Yt randomly suggested this video to me so i don't live near by the shop at all but just hearing this makes me sad and makes me appreciate the local shop i do have a whole lot more gotta support the loacal homies sorry to hear you had to shut down my man wish the best of luck to you
Club Distribution sponsored our main event last year with Slid Roll & Kick Push Radio. Awesome time. Can't wait to link up again!! Sorry to hear about your skate shop closing down. Bigger doors will open for sure, as it seems they are already are w/ Club Distribution 🤙
That rent is a true M'fer. My local skate shop closed down. They were selling product but it wasn't enough to keep up with rent payments. I've seen liquor stores by me close down to because of the rent to the landlord.
Good video my dude! It’s definitely interesting seeing the behind the scene and struggling. Bro you made a huge impact in the Chico skate community! No one else put on as many comps as you did! Stoked to see more vids!
Thank you brother , one of the best parts was working with you!! And we will continue doing more and yes I want to make videos again we should do one together!
Best of luck man! Is this a new shop your opening ? Or taking over a shop ? If you need any support let me know! I’ll gladly shout you out on my insta and help connect with some brands
Thanks man! As far as zumies I have no clue there is a zumies in my area but as far as I knew they didn’t do much locally for the most part I’d did a majority of the events with others
I heard you mention Redding. Some communities have money, and understand the loss of small business, and will try not let that happen. Not every kid plays football or baseball, soccer or basketball some are just drawn to skate, plus park's are a part of growing city plans now.
Yea Redding is about an hour and a half away from me I’m in Chico , I want to build back to having a shop again but that will take some time and I am going to focus on building a stronger foundation and structure
@@SickDaysPodcasthour and a half! Are you riding a moped?😂 seriously though it was 45 min drive back in the day. Planet X I think was the shop in Chico back in the day. Any regard check out his space he built a little indoor skatepark attached and holds events, auctions and swap meets. Def something to think about. The trick I think is bringing something unique that online can’t compete with.❤
That’s super interesting to hear , the shops near me never really focused on shoes I had some in my shop but it was pricey and most big brands like Nike wouldn’t let me open account and same with Vans , though I do feel like I would have had a more financial foothold with those brands in the shop. Coolest thing I heard about my shop was that it was the most authentic skate shop they have been too for what it’s worth
Yeah it was a super bummer when Johnny Rads in Redding shut down. After almost thirty years. I shot the last shop video and it closed shortly after seems to be a theme. It’s a shame because the community a skate shop provides is invaluable for kids but cheaper retail online without the overhead is the future and the future is already here. Kids will have to be that community on there own. I guess that’s where social media could bridge that gap idk 🤷🏽♂️🛹❤️
I definitely agree with that , for the next time I open I want to focus with online sales before I get a brick and mortar store. There was just something awesome about having a space where skaters could come and hang out , the next time I want a warehouse space to hold events and art shows/music shows. Mainly a fusion of activities center with skateboarding
Hell yea dude! It was a dream of mine since I was a freshman in high school , the feeling of getting doors open is next level , doing my best to come back

Thanks dude I appreciate it! It sucked but I learned a lot , and yes support the places that support the skate scene! I want to open again eventually

Dude that’s dope! Yea Club is a great group of people! Stoked to be taken under there wing and learn as much as possible !
Stay up Bro you got your brand in with same dist as legendary Shortys that’s a pretty sick accomplishment in the small world of skating 🙌
Thank you brother 💪🏽 I remain hopeful! As long as I’m still able to be involved with the skate community and bring good memories I am happy !
