How sad - that is the old Pininfarina factory in Italy. To think that the once great Pininfarina had designed some of the most famous Ferrari's, Maserati's, Lancia's and Alfa Romeo's amongst other brands. The last cars coming off this line were the 939 Brera and Spider - both beautiful cars.....Grazie Mille Battista Pinifarina !
Amazing to see as humans we spend so much time and money on these places only to just completely abandoned them. Oh well, makes for great viewing from our Urbex crews.. Thankyou.
As a factory worker, i can tell you that it's kind of a must. Doing any precise work in bad lightning conditions will start to damage your vision pretty quickly. You could have perfect vision and you'll be needing glasses in a few months if the lights are bad.

@@ChaseB517 Precisely, that's why I brought that up. I think they were granted admission to the building. I don't think this particular visit was a sneak and peek type thing. Not all their vids are sneak in and sneak out. Because, although there are skylights in that big room, you can clearly see in many different shots that the overhead fluorescent lights ARE actually turned on. You can see them every so often. I think this "tour" was arranged.
The legs of the yellow chairs were made of aluminum, I think they are scrap dealers, who took them. Probably licensed by the property, I don't think if thieves had been there they would have left a lot more stuff, even the Makita battery chargers are worth a lot of money.
If a factory closes it's usually due to decline in production (or a new facility being opened elsewhere) At that point there isn't anything worth to repurpose and this stuff doesn't exactly have resale value. Dismantling it costs money so it's cheaper to just "let it be"
@tubagoo dom He says in the video it was shut down 10 years ago. Also scrappers have been there and he mentions that in the video as well. Abandoned places have electricity still on sometimes.
@@hvachacker586 I was replying to the other guy that said since the electricity is on that means they got permission. The electricity isn't always off in abandoned places. Also I agree it looked skylit and my original message said I didn't see any lights but I wasn't sure so I took that out. Either way, electricity shouldn't be a factor in determining whether they got permission to explore.

I used the Dalmec robotics in Burnley UK when we used to manufacture TV screens for Philips Glass. The Robotics are manufactured specifically for the job in question. I have to say I enjoyed this a lot!

I do agree, super long videos are not right with me, as I have an interest in quite a few content creators, but this had the potential for like twice the length.
the chair legs and the damage where ceilings were pulled down is for the metal scrap. this happens all too often. the robots wont be taken (other than copper wiring) because they are too heavy and awkward to manipulate out and sell as scrap
There's also too technical, some parts are still under stress/tension, so, without a proper tooling, it can explode at their faces, so too much risky for so few valuable stuff (as they know (the servomotors can easily reach 200 $/€ each)) Added to the risk of getting arrested by police, they definitely won't even try...
For the entire assembly hall part I was wondering why that place hasnt been completely looted by thieves - tools and machinery worth a pretty dime just standing there in pristine condition. Then we see legless chairs in the cantina... 🤦🏻♂️ By the way, I like this format very much. The only thing missing is live narration as you walk through.
its not easy to dismantle and not easy to sell. perhaps that is a reason. the six-axis arm, for example, is worthless without a proper functional control unit.
Peugeot makes some really great cars. One of my most favorite brands. Yeah it's sad that this place closed along with other ones. Usa isn't making anything much anymore. Should go back to the golden years where everyone was building what they wanted and working out the costs later
@@Expatriate1977 in this plant, only a few models were built to order for peugeot. 205 and 306 Convertible, 504 406 Coupe. But youre right, it was the better years. At the moment things are looking up again

I see the skylights but it really looks like the lights are on. At the 5:20 mark (and as you pointed what Arnold used in T2) the rim mounting machines look like U.S. Military 7.62 minigun barrels, lol.
Must be- the last cars they made in that plant were Alfa Breras and I see some assembly pictures in this video that look like those. Makes sense that the plant would look relatively modern too since it was only made back in the 80's, for cadillac initially. I wonder if they're still trying to sell it considering all the robots and infrastructure they left behind.

Great place! I think it's the first exploration video I seen where there were still robots and easy to pick apart heavy machinery. Funny how all the chair legs got swiped lol.
Holy fuck. All those robots are worth a fortune. I don't believe someone would go through the trouble of stealing chair legs and leave those robotic arms (the red ones). It would make no sense at all

Visit this factory few days ago, conditions are even worst than in your video. I'm wondering how is possible to waste all that technology. I count 4 vertical warehouse almost new in abandoned state. Not conceivable at all.

Had to look twice to ensure it really was just the sun and no electrical light. Just curioud, was it something you realised also while walking around? It's a windshield placing robotic arm, worth, at least, in this condition, around 10 000$ (even just for parts) Would be so happy to come on this kind of sites, properly remove it and reuse as well for training as for experimentations (like 3D printing building) There's should have a way to get it legally...

Fun fact they plan to convert this factory for ev production. But sadly they won't because coachbuilding by independent companies has no future. In this factory, my car was produced so yes thank you for the video. You should have walked around the test track though.
Someday there will be a lot of abandoned obsolete internal combustion engine vehicle factories like that because of the transition to electric propulsion. Legacy car companies that will fail to transition or fail to keep up with advanced technology electric vehicles, especially with Tesla will end up like that, abandoned and decaying.
Not sure why it’s now no longer in use. But I recently saw Alfa Romeo sales figures and they are pretty poor/atrocious so I guess this could be partly the reason. Shame as the Giulia and Stelvio are nice cars, just no one buys them
This factory was owned by Pininfarina who assembled the Alfa Romeo Brera and Spider under contract. Production of those models ended about 10 years ago and Alfa has its own plants in other parts of Italy, so it closed down.

The Brera was designed by Giugiaro. The Spider convertible was designed by Pininfarina (basically the roof and boot lid).

Also the plant was first opened to manufacture the bodies of the Cadillac Allanté, which were then shipped to the US for the final assembly

All the equipment is really dated. Also this production facility seems to have a lot of manual assembly in it, nowadays you need a lot more space.

As far as factories go this one seems nice ! Many factories are so dingy but this one takes advantage of the natural light.
I believe, just by looking at what is missing and what isn't, this was went over by a scrap company looking for the light easily grabbed stuff.

Great location, can almost see the cars go trough the assembly line. Already started to thinks where the bodyshop was, that was the part on the end.
