A 'brisk' tempo in this fine performance of BWV 147 on the gorgeous Downes/Walker Organ: bravo, Ben. (You manage it in under three minutes; some TH-camrs take over four minutes! Tempo choice certainly influences the 'mood' presented by the music - if only we knew what Bach did with it!)
But probably the best part about this piece is the walking bass line I believe you have brought it out perfectly though, it's noticeable and it does in fact compliment the melody
Great rendition, but I think its better played at its original tempo because it allows the natural flow of the chords melody and bass line to coincide with each other and to solidify the harmony. Playing it too fast doesn't give it enough wiggle room to relish in the amazing harmonies and chord progressions Bach had constructed for this piece. Especially in the Trumpet solo as its supposed to be a rounded melody but the slower pace allows it to stand out and to speak freely from the harmony below it. As well as the moving bass line to compliment it.
Very beautiful played and I LOVED the registration! Thank you so much for this gift!
love your tempo.
Truly lovely start to my morning ❤
Obrigado Sr!!
so nice !
Very interesting, never realized this famous piece could sound so great if played much faster than one normally hears it.

Heard a few renditions of it being played quite hastily. I do prefer a slightly slower tempo! Gorgeous registration though!
Sorry, but too fast for me.
The speed is impressive, but doesn't suit this piece. It's not an Irish jig!
Far too fast, no feeling at all.
