As someone who breaks a lot of boards, I simply can't afford to buy 2-3 full price pro boards a month... If shops stopped selling reasonably-priced shop boards. I'd probably have to stop skating.

I was having the same issue until I discovered the Powell Flight Decks. They cost almost double what a normal deck cost but are totally worth it. You will not break it and you will feel a new freedom getting to skate without the constant fear of breaking your deck

Skate shops are just grocery stores. They sell other companies products. This means that every skate shop that ever existed was and is a middle man. They purchase wholesale and then raise the prices to make a profit. We live in 2023. We all know about the internet now. Simply buy your products from the source online…

All cap . Support the "pro" brands for what? So the money can go into those pockets . No ! Shop decks and local brands only where skateboards can be affordable and you help the community not brands that don't do anything for you. I sell boards for 40$ so it's affordable, im here to kill corporate greed because no one should be deprived of skating because they can't afford it !!

The point is there are fewer mega stars in skating. And Instagram has had the effect of diminishing the skate video part. These days a lot of the money for pros comes from other places like shoes, energy drinks, trucks, wheels, and with most pros having blue checks on their ig they won't have too hard of a time finding something they're interested in to do an add for, and sadly I have to say if there were no pros then skateboarding would still thrive in my opinion. And also shops that survive from selling shop boards are keeping skateboarding alive so the argument that the pros are keeping it alive is bull shit. If they go out of business from trying to just sell pro boards then that's bad for skating cause it's one less shop and one less place to buy pro skaters boards.

Because nowadays it seems people care more for park skaters, or competition skaters, there’s no space for icons anymore… it’s too robotic. I like street skate, and video parts and living in Europe, I see way more creativity around here and “unknown” skaters that are ripping, but not in that competition circle. I used to dream about having skate parts and a board pro model…kids nowadays think about SLS and have a sponsorship with Red Bull or Nike… not saying it’s wrong, but leaves less space for urban legends I’d say
