I'm going this year, and I really hope AX heard this video and all the other videos outlining crowd crush. It's a genuine, deadly concern with years and years worth of examples.
This looks like the first day before noon ! That's usually the reason for this big crowd cause you gotta check in, bbag checks etc I build the event, recommend anyone to go after noon
As someone who went to anime expo this year, I can say that it was so much more organized!! They already had directional lines set up and there was even a ticket cap. It was much safer and having a significant less amount of people on the 4th was nice.
I’m here at this year and so far day 1-2 have not been to bad getting in but I expect the weekend to be at its worst but I did underestimate the 1st and somewhat 2nd day.
I was there, being a child, in California heat, In a cosplay with LONG sleeves, for my first big con was the worst. Wasn’t much to do, too crowded to rest, and everyone yelling, sucked.
Last year was hell and an actual fight to get places, this year was honestly chill as hell and a breeze compared to last year. It was organized so much better.
Why would you take your child to ax. Not only is there too many people to where you can lose your child accidentally, it would probably smell really bad and there too much degenerative stuff over there that I wouldn’t want my kids to see.
@@goatedpulls9201 AX when it’s not a dangerous cluster F is actually just a mostly wholesome convention about anime. Majority of the anime it emphasizes are shonen, shojo and kodomo.
@@AlexHodgesYT I kinda beg to differ. I’ve been to ax a few times and I’ll see people cosplay characters with minimal clothing and granted they do cover up what they can but it’s still crazy. Im sure they try to keep it kid friendly since people are getting their kids into anime, but I’d be worried if I had the rowdy energetic kids that would run off somewhere and god forbid I look away for like a second and look back and my kids are gone because they run off. I’m not saying that’s your kid, I’d just be worried for parents that have those type of kids and they bring them to big conventions like ax.
@@goatedpulls9201 it DEFINITELY takes discernment when you’re outside exhibit hall! But we go to events as a family constantly and it’s always super fun for everyone
@@AlexHodgesYT To be fair I haven’t been to ax since 2018 so I’m sure a lot has changed since then. But those lines and the amount of people there is insane and they always have it in July which is just scorching hot. I feel like it wouldn’t be so bad if they might change the date to like a fall or winter time so if I have to deal with so many people at least the weather would be cooler.
Folks need to realize that there are better operated conventions that they can attend. Also, con life should NOT be valued on the same level as regular life.
I started going to anime expo every year in the early 2000's. And I stopped going in 2019. We had anime expo down to where we'd pick up badges early, arrive at a decent time, do both the sales floor, do some panels, and then hang out in the evenings all in one day, and be quite happy. And I moved away from LA in 2016, and still took the time, and finances to come, and would have been willing to keep going as long as it was feasible til 2019. We couldn't get in the building for hours. Nobody was managing the line. It was ridiculous. And we didn't make a single panel because it was overcrowded. We had to give up the annual ritual of anime expo, and I miss it. But I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to sit in the sun and not get to do anything, and be surrounded by pissed off anime fans. When I saw these videos last year, I thought the same thing. This is a disaster waiting to happen, and it would not be the first time in history. Fire marshals used to get so pissed if we were sitting out of designated areas in past conventions. Where are they now? But yeah, look up past disasters of overcrowded revenues and fire hazards, and black friday. I'm not risking mine or my loved ones lives for a convention that keeps refusing to rent out the whole convention center, and should have started years ago, and can't even get volunteers out to direct lines like they used to. Don't even get me started on the actual convention center staff.
There’s so many convention centers and stadiums they can spread it out through like Long Beach convention center for one. It doesn’t only have to be in one location
I felt crowd crush at a concert when people thought that post malone was getting on stage next hundreds of kids started to rush the front of the stage all.of.a sudden and people started to fight there way our of the crowd
🤔 in 2014 there was an event that treated AX to be closed down, because of an abandoned package (and no it wasn’t Friend with those black suitcases) it happened in the dining area, people were asked to walk away from this area. Thank God it was a forgotten package that someone forgot or lost. Safety is first, I recommend you not to bring kids during day one after the opening ceremony or they can be crushed by the multitude of fans. Do it when everyone is in and the crow has settled down.
Bringing strollers to a family marketed event isn’t the sacrilege you think it is. You ultimately end up walking 5-6 miles at the average con, it’s the summer so it’s really hot at AX so the shade your stroller provides is super useful. I get that it’s prob not relatable to 99% of you who aren’t parents, but in boomer world strollers are normal at places like Disneyland, the fair, or you know… a literal convention center.
Strollers are quite normal as such events and he's trying to point out the fact that the convention has a pretty big safety risk. For example: 2022, during a halloween parade in Seoul, over 150 people got trampled to death because there were far too many people participating in an unorganized manner. This could've been prevented if the parade was just neatly organized in sections or a line.
This is the shibuya incident all over again
And in my Philippines, this is ConQuest expo heatstroke disaster all over again

I agree with this guy. That is very dangerous and some people do have their children there so that is not cool.

I truly hope the staff this year knows what they are doing and this style human pileup 5 hours into the event is avoided

I almost regretted not going because of some of my favorite vtubers and VA attending.. but I have social anxiety- thus crowd would kill me

They should either limit badges or have other spaces people can go to when one fills up.
