Eeeenk, wrooong. The DPF is about as restrictive as a catalytic converter on a car exhaust. The only thing he's doing is making the truck throw more contaminants into the atmosphere. If he'd repair the emissions system correctly, he wouldn't need to "delete" it.

If there is way of cheating the actual pressure sensor into thinking there is the necessary back pressure, then the code will be gone. Also when the computer clock and miles reach the replacement point you have no choice but to plug into a computer and reset it. Not sure how many times you can reset with the same DPF code though. Eventually you might have to replace the filter, or just using another filter's code, for the same model engine! I don't think the computer is connected to a central network, and its only independent for that truck, so you can probably use as many different DPF codes as you want, problem is if the code is registered in the DOT system, to another truck, then you might get in a very, very hot exhaust...LOL. Best thing to do is reset it until no more available entries, then bite the bullet and buy a new DPF.

What a F'ing mess, Big Tuner Shop, stripped the motor of everything except the VG Turbo. When I removed the turbo, chunks of soot and carbon came pouring out, I have no idea how it held together, it is being replaced, along with a new actuator.
The DPF/DOC cans only had a few holes drilled in them, instead of being hollowed out, that is what destroyed the turbo. Just like our friend did here in the video.
They removed the EGR Cooler and did not install a coolant bypass kit to cool the #5 and #6 cylinders. So, need a bypass kit...
I believe I caught this in time before any more serious engine damage occured.
Then they replaced the factory water pump with a unit off of a CM-570, so I need a new water pump and housing too. Then all of the RTV (Mr Gasket) that they used on that pump. Now I have to strip down the cooling system in search of RTV boogers.
Then the high heat issues, going to have to change out the oil cooler, oil and coolant thermostats, and God knows what else. Right now I am $8000 deep into this mess, when all said and done, I think with parts, and my labor, $15,000 easily.
If only the previous owner would have simply completed an EGR Tuneup and replaced the DOC and DPF filters, none of this would have happened. There was no need to strip this motor of thousands of dollars in parts, destroy the turbo, and all of the other issues it is now facing. And I have not even gotten into the programming yet.

Back pressure and VG turbos do not play. The tables in the ECM are in need of adjustment, back pressure is old school. Then the fuel trim levels at the injectors, along with the timing, there is a lot that needs to be done to properly, and safely, to delete a Cummins motor. There are over 100,000 parameters, and then you have the files for each specific truck make and model. Most of these so called tuners use one file, say a Volvo file, and just upload it to the ECM, totally neglecting the manufacturers CPL (Critical Parts List). This is what your ECM uses to operate all of the systems on your particular truck, the sensors, air volume, fueling, etc. It is not as simple as gutting a can or two.
