Thanks Matt. If you continued this with a video of that house actually drawn up, you would be the only person to do so, believe me… i’ve dug deep! Hundreds of floor plan vids but none of modelling from elevations. I purchased an earlier edition of your book which has been extremely helpful.
Glad you like my book. And thanks for the idea. This was a project I did for an architect and it was quite challenging because there were so many discrepancies. But I guess that could make for a more interesting video!
Personally I usually delete all tags to unassigned as most auto cad organisation is an untrustworthy mess.. and I always follow the KISS principle.. similarly I hate long and arbitrary tag names so use +L00, +L01, +L02 etc for floors (short and stack sequentially) in the tag list...(the "+" prefix allows floor levels to be isolated in the tag list from construction elements eg door, wall, slab, beam etc } used this format long before tag folders were introduced ... all is based on the AIA Cad Layering guidelines using 4 letter keywords

It would make for a great video… warts and all!
agreed, this was really helpful, please make a video showing the modeling process itself
@@tavlul6970 no wayyyy he doesnt have that video omggg, i wanted to watch that one real bad after this one :(
Yeah, was really hoping to see the extruding/creating of the 3d elevations from the 2d elevations. Even if it was on a different elevation.
Great Video by far more that what i have seen before, you make sketchUp look simple. Great Job!
Thank you
Thats awesome. Can you show how you would model it?
How come, when I import the CAD File, everything is just one huge entiy?
Hello, I have actually made a 3D model with AutoCAD 2025, any chance I can import it into Sketchup for landscape and additional modelling? Thanks!
