Rurikhan Hey, would you suggest making loadouts with different weapons for different monsters or just main a specific weapon? Im a beginner and would like to know what you think. Thanks!
Personally I tend to focus on a weapon type, like the Gunlance, then I craft a bunch of them and change depending on the weaknesses of the monster I'm fighting.
I had no idea that you only needed ONE streamstone to create the THREE gems it shows the empty boxes for! I assumed you would be using three streamstones for the transaction, but the game was just letting you do three at a time to save some time. Awesome tip, Rurikhan!
Sorry to point out some inaccuracies but I just want to clear something up. When melding worn, and glowing and mysterious stones there is a chance to get stones of different rarities. There are 4 tables regarding rarity of stones. C B A S Mysterious Feystone - C 85% B 15% Gleaning Feystone - C 65% B 34% A 1% Worn Feystone - C 10% B 82% A 6% S 2% Warped Feystone - B 77% A 18% S 5% So when appraising said stone you have a chance of going up or down in rarity of the jewel. Hope this helps
It is possible to find a first wyverian dude in the field while on expedition or a quest, and if you talk to him he may sometimes gift you a wyverian print. I've only ever gotten steel prints, but it is possible.
Yeah I had to give the video a thumbs down. I've been trying to explain to a friend the whole concept of the Elder melder trade mechanic, and he wanted to see it done visually. The beginning of this video simply confused the hell out of him. Found a different video that's not 20 fucking minutes with the first four wasting time. 5 minutes only and straight to the point.
I think that unequipping your jewels is exactly what you shouldn't do, since you wouldn't want to meld them by mistake. Although you can use this to know which ones you can or not meld with the spreadsheet, I don't think it's worth the trouble to update the number on such a few gems.
3:31 "i know, i open this up and there's a bunch of stuff onscreen and your like "Jeeesus CHrist! so many goddamn things"" yupp, recently started now with the PC release without playing monster hunter before and that's the first impression of most menus in this game xD
Very helpful video, too bad the whole melding thing is way to stingy... yeah sure when you're 600 hours into the game and you're drowning in streamstones and useless decorations it might be worth to use. But by then you probably also have more than enough of every other gem you need (except Attack Boost most likely...). The exchange rate is a bit too ridiculous for my taste. You have to trade in anywhere from 14 to 27 decorations to get a chance of 3 random ones? Yeah nope... i'll just do one tempered quest with 3+ rewards instead... I know it's just "another option" and once you're over the treshhold for each skill you don't need the additional ones... but damn, they could've made it a "little" less wasteful as an alternative to grinding tempered quests all day long.
there's absolutely no value in "14-27" decorations when you have more than you need. absolutely no reason to keep them. the only thing you're really trading in is research points (cmon... basically nothing) and gleaming streamstones which are useless if you don't already have hero's streamstones for your desired rarity 8 weapon augment and for augmenting armor, again useless if you don't have enough armor spheres to level them up in the first place. at that point, i'd rather get rid of my wasted excess gems and gamble them for almost nothing of value lost for essentially free chances at more decorations. once you have enough of the other materials you need for an augment, it takes no effort to get gleaming streamstones since you get at least one guaranteed from any elder dragon tempered hunt. i'd rather trade in every duplicate i have for any non duplicate of a useful skill i still need a jewel for.
Fastest way to unequip all decorations is to use Set Decorations > Equipment Box > press start to remove all Decorations (that option may not have existed at the time of this video)
I'm a Monster Hunter veteran since the original, but I never progressed to the end of any of them because I lost patience. Your videos are helping me change that with this game and I appreciate it! Thank you for your great explanations!
Any of them after MHFU* I meant. But I put like 200 hours in that one and at least 50 in all the others. I just never had the patience or people to play with for the other ones. Like I loved Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate but didn't have Internet access at the time so I kind of hit a wall playing solo.
Jr Garibay Tbf, war veterans need not finish the war they participate in to be gain veteran status. As long as OP has a good grasp of the gameplay & mechanics, I don’t see why he can’t be a MH veteran.
What happens if you traded and have excess points? I mean, I know you can just set it so it is exactly the amount you need. But just in case it happens
Just a tip, you can preview what you will get from melding decorations by uploading your save to online storage or storing it on a USB. Then, just meld a whole bunch of decorations cause you’re gonna reset your save. The RNG seed remains constant so when you reset your save just memorize how many melds you need until you reach the meld you want. Any ritual advances the seed by 1, and completing a quest advances it by a pattern of 1-1-2 (need to experiment to see which part of the pattern you’re currently on).
Capcom really screwed me here I melded my only attack gem thinking that I was getting an attack gem. I have 300hours and am lvl 120 and have yet to get another one.
Seeing how rare this thing seems to be makes me wonder if it's really intended or a bug... I mean yeah, Attack Boost is a very potent skill for a level 1 gem. But i've seen tons and tons of people complaining they spent over 100-200h farming tempered monsters and not get a single one. That seems kind of ridiculous. >_< I've only recently started farming tempered quests and haven't gotten one either of course, and knowing my luck i probably never will if it's "that" rare.
I appreciate the video! I kinda think the cost of the Melder is still a little unbalanced for its output (especially in the sense of the amount of points required to do it, on top of the use of all the jewels needed and gambling aspect of the whole process, too). Either way, this video clarified a lot. So thanks again!
Thank you for explaining this. The game's built-in tutorial ironically does not do nearly as good a job as you do at explaining the basics to a complete noob like me.
I got it the wrong way around thinking that the right side was the items I get and the right side was my inventory and ended up losing my attack gem... Something I wish I had known before hand lol
The mechanics of the Elder Melder are a very easy concept to grasp my friends; put good decorations in, get shit out. Conversely, if you put shit in, you'll still get shit out.(All joking aside, it's a good way to clean house on any useless decorations you may have, and potentially net you decent decorations like Maximum Might, Attack Boost, etc. Just don't rely on her to give you the highest tier decorations imaginable.)
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but essentially with the wyverian ritual, if you want A or S tear jewels only, the first two melding techniques (spire sorcery and coral concoction) are useless and a complete waste of jewels because it is not possible to get those high tear jewels?
I have occasionally recieved prints from the 1st wyverians you can meet on expeditions...you know the ones that do the monthly weapon popularity report or something? But they give you things when you talk to them
No, everyone gets 1 attack gem for "free" during the melding tutorial. It's just subsequent ones which are rare. Kinda like how in Iceborne now, everyone gets a Crit Eye+ gem, but past that freebie, it is a very rare 4 slot gem to get.
hi Thanks for this helpful video!! I just started playing MHW, i noticed the items available from the melder (left column) are really basic, i don't see any gems or rubies at all (i'm looking for Rathalos Ruby). How can i get my melder to offer the items i actually want/need? I've been having fun playing but i'm starting to get tired of grinding Rathalos without any sign of it dropping the Rathalos Ruby at all...
The only reason I use the melding pot is for the different gems. Other than that, I rarely use it for decorations because who why get rid of decorations when you could just get more from some lousy tempered monster?
I have Melded a lot of objects into Ancient potions but when I have confirmed the items are not in my item box or item pouch. How do you collect the items?
Basically a recycle option if you get to a point were you have many spare jewels or if you dont want to grind a specific item and you manage to have some prints with you :)
quick question, a level 3 gem does that mean it will give you three nodes of that talent ( so equipping a level 3 jewel will give you 3x that talent, Attack/Poison etc
You get low tier decos from low tier monsters, and high tier decos from high tier monsters. Or better gems from mid tier monsters that are tempered. Not that hard to comprehend. And what? Lvl 3 decos require lvl 3 slot, lvl 2 decos require lvl 2 or 3 slot, lvl 1 decos need 1-3 slot..?
I feel like this is one of the few things in MHW that didn't really need to be explained. It's so so straightforward at least compared to everything else that it all just clicked when I first saw it.
Can you explain the augmenting stuff? I can’t figure it out. I think threat level 2 monsters can drop that one item, but idk. Also, do the double elder dragon invests have better drops or something?
Do TH-camrs all take speed-talking classes before starting to make videos? Almost every tip/trick vid in gaming is done by someone whose dinner is getting cold.
What type of monsters do I have to go after to get regular streamstones? I have the heroic streamstones, but I need 2 regular streamstones to augment my weapon. I can't find anyone that tells how you get them.....
The best way to get large amounts that I have found is to equip your Palico with the Plunderblade Palico Gadget (If you haven't unlocked that yet, highly recommend you do, go to Rotten Vale, search for "doodles" until your scatterflies guide you to a grymelkyne that you have to feed a piece of raw meat to). As your Palicos proficiency with it increases it'll unlock the Palarang and your Palico will sometimes force a monster to drop an item. Most of the time that item will be a crafting material but sometimes it will drop something like a Wyvern Tear which will give you hundreds of research points. I've gotten between 150-800 points just from a single item. You also get quite a bit of points from completing bounties and you can get points from gathering spots such as Cacti in the Wastelands, Ancient Fossils in the Coral Highlands and Beryl or Amber Deposits in the Elders Recess.

Almost a whole year after you made this video and its still useful.(just started playing a month ago on PC)
Yeah. The best explanation I could find.
2 years now. still great vid and explanation
It's still useful in 2021, timeless classic right here.
Still useful 3 years later lol

Well that's good to know, and a little bit of a bummer; nothing's perfect, though, so it does make sense, he said rolling his eyes. lol Good tip

Big thank you for the explanation video from a new player that started few days ago. Really well explained.
Man u always make things so simple to understand especially if u don't have grind time luv ur vids and presentations
Took a long break from world and getting back into it and realising I have forgot so much so good to watch these kinds of videos.
Elder Melder: less attractive than the handler and quickly approaching her usefulness.
And by usefullness i mean she has so little utility is laughable.
My palico is more of a handler
@@justrcd Maybe get coral orchestra gadget for your palico?
Still best explanation 5 years later
I think that unequipping your jewels is exactly what you shouldn't do, since you wouldn't want to meld them by mistake. Although you can use this to know which ones you can or not meld with the spreadsheet, I don't think it's worth the trouble to update the number on such a few gems.
Now I finally understand the melding in this game!
if you do all the missions from the fisherman and the researcher of wildlife you get 1 gold wyverian print from each
Great video,
The spreadsheet ALONE is worth a like
3:31 "i know, i open this up and there's a bunch of stuff onscreen and your like "Jeeesus CHrist! so many goddamn things"" yupp, recently started now with the PC release without playing monster hunter before and that's the first impression of most menus in this game xD
Shaderox Same here. Been playing MHW since close to launch & I only just started using the melder bc i didnt want to accidentally waste any gems
I know this isn't a combat guide but thanks to u I've started to go in sword and shield
Go to equipment box option press start and itll clear all gems on all gear in inventory

@@icebarrage_iwc Surprisingly good argument, in my opinion. Kinda makes sense of it all.

Wow this is pretty handy, I've just been ignoring this system, the safari system and the sailor system haha

Hey how did you get so much research points? I often have to do runs for more but never get a drastic amount. Have any tips?
Crit Draw. Do you get it from tier 1, 2 or 3 of melding?
Its tier 4
Can u meld a lunastra plate ?
One of question how do i unlock the odogaron plate unlock
is that the only way to level 2&3 decorations?
I believe level 2 tempered monsters drop level 2 decorations and elder dragons drop level 3. Idk, not completely sure.
Good job with this video.
What do I do with commendations and trailsider vouchers?
Twisted Gamer Those are used to make armor and charms.
Great vid keep it up
