  • In this video I go through the history of the Canon Canonet line of rangefinder cameras, show some example images I've taken, and go on a photo walk in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls.
    Studio scenes and b-roll are shot with my Canon 5DIV
    Photo walk video is shot with my GoPro Hero 8 Black

    I love this info! I will be adding a Canonet to my collection when that Camera Trade Show comes around in Brecksville. They always have a lot of good Canonets there!

      Thanks! I worked there for almost a decade. Used to carry my film cameras sometimes.

    Great video, the Olympus Trip 35 uses the same style selenium light meter around the lens.

    Ever considered a really *small* film camera with auto-manual controls? If I remember my camera store salesperson days, Olympus made the XA and XA2 cameras from full auto P&S to a model with at least aperture priority auto.
    But the bonus is, it's half the size of a Canonet, which I've owned since the 80's.
    There's also the Rollei line of great optics-equipped miniature cameras. They're really kitchy: they had the old-style, manually retractable lens!

      I’ve seen them but I only buy cameras I find in person. Flea markets, garage sales etc. I’m afraid if I start buying online I’ll go broke! (I have bought one camera online - my Minolta XD-11. I had always wanted one and when I dropped thousands on my last pro camera I figured “what the heck - I can spend $150 on the film SLR I’ve always wanted)

    Great video! Somehow I thought that Canonet 28 has shutter priority mode so I've just purchased one. Joke's on me.
    BTW Olympus Pen SS has a similar look with a selenium exposure meter.

    I have the (new) Canonet 28. I also did a review on it on my channel. I love that thing. I need to replace the light seals, so will be checking out your video on that.

      Did you find any trouble shooting with batteries with higher voltage? I saw your video and you said that you used 1.5V batteries, i have a canonet 28 without the batteries and I'm thinking about buying the LR9 that you recommend in your video, but i dont know if this change of voltage can affect in a bad way, as you can read I'm not much of an expert. Thanks in advance.

    Hello, I have a Cannnet QL19, and I have a question, the lense has in the aperture in Blu color the numbers 28, 20 and 14and in Blue also in the speed 30th of a second. No idea what is their function.

      I have to admit I'm not 100% sure. It is either a shutter priority mode or something to do with flash sync.

    - I just got a Canonet 28 so this was a great video for me to watch.
    The only downside was that the music (actually the words) made it hard to concentrate on what you were saying. But I'm going to check out your videos now. 🙂🙃🙂

      Oh cool - great little cameras. What are you watching on - the mix doesn't sound off to me? but I'm always trying to get better. I'm working on a bunch more film camera content for this channel. Had taken a break from it for a bit. (I have a much more popular channel about cycling that kind of took over for a while).

    If you prefer SLR's and want to keep the size down, have you considered the little Nikon EM perhaps..?

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have small SLR's - the difference is more in the front to back size. The lenses are still going to take up much space. Unfortunately since posting this video my little Canonet has died - so I've just been shooting my beloved Minolta SLR's anyways.

    Entre la cámara QL17 G3 o la Canonet 28 cual es más cara y cual recomendarías comprar?

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      La QL 17 es una cámara manual completa, ya que la 28 es más una cámara de apuntar y disparar. Los QL son siempre más caros y raros.

    My 94 year old mom found a Canonet QL 25 with its case while cleaning out her drawers. Is there a market for this at least for parts? She doesn't want to throw it away. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!

    • @fitzwaterphotography9971
      @fitzwaterphotography9971  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really - even tested and working it wouldn’t be worth $100. The best thing would be to give it away to somebody who wants it - even for decorating a shelf.
