I'd say the surprise for Matt is the old truck bed of Blue Steel made into something else, like a couch or table.
I've never seen a color matched flat bed before! Can't believe how awesome it looks!
It sure does look awesome, and the amazing part is its color matched powder coat!!! 😮
They got lucky with the powder coating supplier having a very close color.

I had a customer who had a mural painted on one interior end wall which featured him leaning on a railing, watching the workers.

On the mudflaps I would use an aluminum strip under the washers. Rubber tends to ripple between the washers if you don't.

I did this on Peterbilts, can confirm he is 100% right. We had stainless steel strips, cause its Peterbilt lol.
We've been using stainless bolts and nuts, too. That way you don't have to replace the bolts when you replace the mud flaps, makes it easier to take apart, too.
Fender washer work good aswell
We've been running dump trucks for almost 30 years. The mud flaps are sandwiched between steel plates one of which is fastened to the truck or trailer and the other is bolted through the mud flap. Don't need fender washers. Mud flaps are a consumable, they wear out, get cut, get ripped off, but usually don' t need to be replaced as often as the tires. Because they are exposed to the elements, get coated with mud, etc; zinc plated bolts & nuts rust and usually break when you need to remove them. When we went to stainless fasteners we found the extra cost was saved because we could reuse them and there was less time involved in replacing the mud flap.
Muralize all of your walls with all of the iconic builds you've done. And get bill to do it all for you. That'd be ace.

It turned out great I really like the color match. But that headache rack needs to be rebuilt. It really takes away from the rest of the truck.

Much respect on being a dad! Right before my son was born a friend said, " You have friends childern you love, niece's, nephew's etc. you love, but your heart is going to walk outside your body with this child." Nothing I have been told is more true. If your child hurts physically or mentally it hits you right in the heart. Going to the Barbi movie with your daughter just let's me know even more about your character. Before you know it Robbie you will be looking at a college student. Take your time and enjoy every minute. The memories are forever!

Other than the headache rack is looks great! I’d also take the opportunity to put the custom springs on it, it may be sitting ok now but with what he tows and that only being a 250, air bags or not, it be incredibly beneficial to upgrade.

@@BIGTRUCK7.3 true, but in my experience it doesn’t really cost any more to get custom ones made you end up with something tailor made. To be honest with how that truck is likely going to be used I’d of seriously considered doing a dually conversion. (Or trading it in on an F450. 😇)
Superduty airlift bags are cheap and easy to install. Well worth it.

Awesome job! If I was to offer my two cents (which means nothing) the only thing letting it down is the headache rack, you really should have taken the opportunity to come up with something cool, maybe even seen if Flog wanted to make something matching that front bumper. To me it just looks goofy. 🤷♂️ That mural is killer!

All the weight of new bed, heavy trailers & loads.... Im supprised Matt hasn't swapped the rear axle out for a dually. The added ability & stability for towing heavy is amazing.

24:37 You just need an LED flasher relay. It has one from 2016, but just meant for the OEM lights with no adjustment. Resistor adds power usage, damages alternators/FBR. An off the shelf flasher relay with an adjustment trim pot on it is a better fix as it doesn't put strain on your harness. Adjust a screw to increase/decrease flash speed. 10$ on eBay. That relay didn't wanna cut on, created impedance & blew the fuse. New fuse may blow too. Putting that "all the time" strain from resistors on your harness will damage the alternators full bridge rectifier (FBR) prematurely. & Matt has enough things damaging his alternators. (Winch) I put that adjustable relay in my 05 Toyota 6 years ago and it works great.
This is exactly what he needs. This works perfectly 100%
These fords dont have fasher relays the chassis module's control the flashers on these trucks, a dealer or shop can plug into them and change the setting to allow LEDs without doing any load equalizers

Did awesome job definitely! sadly the headache rack bothers the crap out of me and should of been fixed before all that powder coating but its not mine so as long as matt likes it that is what matters.

Sunday as a viewer I was rewarded to see you in the booth where you were spraying Blue Steel. Plus it was so interesting to see the repair of the rear door covered in scratches and swirl marks.Both doors matched perfectly and the shine was unreal! Everything looked new when the matching bed was installed! Perfection and so much content in one show! Loved it!! But… cliffhanger surprise a must see so I’ll catch you next time!

Not the hugest fan of the aesthetics of the flat bed but the refurb you guys did on this truck is amazing. It literally is like new.

Top notch quality work as always, though I do agree with everyone that the flatbed seams too wide and tall with the headache rack.
It’s a simple fix for adding LED marker and turn tail lights to a vehicle that was not built with them originally
It’s all in the flasher put an LED compatible flasher. Or some people call it a mechanical flasher. Adding a resistor to the circuit although it will work is not the correct fix. also, when adding aftermarket lighting The connection at the back of the light it’s gonna be the failure point from corrosion within months
You can get those same lights with the watertight seal connection .
If you are looking for different artists to paint: you have to include, Myron Starr from SC, AZ. Amazing artist and he does amazing work through out Arizona.🎉

Just an idea. All our Roustabout trucks got bed liner sprayed on the top of the beds. Helps alot with grip. Because climibing up there during the rain, snow or ice will always end in some painful memories.
I'm a matt's offroad recovery fan, this project is actually what brought me to this channel and I think you got yourselves a fan out of it. Being a fan of matt's I'm guessing/ hoping for him and his crews sake it's a slip tank to put on that snazzy new flatbed. Great job on Blue steel!

Being a detailer for the last 10+ years and trying out so all sorts of buffers and polishers. Once I got the rupes it was a game changer !! You've really gotta appreciate the rupes bigfoot. Its such a fantastic machine. Its insanely versatile and extremely easy to use. An for the amount of things it does so well it's fairly cheap yet lasts forever. 💯💪

Dang, first a super troopers reference then a happy gilmore reference? Excellent.
I did bodywork years ago. Everyone did the blow and the tack, but anti-static guns were not a thing yet. Robby should really demonstrate how and why it works. To the uninitiated, it just looks like a spray gun with no paint. Just like rubbing a balloon will cause static to build up, there's a lot of rubbing on the vehicles as the sanding is going on which builds up a static charge on the panels which will attract any and all dust. Other demonstrations show how a cotton thread is attracted to the surface before the static is removed.
It has a battery inside and the air discourses positive and negatively charged ions on to the panel which neutralizes the static
That’s a actually great way of explaining it! Static is something we might not normally think about but it can really wreak havoc. It may sound silly but that’s why it’s not necessarily safe to carry plastics gas cans in the back of a truck with a plastic bed liner. The plastic rubbing against plastic has been known to cause static and ignite the gas/vapor.

You should talk to your local High School art department. Some high schools will allow the art class to do murals. Usually, they ask you to provide materials and may ask for a donation to the art program or something similar. I'll be in Ephriam next Monday, I hope to drop in and say Hi.

What a great job on the mural. You have a great talent.
In house painting opacity = lack of Holidays. I guess the story is that a "Holiday" is a spot you were sleeping or on Holiday when you went to paint it and either didn't cover all the way or forgot the whole second coat altogether!!
Bonus facts: 1)The texture that is left behind after spraying or rolling is called "Stipple" .
2) Painters started wearing painters whites because white was the most common color of paint and if you got some on you it didn't stand out as much
3) Once color mixing became popular , the unions required painters whites for a different reason. They found that any color on your clothes would cast a hue on the paint you were custom tinting by hand (No Color Match Machines) . With paint matching being mostly done by eye, the color of your clothes could really mess up a batch of paint.
