After I retired from the tech industry, I managed an extreme sport clothing line for a friend. This factory brings back memories. A few tens of cents in costs moves clothing manufacturing from one country to the next. Used sewing machines are next to worthless because of oversupply as the local companies collapse. The buildings are usually light duty/load, non-air conditioned, and have very basic insides. Only the wiring is upgraded.
3:40 - that sewing machine is called a serger which finishes an edge to keep the material from fraying. It uses 3 or more lines of thread. 6:19 - is a Kuris fabric cutting machine. 15:02 - that chute is where the cut edge of the fabric would exit the serger as it was finishing the edge.
Was a, textile engineer from 75 to 2005 when everything eventually moved offshore. Remember all that machinery, the names, working on them. Had a lot of fun times. 3 engineers to 300 girls. They could terrify young lads thrown amongst them. They could tell shy lads and torment them rotten. Remember a, friend who thought he was jack the lad being jumped on and stripped naked by them. 😂
Worked as an engineer in proper sweat shops over the years hated it then it all moved to Romania and North Africa etc and really missed the fun of the job racing from job to job didn’t realise until it was gone
I grew up in playing and exploring massive derelict cotton Mills back in the very early 80's at Ancoats in Manchester some 9 and ten stories in high with much equipment just left inside with virtually thousands of spinning machinery just left Bob including the boiler houses and big engines that powered them , but it was a different world back then , when a huge factory or foundry closed in the UK it was just left to the elements .
love your videos man keep it up, Watching your Fukushima series over the years made me and my partner venture out ourselves. We managed a few of the locations you had explored and you wouldn't believe the state of some of the places now. Hope your well and keep safe.
Just a little info for the people who don't know what they see there: @ 4:50 you see the Bullmer spreading machine. It puts precisely multiple layers of fabric from a big spool on top of each other. Then this pile goes into the Kuris cutter @ 6:20. So it will cut for example 50 pcs. at once. Then they transfer it to the ladys in the sewing room. It's all german made machinery, including the Dürkopp sewing machines that were produced in Bielefeld, around 20 km from where I live. :D
At @6:15 yes call within the building, or ring to the switchboard operator... they probably had a rotary dial to dial outside numbers. This was an excellent explore! Thank you. 👍
Great explore ! That factory is a real time capsule. I wonder if there was a plan to reopen the factory at some stage, but then it never happened. That's why all the machines weren't sold.
If you like urban exploring videos (like I do) this has to be the best URBEX channel, bar none. Fantastic explorations, really great video and the nicest bunch of people you could hope for. Thank you Bob and "Exploring the Unbeaten Path" for all your great work!

YKK: Those letters stand for "Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha" which, from Japanese, roughly translates to "Yoshida Company Limited." Seriously!! I love these explores, but most urbexers tend to ignore the tech and infrastructure stuff I want to see. Proper Person: "Nothing in there, just pipes and valves and stuff." Me: "ARRRGH!" I mean, we found the computer room, let's look at the computer stuff! Anyhoo... I can't identify the printer, but at 2:48 the computer (box near center with horizontal slots) looks like an HP 3000 922LX. The box to the right of it is likely a disk pack or 9 track data storage unit, but who knows...
I would think single. If all running. You could hear a thinking. And the heat from the motor running. It would be hot there. Single or new girl friend. You leave your self open to questions. God bless mick Australia 🇦🇺
8:48 "looks like some cheap Chinese clothes, doesn't look like decent quality." I'm going to guess that this factory closed because production of cheap clothes left Greece for China or other places with even lower labor costs. Maybe the owner had intended to do something with the factory for better quality products but simply never saw those plans to fruition, hence why the factory wasn't dismantled when it closed.
not really anything particularly to do with your video, but I was reminded of something. I once met a gal at a dance who was wearing a shirt with an outline of the Hellenic Peninsula on it. I looked at her and said, "you know, you've got Greece on your shirt." She started looking around on the fabric for a grease spot saying, "Where?" to which her friends started laughing. A couple of weeks later she came back to another dance an this time had Olivia Newton John and John Travolta on her shirt. Again without missing a beat I said, "you know, you've got Grease on your shirt." She just frowned as her friends again burst out laughing.

It’s beautiful how it’s untouched.
Another great exploration! Time stood still in this building.

Nice explore. Weird how it remained like that for 40 years.
Amazing video in an amazingly preserved location. That spider shot @14:14 is also mind blowing.
