This is a wonderful, tuneful piece by GL and his band.Especially appealing are the vocals!

I'm a bit late coming to the party here but I remember those lyrics too and I think it may have been Fiona Duncan singing with the Clyde Valley Stompers. On the other hand it's all a very long time ago.

The vocalist on this recording is "Doc" Souchon, as can be seen on the sleeve notes.

The discussion was about another recording heard by rhumbarber. It does exist on Pye 7NJ2031 and was labelled Ian Menzies. Lonnie Donegan presents Ian Menzies and His Clyde Valley Stompers -Vocal Fiona Duncan (posted by LumenMundi) th-cam.com/video/r88avH6YD48/w-d-xo.html

Definitely Fiona Duncan with the Clyde valley stompers. I have it on a reel to reel tape
and the first line goes "My name is Lizzie from NewOrleans and Iam the last of the
Red Hot Queens I'm a Salty Dog etc etc. Standrewsable 10.8.2010

Hallo MoleDFigg, What a great recording and the singer's name tallies with the lyrics but I'm convinced I've never heard that recording before. Perhaps we shall never know if Fiona Duncan recorded it with the Stompers but I can almost hear it now. Very forceful, almost brash vocal but as I remember very listenable and of its time.

I remember a female vocal of this number where she sings "My name's Lizzie from New Orleans and I sure do like my rice and beans, -I'm a salty dog" etc. I wonder if anyone can shed any light?

    Hi rhumbarber,
After my comment, below, I found a damaged tape in my archives and posted it to see if anyone had the complete recording.
Was this the one you had in mind? It's by Lizzie Miles, and on my channel.
