purchase that is over $20 from the site, there is no end date to the offer (it doesn't work with 'bundles' or already discounted products.
Holy Shit, hopefully when I sober up and do a non-drunk review of my Everyday Backpack I can reach your level of greatness. Thanks for taking it seriously and reviewing the shit out of it!
Can you do a quick video to show how the water fall off if you pour water on top of it? Just want to compare with my newly 10L Sling, mine I’m not sure but when I pour water on top of it, the water will still stay on top and require me to wipe them away by myself and there’s water mark on the fabric and take like less than 30s to visibly gone away.
Just did a check of cost and it works out to be $387 AUS or $284US for 20L with a saving on postage with link. That seems a really expensive pack even given all the features.
Yeah they don't come cheap.. but the quality of materials are very good, so it should last you a long time. You just have to decide if the features it offers best fits your lifestyle or not.
Good review !! Just wondering one thing about this backpack that is absolutely amazing... How secure that magnetic latch would be if the backpack would be pressed against other luggage from the top side, specially if it's not fully loaded . Being magnetic I'm afraid that the latch would just be pressed down getting unlocked or unhooked by accident. Can you confirm that ?
It would be able to get pushed down, but someone would still have to physically pull the latch out as well. The only possible way that it could be opened without someone doing it is if it was pushed from the top and then something (like a strap) made its way underneath the clip and when the person took their bag away it also pulled the latch open. Even then, unless something held the latch open it would just magnetically close again. I don't think you need to worry about it.
I have a Thule Crossover 25L, zipper broken, they offer me if I want to switch to Thule Subterra 25L, I could not decide, which one is better, more durable, and more practically useful? The Subterra 25l doesn't have top zipper and only a fold down flap which I'm not sure if this can prevent water go in.
I'd be more than happy for them to send me one for review after being a loyal customer for a while, with my subs that should get them some good UK/USA coverage :D hint hint PD... Good video man.
Trying to decided if I want the 20L or the 30L and which is better for my body size and needs. I'm just over 6ft and was curious how tall you are and if you had any extra info to help me decide or if you have had any regrets with the 20L and wished that you had the 30L?
Hi, I would choose the 30L if I was you, mostly because you could travel with just carry on with the 30L, the 20L is a bit small to take everything. I'm 6'1 in height.
Not OP, but as an owner of the 30L Everyday Backpack I can confidently say it's great in any situation. I use it as an overnight bag and set bag and it does both great. You can remove those interior dividers and free up a ton of room for nearly anything plus the ability to strap items outside the bag makes it able to carry large items like yoga mats. I'd be surprised if there's anything you can't carry with this bag.
Yeah its great to carry anything, the main things I'm carrying around and using with it are: wallet, kindle, headphones, notebook, laptop, glasses, jumper, and water bottle. I'm not often carrying around my camera.
The 20L is plenty for school and commute, but if your planning on using it for any type of trekking or travel (especially with just carry-on) then I would get the 30L.
It does not get sold with any travel or rain cover. But it is water resistant, I have been caught in the rain where the bag got completely drenched, but everything inside remained dry.
Thanks for the thorough review! At 7:48 in your video, you mentioned the Everyday Messenger not working well with a lot of weight, since it only rests on one shoulder, and therefore requires you to switch it from shoulder to shoulder throughout the day. I want to point your attention to Peak Design's video where Art shows us how the stabilizer straps can take a lot of the weight off your shoulders and move it to your hips. They're a little more involved than just throwing the EDM over your shoulder and going, but they may be of help when you know you won't be taking it off for a while! Perhaps you've already seen it, but if not, here you go! th-cam.com/video/yrjvBjmksks/w-d-xo.htmlm
Yeah I tried out those straps at different times with different amounts of weight, but they were to impractical and didn't reduce the weight on my shoulder enough. It was more practical to switch from shoulder to shoulder.
it doesn't seem to latch well. th-cam.com/video/Z0j7TCIRby4/w-d-xo.html I even tried it in the store in Seattle and it didn't seem secure enough for me. Just my preference.
Bags like this usually last forever and, if you travel with stuff a lot, can save you A LOT of time and hassle. Definitely not meant for everyone, though.
Hi Greg , do you think a dj or a producer coul use this , we usually go for UDG bags but this one looks serious , but mainly for pho stuff... since this interiors spaces looks quite modular , do you think it could feet any activity computer based , here it usually : laptop , sound card , headphones , controller , power supplies and cables
I watched the review and checked out the bag in a local store. It's got a nice look but It looks too risky without a zip top in the the event of a capsize. It probably is fine for some people, but I like bags that are a bit more secure like the lowell pro flipside.
Best review out there for the bag!
Thanks! I tried to cover everything :)
Awesome video. I've watched a few already and actually have this bag showing up tomorrow, and each video I watch I get a little more insight about it and get more excited. Am stoked to give this a go on a day trip this weekend.
Sweet! Yeah I'm excited for my next big travels with this bag. :)
Great review, very extensive. Actually this is the best review of the everyday backpack.
Thanks! This means a lot..
Wow, GREAT job of pointing out ALL the features and advantages of this bag! I ordered mine a few weeks ago and expect it in the middle of December. Good work!
Thanks! It's always a balance between covering everything and not making the video to long.
I just got this exact bag! On my birthday no less. Awesome review! You cover the features and uses very thoroughly and I'm glad you went over how to use the straps because I was a little confused how to work them all but you make it look simple!
Thanks! Yeah the straps are definitely a new feature you have to remember is there, but very handy for bulky things.
Great post. Lovely video and audio quality, tight editing, and unique walk through on the different feature sets. I have been pouring through all the videos as I await my 30L, and yours is among the strongest, if not the best review/unboxing.
Awesome! Thanks for the high praise.. :)
Really liked this! Been a fan of Peak Design for quite awhile! Keep rockin it!
Thanks! I'm loving the Backpack.
This backpack is making my mouth water, I want one. It is like getting the functionality of a Bobby backpack and the size and quality of a Kathmandu backpack and putting them together. I want one. Great review as well very comprehensive. Thumbs up! and Maybe even sub.
Thanks! Yeah the quality of these bags are so good!.. Don't forget to use the link in the description to get 10% off when you buy one.
Seriously awesome review on this pack, thank you for going so into detail
Thanks for the support, glad you liked it.
Thats a fantastic backpack. They seemed to have thought of everything.
Its very cool.. Cant wait to get traveling with it.

Given the amount of equipment you bring with the EDM, did you ever had any shoulder pain issues?
Felan no need to even ask. I definitely did.
Great review. Made it easier for me to decide to go for this one.
Cool, glad it helped :)
Great review! I really want one of these now.
Great review, I am really thinking of buying it!!!
Haha only one question, does it fit a 15' MacBook?
I have only been able to test it with my 13 inch MacBook, but it has plenty of space. Also, this is only the 20L backpack, the 30L option would have heaps of space.
Solid review! Cool backpack
Thanks! I'm getting great feedback from users of the bag.
OMG! Why didnt i knew about this bag before! just bought about 2 bags... this one seems way better !
best video I've seen, better than the ones on the PD website!
Thanks so much! Much appreciated.

Great review - thanks - much appreciate the 10% discount on the bag. I just ordered the 30L.
Your welcome! Im happy to save my viewers some cash.
the best review! thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the support.. :)
Great review of this bag, and awesome resolution!! BTW, what type of watch are you wearing; looks killer!!
Thanks! It's a Rip Curl watch I got from a surf shop about 5 years ago, I love it, its indestructible!..
Great review! Going to use your affiliate link when ordering!
Thanks :)
good job i always support you
thanks
I love your reviews!!! Can you do a pd everyday tote review? If possible? Thanks!
If I ever get that bag, I will be sure to do a review.
thank you!
Holy resolution Batman, you sir have an incredibly sharp camera. May I ask what you were using to record this highly informative and well-produced review?
Haha thanks I'm flattered..
I use a Samsung NX500 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 16-50mm Power Zoom Lens. :)
Nice!
I look forward to seeing how you use it.
Is it possible to show this being used as a day bag, travel on flight & use out on the streets?
Sure, ill include some in-feild footage in my follow up review.
good job mate
im loving the bag, will you be doing a review after you use it for a while. No one has really done a gears video and wear and tear test yet. Also, how long will your discount code be valid until? thank you

Thanks :)

haha your welcome :)
Idea of how secure the top , i see is easy open the latch and access the top .

Would this bag be able to handle large textbooks?
Hi Perlin, is that a hard strap at the bottom? I want to know if I can attach a bike light to it.
yep you can definitely use it for that, its stitched in.
I would love to see it with a full size tripod. Bag looks amazing though.
I keep my tripod in the side pocket with an external strap to keep it secure, works great.
Just did a check of cost and it works out to be $387 AUS or $284US for 20L with a saving on postage with link. That seems a really expensive pack even given all the features.

thnnks bro I m searching this type of bag from a long tike
Its a great bag, very durable.
хорошо и доходчего все показал и объяснил,молодец,теперь можешь мне его подарить)))
I'm stuck between this bag and the Niko Chrome backpack. Anyone have the Niko Chrome bag or have a preference??
I have a Thule Crossover 25L, zipper broken, they offer me if I want to switch to Thule Subterra 25L, I could not decide, which one is better, more durable, and more practically useful? The Subterra 25l doesn't have top zipper and only a fold down flap which I'm not sure if this can prevent water go in.
I don't have experience with either of those bags.
I'd be more than happy for them to send me one for review after being a loyal customer for a while, with my subs that should get them some good UK/USA coverage :D hint hint PD... Good video man.
Thanks! Email them and ask, you could get lucky..
:D
woooow so beautiful
It is a nice looking bag..
Trying to decided if I want the 20L or the 30L and which is better for my body size and needs. I'm just over 6ft and was curious how tall you are and if you had any extra info to help me decide or if you have had any regrets with the 20L and wished that you had the 30L?

Good to know, thanks! :)
Rain cover?
It doesn't come with a rain cover, the material is water resistant but definitely not water proof.
Gonna agree with everyone else.. Great review man, best one out there. Subbed! Can't wait for mine :3
Awesome to hear! Your gonna love the bag.
Would you recommend this bag to someone that's not always carrying a camera. Or do you consider this bag as a photographers bag(not for students)?
Not OP, but as an owner of the 30L Everyday Backpack I can confidently say it's great in any situation. I use it as an overnight bag and set bag and it does both great. You can remove those interior dividers and free up a ton of room for nearly anything plus the ability to strap items outside the bag makes it able to carry large items like yoga mats. Strack9421 thanks for info.
Perlin's Adventure Blog okay awesome, do you think the 30L would be too big for day to day use (school & commute) compared to the 20 L.
The 20L is plenty for school and commute, but if your planning on using it for any type of trekking or travel (especially with just carry-on) then I would get the 30L.
is this 20L or 30L? thanks!
This one is 20L
is it waterproof?
It's water resistant, so it will be fine if water gets splashed onto it, but I wouldn't take it out into the rain.
can I put there 17" MacBook pro ?
the 20L will hold a 15" and the 30L will hold a 16".
i want the side to have that magnetic clip as well, so that i dont have to zip unzip everytime
I think they didn't do that because it would be to easy for things to fall out of the sides when your walking.
No cover?
It does not get sold with any travel or rain cover. But it is water resistant, I have been caught in the rain where the bag got completely drenched, but everything inside remained dry.
Anyone has it in stock for sale? I need one right now everyday backpack 20ltr
Grab a mic for your camera brother✌
Its on my list..
So annoyed, wanted to travel with this bag, it just got delivered but i'm in Vietnam already :(
I hate when that happens.. the life of a continuous traveler. :)
good luck using this on crowded places
Works fine in every crowded place I've taken it.

Gotcha. Well, it was worth a try! Glad you got the backpack! That's what I want to get, too.
No top zipper...... Tip it over and you have a yard sale. Not recommended.
Thats what the latch is for... if you tip it over nothing falls out, I have done it many times.
it doesn't seem to latch well. th-cam.com/video/Z0j7TCIRby4/w-d-xo.html I even tried it in the store in Seattle and it didn't seem secure enough for me. Just my preference.
Really nice backpack, but surely too expensive.
scartezz1 it is, but it's super high quality. Get 10% off by using the link.
Peak Design's products are priced like the 2016 Macbook Pro. They are cool but they are never worth the prices. Nice review though.
They are super high quality, I travel everywhere with my bag putting it through every condition and it still looks and functions perfect.
I'm not saying they're bad. I'm saying you can find the same quality and functionality for much cheaper price. To each his own though, I guess.
I could watch a video of you just saying the words... WoddaBoddle
Hahaha I'll be making a follow up review for this backpack soon. In it ill be talking more about the "wodda boddle" issue... Stay tuned.
You need a microphone, I could barely hear what you were saying.
Tech Innuendo turn up the volume moron
269$ for a bag? heck no
Bags like this usually last forever and, if you travel with stuff a lot, can save you A LOT of time and hassle. Definitely not meant for everyone, though.

Side pockets are great for thieves.. I'm honestly not impressed.
you can lock theme. have you even watched the review?
I watched the review and checked out the bag in a local store. It's got a nice look but It looks too risky without a zip top in the the event of a capsize. It probably is fine for some people, but I like bags that are a bit more secure like the lowell pro flipside.
As I said before, I did watch the review.
