dunno if anyone gives a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf these days :)
Went pretty well. A little rough getting the bolt out on the intercooler. I didn’t realize the engine bay is so tight until I tried getting my meat hooks in there. She has an 09 and it’s almost exactly the same. Oh and I had to cut the lower hose because the clamp was on upside down. So instead of looking at it from above it was on the bottom and all but impossible to get off. No bi deal though. Thanks for the help brother!
Great video sir. I watched last night and went out and put it in today. Took about 2 hours from start to finish. Hardest part was that lower radiator hose. Thanks for making this. Very detailed.
Thanks a whoooole bunch! I just used this guide this morning to replace my rad and it took about 1hr 30min to finish. I looked under the hood earlier this week and it looked like more work than i felt like doing and i was about to give a mechanic $350 to do it for me. You saved me alot!!!
This is the absolute best radiator replacement for a Dodge Journey video I've ever seen. There's only one thing I could think of that would make it absolutely perfect, call out each and every fastener size as you're removing them. Awesome job though thank you so much 🇺🇸💪🏻👊🏻🤙🏼
Oh and immediately when I took the radiator out of the box and realized how delicate the radiator fins are because they're basically a little bit thicker than tinfoil they cut the box and put a piece of cardboard on the front and back of the radiator before I even started and kept it on until I got the radiator slipped down into place then I pulled the cardboard out from each side. Worked like a charm I can't imagine doing it without having that protection I definitely would've destroyed it
This was by far very informative for me as I recently got into and accident over the weekend and I know for a fact my radiator is done. I also need a new bumper as well, but that's a different story. I'm glad that I watch this from start to end. Wish you were in my state to fix my radiator haha. Good job sir.
Hello, Thanks for watching my video, Sorry to hear about your accident hopefully everyone was ok. The job is a little easier if the front bumper cover is removed and may be you can fix both problems at one time. Good luck!!
Thank you for your guidance. I'm in Sydney Australia and this weekend my father will be attempting this job on my dodge journey. You make it look easy 😁 lol
DEFINITELY ONE OF THE CLEANEST AND SMOOTH THIS VIDEO I'VE SEEN IN A WHILE ON TH-cam. STEP BY STEP SO THAT EVERYBODY UNDERSTANDS AND HE DID NOTHING THAT WAS A HACK JOB AND PUT EVERYTHING BACK FACTORY. GREAT JOB MY MAN, SUBSCRIBED AND LIKED TO YOUR VIDEO
Great video with lots of details. I tried to do the job myself but couldn't do it because the lines are rusted and the screw holding AC pipes broke when I was losing it. This issue with Dodge is significant, it rusts fast.
Thanks! Made the job much easier watching video. If you unclip the radiator with just the lower hose still attached you can slide it forward enough to visually see / access the lower hose clamp while lying underneath. Def agree it was the hardest part of the job..
Great vid thanks a lot! Amazing you got the lower hose clamp. I'm in middle of the job now but took ac condenser out. Hopefully can get that clamp from the front when i pull ot thru a little.
Sam Zurn yes it can be done w/ out removing the trans cooler but makes is a lot easier. Thank you for the comment and glad the video help you up. Please share and subscribe. Thx.
hey, thanks, this video did help clarify a few things i had in mind before taking on this project myself, you did explain it clearly and made it very easy to understand, good video production too.

Hello Fixers Automotive I have a 2009 Journey. Would I need to evacuate the AC system? In the video you mentioned 2008 and 2015. Thank you very much! I will be doing this job tomorrow
I have a 2014 dodge journey nothing but problem after problem I don’t want to get rid of it because I spent money on changing the engine and plus the body and the inside is big for a family car. Took it to a mechanic shop and they quoted $1400 to do this job. I have nothing to lose im going to show this video to my husband and I will help him and we will change it ourselves and hopefully it works 😂 it keeps overheating
This video was a great reference. However, I worked on a 2009 Journey STX V6 FWD. It was different. No transmission cooler what so ever. Just the condenser and the radiator. This actually made it fairly difficult. It's sort of difficult to explain without visuals but I will try. The hard lines that lead to the condenser are mounted to the radiator on the passenger side about halfway up. This mounting bracket is connected to the radiator with a 10mm bolt. The top of that bolt is flush with the bracket with just enough clearance around the hex top to get your socket onto the bolt top. However, you won't and I mean won't be able to get your socket wrench onto the socket because the plastic from the bumper assembly is blocking that. This next trick is a bit unorthodox, but I literally got a 1 inch hole saw to cut away at that plastic. This was enough to allow my socket and wrench to get into that tight spot, undo that bolt which freed the A/C lines from the radiator. The driver side of the radiator was much easier cause there were no hard lines so that bolt was facing towards the front of the vehicle. Once these mounting points were free, we (yes you will need another person to help) were able to pull the condenser away from the radiator, dismount that, and then carefully but forcefully pull the radiator up and out. But I do stress you will need another set of hands. One person to pull and hold the condenser and another person to reach in and pull the radiator. This is because the condenser was still connected to the A/C hard lines which had "some" give but barely enough. My forearms are still scratched up. Also, the replacement radiator did not just pop in very easily. Some points were just off by a millimeter, maybe less, but just enough that we really had to muscle that sob in there. So if you work on the same year and trim that I did, have your hole saw ready and have a friend nearby.
Eric Thomas sweet. Thank you your input and great advise for anyone doing this repair. I’m sure there are some differences in years and engine size but the whole story was to help people and show that it can be done w/ out recovering the Freon and removing the front bumper cover. That kid typically cost $800-900 dollars. Yikes!! Thx for watching the video, please subscribe and share.
Same exact procedure for both the 4 and 6 cyc? (should have waited until the end 'credits' LOL) Ours in the 2010 SXT decided to spring a leak. Pretty depressing as I did a full service (flush and refill) before putting it back on the road last year. Hopefully the NYS rust won't give it to much of a hard time. I've already ordered in the replacement radiator. I'm guessing no transmission cooling lines into the radiator on this one? That'll be a help!
@@fixersautomotive4514 Thanks! It should be interesting. I'm driving the wife's car (1988 Thunderbird Turbocoupe) until the part comes in. The Journey is still dripping coolant in the parking lot. I've put down a thick coating of speedy dry to keep the critters from lapping up the coolant. Landlord's being cool about it, he knows it can't be driven in the current state. So it's back to car ramps and I'll have to 'hide' my swear jar for the afternoon.
Excellent video. I've got a 2013 with a big dent in the bottom of the rad and condenser from previous owner. Your video will be a godsend for me with the read, but what do I need to do additionally to remove the condenser? Thanks in advance!
I have 2012 journey with 3.6. I'm have trouble with the cooling fan not coming at operating temp at cold start only when I hit the ac switch on and off, only then the fan will come on . With the ac on the fan will come on at a higher rpm, but not high enough to where under load it goes up to 240, and as low as 222 temp at idle. I have gone as far as flushing the system, changing cooling temp sender/sensor and cooling fan resistor because the other one had stress cracks and had pieces of ceramic missing. I have even changed relays all 3 relays on top for cooling fan. Funny thing is that when the fan is on, fan still stays running at low speed with all 3 relay missing. Is there any module or something that I have over looked? Why would the resistor burn up the way it did? As far as wiring goes, pigtails that i have looked at are okay.
Thanks for the vid my question is my wife has a 2010 rt with the 3.5 she doesn't have a transmission cooler but everything else looks similar does the ac condenser have coolant in it as well can't seem to find the leak but no leak at hoses its a drip leak want to change the rad but want to make sure no coolant goes through the condensor so I don't end up changing the wrong thing
camp man 86 thank you for your comment, the condenser has Freon for the a/c system. So if your a/c works don’t open the a/c lines because you will lose all of your Freon. It doesn’t have antifreeze/coolant, that’s a separate system. Hope that help and good luck w/ the fix.
@@fixersautomotive4514 thank you for your very quick response guess im changing the rad then it drips only when running looked to be around the bottom passenger side of the rad but can't find it it is bone dry at the upper rad hose ao must be the rad
Thanks for the much needed demonstration on how to replace the radiator and my question is the 2014 no different than the 2012 dodge journey you replaced the radiator on? Great and well instructed video, thanks again....
So I have the V6 model and my air is bipolar one minute it blows super cold on the high setting and then decides to blow super low on the high setting, is replacing that part something I should consider or a whole new condenser? Awesome and very informative video.
Thank you. Just got a used journey and this helped a ton. If you respond did you add any transmission fluid I may or may not have dumped the trans cooler on accident
Ushklav Dragonen the transmission fluid lost was so little maybe a 1/8 of a bottle. Just check the fluid level when your done and add transmission fluid as needed. The transmission doesn’t require a bleed just the radiator does.
Great how to video. This technique should cost waaaay less than the dealer.!!! Need right tools and a new radiator and some nice weather and you' re in like flint.
I was wondering how were you able to pour radiator fluid directly into the radiator? My 2012 v6 Journey doesn't have that just a reservoir tank. Thanks for the video bro 👍🏼
Steven Zamudio it’s the same procedure for the radiator replacement but the 4 cylinders have a traditional radiator cap and the V6 have a pressurized overflow bottle and the plastic radiator cap is there.
It will be the same for the 4 cylinder and V6 you will have to removed the lower splash shield. i used just normal hand tools, no special tools req'd. Maybe just a long needle nose pliers. Good luck.
Hello i have questions I am in Iraq and it’s soooo much hot in here Some people suggested that i replaces the radiator with a HIME radiator (for crisler 300) Because my 2015 Dodge Journey is now overheating all the time Can i do that ?
Dolfocar Ali if you already replaced the radiator and it still over heats there problem another issue. Check the thermostat, make sure the cooling fan turn on also make sure you don’t have a blown head gasket. The radiator for a 300 is not the same and won’t fit. I’m in Arizona and it can get to 119 here in the summer.
No until now I have not replace the radiator and i had a mechanic checking the car and he sad that i have a radiator with closed channels and i need to open and clean only but i am not really sure about it i am with the dodge journey owner clap in Iraq and i saw many friend with journey had to replace the radiator with the 300's after making some modification to the car body by the way my car run at 219F if i am going 60M/h and goes up to 235 if i push the speed to 80 or 90 M/h
Lucas Moreira a repair like this should be about $450-$650 at a typical shop, they shouldn’t have do anything w/ the A/C servicing. That should be the difference in price.
Sir your video was a great help. I watched it and followed your every move. Thank you everything worked and i appreciate what you did.

It will be the same for the 4 cylinder and V6 you will have to removed the lower splash shield. i used just normal hand tools, no special tools req'd. Maybe just a long needle nose pliers. Good luck.

I have a journey act how do I get to the oil pressure switch
Thaks for the video it really help
Hello i have questions
I am in Iraq and it’s soooo much hot in here
Some people suggested that i replaces the radiator with a HIME radiator (for crisler 300)
Because my 2015 Dodge Journey is now overheating all the time
Can i do that ?
Dolfocar Ali if you already replaced the radiator and it still over heats there problem another issue. Check the thermostat, make sure the cooling fan turn on also make sure you don’t have a blown head gasket. The radiator for a 300 is not the same and won’t fit. I’m in Arizona and it can get to 119 here in the summer.
No until now I have not replace the radiator and i had a mechanic checking the car and he sad that i have a radiator with closed channels and i need to open and clean only but i am not really sure about it
i am with the dodge journey owner clap in Iraq and i saw many friend with journey had to replace the radiator with the 300's after making some modification to the car body
by the way my car run at 219F if i am going 60M/h and goes up to 235 if i push the speed to 80 or 90 M/h
Great instructional video

que groso que sos man, un genio. Entonces no pierdo el gas del aire acondicionado con tu metodo? graciassss
I have the same problem. Never been to a mechanic before. Would you mind telling me how much a repair like this would cost?
Lucas Moreira a repair like this should be about $450-$650 at a typical shop, they shouldn’t have do anything w/ the A/C servicing. That should be the difference in price.
Thanks a lot
Great video ..Thank you.
Good job!
Normally the reason you have to take the bumper off, is because at the bottom right of the radiator, it actually has a drain plug..
Good job.
Buen video yo apenas reemplace un rayador igual de una Dodge Jurney pero yo solo quiite la parrilla y las mangueras
