When I saw that the movie Dragonslayer was in pre-order, I buyed it immediately. This movie is still so good, even with the old special effects.

As an avid 80's action/fantasy film lover... can't believe I missed out on this. Just picked up the 4K and I'm absolutely blown away.

This film has had such a tremendous influence on my imagination. I adore it. Saw it in the theater when it was originally released. I regularly rewatch it. My favorite film dragon!

I would imagine Matthew Robbins to be quite a demanding director judging by the quality of his film DRAGON SLAYER (and a good title at that) it did take leaves out of the STAR WARS book, and in some ways, ALIEN but it worked like a charm
And rightly so, particularly the great Dragon fx that could have been shot today, here we have just about everything in a fantasy gothic film- a good intelligent story, reasonable actors, believable locations, it's only competition being CLASH OF THE TITANS at that time

And 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. It and 'Clash' opened the same day.

Before cgi, when movie making puts emphasis on story telling, and the effects sill holds up, scarier than most computer-generated, Vermithrax coolest name in cinematic dragon history

I have a question: What was Ulrich saying as Vermithrax tried to burn him? I think it was "hoc me egnitis morta ortum." Which roughly translates to "I have risen from the dead with fire." I am not certain though, does anyone know?

The new 4K is awesome with one exception -- they DNR'd the hell out of the climax of the film that contains all of those optical shots. Truly distracting. I know 4K has a habit of making those old optical composite shots look worse than ever (especially since it's coming from the original negative most times) but they really went overboard on this one.

Yeah, I really don't categorize THIS movie as a "FANTASY FILM" along with the juvenile likes of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Dragon Heart. I think it's more of a HORROR movie, albeit with a medieval setting, where the dragon is a real MONSTER.
