    Ty for this video on soft and cool, olive skin tone. I am pale, soft cool olive and it is such a difficult skin tone to type. This has helped me enormously.

      Ugh I know. Probably the toughest skin tone there is, it has been a lifelong road to get to understand my colors.

    Hi Merriam! I would love to see your thoughts on a body and color typing of Kate Middleton!

    My guess is, she looks warm and delicate in that one picture because she was wearing a blue black coat, which is too cool for her. That brings out the slight warmth of her skin.

    Such a pretty lady, great analysis. Very interesting comments on greys for cool/delicate. How would you classify colors that have been greyed, adding grey is one way of softening colors. I believe in the seasonal approach greyed colors are 'summer', mimicking the effect of the sun greying or washing out colors. Adding brown would be another way of softening colors, and adding white yet another way.

      Muted or desaturated maybe? I am a dark autumn- winter and I am somewhat muted / desaturated. I suit makeup that is greyer or browner than anticipated for cheeks etc :) I hope this is a useful response ? Lol

      Adding white lightens and brightens colors. They don’t make them soft AT ALL.

      @@emmamartin4045 Thanks for commenting. I was wondering if I was wrong all along, about white's brightening and lightening effect.

    Thanks. Light spring is too light, bright spring too bright and true spring too warm, the autumn's too muted grey. Now I know I'm warm delicate. It's really useful seeing analysis of someone with more than one essence and lines. I also have natural, classic and soft elements but don't suit asymmetry, draping or ruffles so my balance is different to your model.

    I feel like I'm a similar color to her but think I'm warm. Being pale olive is so difficult to understand! Could we have another video on pale olive skintones (to show a lot of different people from pinterest - pale olive cool vs warm)?

    Does anyone have tips for jewelleries for this kind of coloration? I'm cool toned, but I have the same problem with clear Grey and also with silver jewelry. It's sometimes to harsh for me. I would love to get some ideas.

      Hi! Little late but I think antic silver would be better than shiny light silver. I'm soft summer and jewellery made of this really pure silver look to stark on me, to shiny and steal all attention. So I try to buy silver that is darker, has a texture. And if I buy a necklace for example, I try not to choose one with really shiny, fair stones. I prefer for myself moonstone or labradorit.

    If I'm warm and delicate but look alright in taupe, does that mean I'm closer to neutral too? I have a colleague who is also an autumn but taupe is one of her worst colors.

    • @haleypowell9060
      @haleypowell9060 ปีที่แล้ว

      soft autumns (warm and delicate) are right next to soft summers (cool and delicate) on the seasonal wheel. so they can share some colors and are both somewhat close to being neutral. true autumn and deep autumn can't take that gray/taupe cast well bc they're much more saturated. soft summers and soft autumns usually look great in muted colors w some gray or taupe in them but i believe they're the only types that do.

  • @amy259
    @amy259 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very helpful. I'm cool/muted and wondered why taupe looked good since brown is a warm color? And that pure silver doesn't look great.

    • @di3486
      @di3486 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Taupe is cool toned, it takes the warmth from brown. Silver is not great for olive toned people.

    Can you be a soft dramatic if you are only 5 ft

      YES

    • @sapnanayak1453
      @sapnanayak1453 ปีที่แล้ว

      No you cannot. Anything above the Classic types cannot be short. You could be a gamine, or romantic type.

    • @An-kw3ec
      @An-kw3ec ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Based on what I've heard online, your proportions can come across as dramatic in photography or on video, but the effect dissappear in person once you realize of the real size of the person, the opposite is true, you might give the impression of having short lines, but if in real life you're tall, your real lines come out.

    • @char392
      @char392 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps you're a Soft Gamine? I came to that conclusion as they are short and have some sharpness and softness. At 5ft, you're likely to be either a Gamine or Romantic type, but if you're guess is Soft Dramatic then a Gamine type would be more likely.

    • @haleypowell9060
      @haleypowell9060 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes. vertical line is determined on the proportion of your head to your body and how tall you appear to be. it's possible to be a dramatic at any height, however it's highly unlikely at 5'. your head would have to be truly tiny.

      Probably not. Merriam doesn't type off height, but off vertical line or how tall someone *looks*
