    Such good tips, if only I'd seen this before I went to Costa Rica! I agree with all of the advice you've given!

      It's funny how similar some of the advice is with Costa Rica and Bali! I think coozies would be an excellent addition to daily life that I've forgotten about.

    These video are great, I’ll be backpacking for a long time in Costa Rica any tips for long stays, (I’ll be there for a year minimum) thanks

      Hope this is still helpful - sorry for the late message! 1. Make sure you know your visa requirements. For those in the US, you have to leave every 90 days (make sure this time frame hasn't changed, this was what it was when I lived there) for 72 hours. Long weekends in Nicaragua or Panama are a must and so much fun! Great for a long stay. Just do your research before hand! 2. Near the coasts, paper/books get pretty moldy/moisture-filled, so take one book to trade (if you really like), and try to get most paperwork digital if you need it for a while. I recommend a ziplock baggie for your passport, in fact! 3. I'd try volunteering for a cheaper stay - check out my video "How to Volunteer and Travel Around the World" on how to do this. It'll save you a lot of money and you'll make friends for life!

    Hi, my family and I are going to Dominical and we are worried about getting sick from fruits and vegetables, also its our first time do you have any tips for that area? Anyone with any tips will be appreciated :)

    • @Leapofaithlife
      @Leapofaithlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I apologize for missing this message! I hope you had a great time - fruits and veggies from normal stores/restaurants tend to be not a problem. Just make sure you wash like you normally would. Smoothies are very popular and I highly recommend! If you normally have a sensitive stomach, bring along your medication/Pepto/etc., although pharmacies there are very helpful. For Dominical advice, mangrove and kayak tours are a must, as well as the local wildlife/animal sanctuaries doing amazing animal work. Have fun!

    Would you know if gluten Free options are available in the stores? Are groceries expensive.

    • @Leapofaithlife
      @Leapofaithlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I totally missed this! I hope you had a great time - but if you still need the info, a lot of places had gluten free options. Just make sure you learn how to ask in Spanish and you're golden. Of course, the larger cities will be easier than the more remote locations, and most resort hotels it's no problem. Grocery stores are expensive for certain items - food is ok price-wise (compared to the US, but expensive for Central America), but for some reason pharmacy stuff is not - such as deodorant, shampoo, bandaids, meds, etc. I'd recommend bringing any medicine and beauty items you think you'll need! :)

    Is the water in Costa Rica bad to drink

    • @Leapofaithlife
      @Leapofaithlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The water is safe from the tap in most parts of Costa Rica and tastes very good in my opinion. A few locations near the beach can be an issue for those with a sensitive stomach though, but they usually label this for tourists if there are issues. I never had any issue with the water and drank from the tap a lot. If you have a sensitive stomach, there's plenty of bottled water at the supermarkets.

    My boyfriend and I are going in the end of October and we were wondering if the waterfalls will still have their blue hue?

    • @Leapofaithlife
      @Leapofaithlife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you're referring to “Blue River” or Río Celeste since the waterfalls and rivers in Costa Rica come in all different colors from brown to blue to white. The Blue River specifically gets its color from the volcanic chemical reaction from Volcan Teneorio, so I don't believe season messes with this. I've heard the earthquakes can change this though - as one did in January of this year (2018), but the color comes back, as this happened with other earthquakes (2016, etc.). You're at the very end of rainy season in October (everything will be so pretty and green), and I've had friends go in December that enjoyed the color. Have so much fun!
