- A cut-off upper low had been sat around the Bay of Biscay for a couple of days bringing rain and some thunderstorms to the south of England and Wales. On the evening and night of the 7th/8th the low was moving into the south of England. Colder air moving in on top of a warm, humid airmass that was in place was set to lead to thunderstorms breaking out in the southeast during the night and pushing northwards and westwards across London and surrounding counties.
I'm in Tottenham, North London and the thunderstorm woke me around 2.20am. I remember being out in the back garden just after midnight and thinking how humid it was and how still everything was and that it felt like there was a storm brewing. I wasn't wrong either.
I’m in Hatfield, I remember coming back home from my sisters late Saturday night and stopping off at the shops. Thought it felt a bit muggy and it kept trying to rain but never imagined we’d get this storm. I hadn’t been paying attention to the weather forecast. This bugger woke me up at 2.30 am. And apparently it had been rumbling away for about 20-30 minutes before that.
Pretty decent while it lasted. 👍
What a shithole 😂
I've sent this to my son,he loves a good storm, looks like from Friday into the weekend we have storm forecast 😮
Indeed. I may be out chasing again this weekend if the storms happen. Hope your son enjoys the video. If so, there's plenty more on here if he wants to look ⚡️⚡️
Yeah. London , extremely lucky to get such a show. Living in Abingdon doesn't get you much other than a few gems. I don't know what it is about the area encompassing Oxford to Didcot. But, when thunderstorms enter near here, they circle while giving a little rain and no lightning. Being a storm enthusiast i find it offensive . Great video man. Just gutted about some of the bolts that i may have missed. There were flashes here but I don't know about full bolts. I'd say a lot of the flashes over here were Intra-Cloud.
Thanks for watching 👍. Where I live is the same. If I didn't chase I'd hardly see any storms, certainly nothing of any significance.
We had two flashes in Northamptonshire also Warwickshire had the same early this morning 04:30 little rain rather disappointing but many others oney ! Luton Bedfordshire had them earlier and this afternoon Sunday just watching your video love watching them 🌩⛈️👍
Thank you. I love capturing them 🙂. I saw Bedfordshire got some decent storms today, especially this morning.
Live in Northampton and the thunder woke me up at 4.18am and the rain/wind was wild!
Missed it all as went away for the weekend ,all I heard was female tawny owls
May be another chance this weekend if you live in the Midlands or south.
Great video supacell love your videos went to gt Yarmouth just had torrential rain no lightning.
Thank you. It looked like Great Yarmouth would be a good spot too. Storms are so difficult to accurately predict.
@supacellstormchasing yes I agree if I would know the storms were going to around the m25 would of gone there but it's all a guessing game and luck.
I so love a good thunderstorm but where I am we don't seem to get many. Love your videos
Thank you 👍
We Had This In Watford As Well Was It Was Quite An Active Storm Very Loud And Was Very Windy To.
London seemed to be the epicentre of the storm activity. I was actually in Watford filming a storm during the early morning on May 2nd ⚡️
Did we? I didn't hear a thing in south oxhey
@@wafrikano Yes Around 3:00AM
WOW 😳,
Wow I love thunderstorm if it’s in the afternoon but we have not had any only heavy rain or drizzle in north Walsham keep up the good videos too ⛈⛈
Thank you. I will keep them coming if the weather allows it 🙂. Hopefully your storm will come.
STOP putting your lights on full beam !!!!!!
STOP trying to tell me how to drive!!!!!!
You're never get the best view from a car park with bright street lights !!!!!!!
Agreed. However after 20 minutes of driving round and looking for a place to park up I was left with little choice. It was either stop at the services or stay on the roads.
Yes it started around 2:10 am in the London area - began with rumbles of thunder increasing in amplitude, bright flashes of lightning and then the heavy rain fell. I'd say it was a moderate thunderstorm.
I'd agree on the moderate thunderstorm
@supacellstormchasing Cheers. I've seen worse but those are few & far between
Especially this year
