    💜 ABOUT ME:
    Hi and welcome! I'm Tanya and the only thing I like more than learning languages is probably talking about learning languages (well, that and hoarding language books).
    My first language is Russian and I'm currently in different stages of learning English, Spanish, Polish, Italian, Korean, Greek and Japanese.

    this video is a GODSEND!!! to be honest, my initial motivation to learn greek was the song "i won't say i'm in love" from disney's hercules, sung in greek😅 but i'm so happy to now have access to so many resources! i had to fistfight several viruses off of my phone due to shady greek apps. once again, thank you! i wish you all the best in your language learning journey :)

    Thank you so much for this informative video. I am learning Greek lile you and the text books you mentioned are really good. I would add to listen to music songs and to cooking shows is also a great opportunity to learn Greek. There is also a Facebook Greek student community where you can exchange a lot about how to learn it! I have started learning Japanese like you and I have to admit is more difficult than Greek. 😂

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a resource video this useful, also, I absolutely loved the greek for you book, seems like exactly the way I approach language learning. And I didn’t like closemaster at first, but since you recommended I decided to give it a try and go back to japanese with it and it seems nice after all. Thank you!

    Thank you greek is like Japanese and Chinese were it's a completely different alphabet and basically everything is different but at least for those languages there's 20 videos and there in every language learning app it's so hard to find unlike when I learnt French and Spanish so your a life saver 😅

    This is a really great video. I have been learning Greek for about 18 months now and use many of the resources that you have pointed out here. Another good Podcast is the Omilo Podcast, they have some intermediate stories. I have listed to them all many times and am now starting to get the hang of most of them. I am at about A2, trying to get to B1 level and I agree that it's quite hard to find good beginner comprehensible input in Greek. How long have you been learning Greek?

    Thanks sooo much! 💖Also Language Transfer has a Greek course 🙌 but it's for intermediate, not for 100% zero beginners. I really want to study Greek in the future, because my native is Spanish and I like the alphabet and I want a language with easy pronunciation (and...I don't like Italian or Portuguese) and the alphabet is so pretty

      So it's very much a petty reason, but I've recently become aware of the Language Transfer founder's political views on certain issues, and I don't feel comfortable endorsing him anymore. His courses are free, and I have no issue with people using them, I just won't be the one to recommend them, if it makes sense 🤷‍♀️

    • @joachimjustinmorgan4851
      @joachimjustinmorgan4851 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, they aren’t. At least not from a smart phone. If you purchase them on a desktop computer they may be, but I’m not sure. I’ve only ever purchased them on my I-phone.

    • @tbenavente
      @tbenavente  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the digital version comes in the form of an app instead of a file, so no, I don’t think it’d be possible to use them on LingQ. What I did is use the free audio to generate transcript on LingQ. The transcript comes out pretty good, but not perfect, and this is where having the actual reader (whether digital or printed) comes in handy, as you can use it to proofread LingQ’s transcript. It’s a clunky process but I couldn’t think of a better alternative

    Hi Tanya, thank you so much for the information. I would like to ask where could I find the digital version for Greek for you? Your videos always inspired me a lot 😊

    • @tbenavente
      @tbenavente  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! You can buy the digital versions here (just be sure to get the right version for you, as there are many translations of the same book): www.neohel.com/greek-for-you-digital-shop/. Things to keep in mind though: instead of getting a single file (like a PDF), what you get is access to their platform through which you access the book itself. This means that if you want to use it in an app like Goodnotes, you essentially have to find a way to convert it to a PDF (e.g. screenshotting the pages and compiling them into one file).
      Also, if you buy the digital version, you only get access to their platform for 15 months, which is not ideal, but can also be motivating to actually finish the book before you lose access to it

      Greek For You is not the best option there. I have them for all levels and very often you can find mistakes, very misleading and confusing. To give you an example, the word τίποτε is never used by the Greeks. The correct form is τίποτα and no other variation (fyi, the book suggests both forms).

  • @dokyeos
    @dokyeos 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    hi tanya! thank you for this video. i just bought the a1 greek for you book, how did you go about importing it to goodnotes? thank you ❤️

    • @tbenavente
      @tbenavente  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So the process is kinda clunky (and probably not entirely legal lol), but you can either screenshot the pages and compile them into a PDF or you can access the source code of the platform (usually right click anywhere on the web page once you have the book open => "inspect" and then follow the instructions here: snipboard.io/Wuymec.jpg), download each individual page (I know 😅) and compile it into a file. The screenshot I linked above is from safari, so it might look a bit different in another browser. If you run into a problem, let me know!

You mentioned in the video, that you use greek for you as ebook, this would be so much cheaper. but when I checked the website, and I chose to put A0, A1 textbook and A1 training book into the cart, I realised that it would cost me about 75 Euros. Thank you for such a good overview of resources for learning Greek. "Greek for You" is a wonderful textbook. There was no mention of resources to avoid and there is one that beginners shouldn't try: Language Transfer Greek. People studying Greek who are at an intermediate level may find it useful, but it is too difficult for beginners.
