My daughter has been waiting all year for the leaves to fall and to be able to play in them, since it is the first year she is old enough to fully understand that it is fun, not just work, lol. She loved watching your littles play. She still has to wait for her leaf pile because we got SNOW! What's with that weird weather! And with the leaves still on the trees.
Love how the children are playing in the leaves, it brings back memories of my childhood. Your children are so blessed to be raised the way you guys are raising them. What a wonderful childhood!
Glad to see Dolly is home. Hope she is pregnant. What a wonderful leaf pile you have there. So happy for y'all. It is a beautiful fall day there. Bri, you look like you're feeling better...I pray the rest of your time goes well. Have a Blessed day.
I'n so glad your using those leaves. They are a blessing and will feed the worms in your soil over winter and increase the good organisms too. They belong back in the soil as God intended. So happy to see Dolly back home. Blessings.
She does definitely look bred to me. I absolutely love y'all! You are one of the sweetest most wholesome families ever- I look forward to your videos b/c it reaffirms in me that like my his and myself there are indeed others that are striving for a wholesome sweet life with our children teaching them integrity, Godly values and respect for the land and all the beautiful gifts the Lord allows us to be caretakers of! My hat is off to you both! ♥️
Happy to see the whole family is well and healthy. Enjoyed that moment when everybody was playing in the leaves... even the smallest let his Dad throw him in the heap. That was so much fun... Hope Dolly doesn't let you down. We're all sittin 'n waitin :)
Know the feeling about Dolly, my Daisy took three tries but I think she caught this time. Good to see you all enjoying autumn and watching the children grow. Have a wonderful week and looking for next week's vlog.
Mmmm those biscuits look delicious Bri! My favorite when weather gets cold. While you were serving, looked like the kids couldn't wait to dig in. ;) Welcome home Dolly! Beautiful Fall family day, and it wouldn't be Fall if kids didn't jump in or get tossed into a leaf pile. :) :) Thank you all for sharing your lives with us, Love, Health and Peace to you all.
I had a young cow but that time I did not have much experience, she was so thin, nearly lost one of its dimensions and was about to turn into a picture, she was not weak, on the contrary, she was so vital. when she came into heat, I took her to the bull, when he was mounting her, she was folding like if you are folding a towel, I had to sell it because some animals are not meant to breed. What I think about Dolly The Great, it is not the same case. I would keep her even if she will not breed, and I will not stop trying. All the best for u guys.
Usually if a cow is pregnant they sometimes fill up between the hip and rib but older cows and goats don't always show there. I have an older goat who can have two or three and won't show. Its a great guessing game sometimes.
hi good morning beautiful family hi good morning kids glad to see Miss Dolly and the does look pregnant. you guys keep having fun as a family till the next Video God bless beautiful family bye 🐓🐓🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐔🐕🐕👫👬💙💙💕💕🐈🐈🐮🐄👍👍👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘.
I tun my 22hp lawn tractor over all the leaves to smash them up then I hook up my white lawn sweeper, by the way they are great, the tread has wore of the 2 drive wheels 2 times now in 27 years an every time I call white for parts they ship them out no charge, then I put them in the garden an lightly till them under 3 to 4 Inch so by spring its all broke down, from freezing an wet
Awwwe what a sweet video! I got the urine preg tests too! They can be used for goats. So I did the tests 3 times. Got my results, then decided to draw blood and send it in. All the urine tests that said Open were actually pregnant and all the ones that said pregnant were open haha good luck keep us posted
Whimsical WonderFarm Agggghhhhh!!!! So frustrating. Well, we will see how it all plays out. Obviously, at some point will have to call the vet out. But for now, since dolly seems perfectly healthy, we're just going on the ride with her.
Hey Bri and Art, You should put the leaves into the chicken runs also. They will help decompose and add their poop to the mix for great decomposition and fertilizer for future beds. Just a thought, cause I rake leaves in the their pens and free range them too. Love your videos..:-)
I am so glad to see Miss Dolly back home. If she lived at my farm I would follow her around with a bucket waiting for her to pee. My husband would the man behind me rolling his eyes and shaking his head and laughing. God bless that cow!
Just wanted to say that I️ was able to follow the whole Dolly story :) I️ hope she calves within the next month, so you can set up a routine before your own new baby arrives. We have had our own share of first Dairy cow issues and am really hoping Dolly calves soon for y’all. P.S. I️ would love some of those leaves :)
This (the is she/isn't she with Dolly) is interesting for me. I don't know much about cows, but we want a mini zebu or maybe a zebu/Jersey cross when we finally get going. I don't wish the struggle on you, but it's good for me to see that having a cow isn't all cream and butter and happy calves! I wish we had that many leaves. I have make do with my pear tree and little mulberry bushes for our sandpit of a yard. By the time we move maybe it'll turn into something that could support life...
Clever Kim's Curios We could've easily solved all this guessing by just doing a blood test. But we really thought having her palpated was enough to tell if she was bred or not. In the future, we will avoid all this guessing by just giving our animals pregnancy test. For us, it has been kind of funny to be on a bit of a bumpy ride with her. The frustrating at times, we have learned a lot.
Oh Dolly haven’t we been down this road before? I love her winter coat. I see Chewey is still there. The leaf pile reminds me of my children. That will make great mulch for the garden lucky you. Nice video today, I hope you are feeling better soon BRI. Your babies are all so pretty. Thanks for sharing.
i been saying... the sellers said "we AI'd her and then she was with the bull four months" you said she was due in Aug... i think that was from the AI but threre's four months leeway for the pasture breeding.. My guess was December.....
The warm water trick to get a child to pee can work. I have caught pees with a warm wet wash rag wiped on the cows vulva area. Have a bucket ready and stay out of shot. I have never heard of urine tests for pregnancy testing a cow though. 😄
Mare's Okey-Dokey Homestead P test is the name of the test. 10 tests for 25 dollars. We are still a bit skeptical at the accuracy of the tests, since no one we know has ever heard of this test.
Thank you so much for the information, I am going to order one. It is easier for me with that then the blood one. We have a Sara-lu like your Dolly. She is 11 years old . This will be her 6th calf if she pass the test LOL We have her A.I. I have shown her on some of my video's. If you want to see her and my funny farm. Have a great day!
Dear, I just watched your video about being up on the Blue Ridge Parkway and your child almost stepping on a snake. That's is a video that you might want to take down, because if I'm not mistaken there are rules and regulations about picking any kind of plants on the Blue Ridge Parkway , or on any national park lands. Beautiful video I enjoyed it very much ,but please check concerning regulations.
That big egg maybe a double yolk egg. Usually one gets them from the new baby hens. I love double yolked eggs and consider them special. Once the hens get laying they go away. Enjoy the abundance of the young hens. Piles of leaves are so much fun to play in and so enrich your garden! Just draw blood and get poor Dolly pregnancy tested. Then all the drama will be over. I blood pregnancy my goats through Biopyrn out of Florida. BioBYRN is the pregnancy testing and cheap. For cattle $2.50! For goats, more expensive and have a $10 set up fee if under 4 goats and $6.50/test! When I get my CAE and Johnes blood draws I put in for pregnancy testing on certain does. Not all, just the ones I have reservations on and want to make sure they are pregnant. The young does get pregnant easy. The old Champions, sometimes not so.www.centralfloridalargeanimal.com/ This is the lab I use for my goat pregnancy testing. They are quick and email results. They do cattle more then goats. A resource to keep in mind. There is a mobil Vet in your area of NC, but no web site but can check out locations by going to Biopryn and looking up your area.
Dolly has been with you how long? 6 months? Cow gestation is roughly 283 days -- so i guess it is possible if she was in a field with a bull prior to coming to you. Have you asked the previous owners?
OK, I am confused. Who said she was open? Where I come from -- we had Galloways -- open means NOT pregnant. You were given this cow believing she was pregnant but either she aborted early and the fetus was absorbed -- or she was never pregnant that time. Now 5 months later, you send her out to be covered by a bull -- she returns to you and those people say they believe she is pregnant and due at any time because she never came into heat, they did not see the bull mount her, and she has a big belly. Yet someone preg checked her via rectal palpation -- and said she was open. When??? It is very possible people are using terms they do not actually understand! Urine pregnancy tests on cows can give false negatives. Also remember Petara's cow did not deliver when expected and they called the Vet who found the cow was very ill. I recommend you contact Patara and then the Vet -- bite the bullet and pay for the cost of an ultra sound. Your husband is an RN -- RN's make good money (I should know -- I am a retired Director of Nurses). If you cull this animal and then find out during the butchering that she is pregnant -- you will be kicking yourselves for years! If she is not pregnant -- the Vet might determine that she is ill with something that is fixable. When one of our cows aborted -- we gave them 2 yrs to get back on their feet before we set them in the pasture with the bull. We also had them checked out by the Vet to insure there were no complications -- infections -- from the abortion. Now -- we had no problems maintaining a cow for 2 yrs because we raised our own hay and in close to 20 yrs never had to supplement from expensive outside sources. You are learning -- as we did. You cannot become an expert in the blink of an eye. Also realize -- in this day and age -- being a farmer on a small plot of land -- under 50 acres -- is difficult and expensive. My Dad always worked a well paying outside job -- as did my Mom (RN Nurse Midwife) due to the mortgage on our farm. Heck -- my Uncle was gifted his ranch in Wyoming by his father-in-law and still had to work part time to make ends meet! You are luckier than most of these young farmers on You Tube because you have an infrastructure already in place (your barns). I get very frustrated when these young farmers buy animals without proper shelter for them and think pallet and straw and tarps will do the trick. And then complain about the cost of a Vet -- yet buy this and that expensive camera to make a killing on You Tube grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Be smart -- spend money where it needs to be spent -- and learn.
sellers said she was AI'd then with bull four months- im sure the expected due date in AUG was from the AI. She was preg checked in Aug. I was saying if she still had 4-5 months left - preg check may have missed tiny baby and she could still be due in DEC -
It's a confusing story. When they say open they definitely mean not pregnant. The long and short of it is this. She came to us supposed to of been pregnant through artificial insemination. She never calved. Before she came to us but after she had AI. She was in a pasture with a bull for four months. After she never calved we had her palpated. We were told she was open. We sent her off to be bred. She never came into heat. The people whose farm she was at really believe she is pregnant and due to calf in about about A month. Seeing as that Dolly is acting perfectly healthy we will not be calling a vet. If she doesn't calf by February, then we will call the vet to find out what is going on with her.
Uncertainties like this is why vets always ask very carefully if you want to use a hormone shot to bring your girls into heat for breeding out of cycle. Many a owner found out the open girl they thought to bring into heat for rebreeding slips a dead baby from the hormones. There by losing the breeding they thought they had not secured in the first place.
Had a mare at the studs to be brought into heat for breeding.... the vet said you SURE shes not pregnant.. ( i have no stallions anywhere around) then said you would not believe the number of people that happens to. give shot and then theres a dead baby in the stall....

What a beautiful family
If you put some safety orange colored tape on the handle of your tools, you will be able to spot them easier. Or you could paint them.
Miss dolly is so secretive. Looks like she'll keep you guessing until the last. Lol.
No childhood is complete without a good leaf-throwing-into ;)
My fingers are crossed for her.
Awwwe what a sweet video!

I am so glad to see Miss Dolly back home. If she lived at my farm I would follow her around with a bucket waiting for her to pee. My husband would the man behind me rolling his eyes and shaking his head and laughing. God bless that cow!
Angela Burns That is exactly what I did! They say you can rub the vulvabut I decided to just be patient.
looks like Dolly really is pregnant..... 😍😍😍😍

Most confusing cow saga ever! C'mon Dolly, we're all rooting for you! Baby! Baby! Baby!

Bri you look great! Must be that "glow" :)

dolly is back!!!
God bless to your family!! Big hugs and kisses from Phillippines with Love!!
Congratulations with Dolly! Make sure when she has her calf to check for signs of Milk Fever as Jerseys are really susceptible to it. Good Luck. :)
Oh man, jumping in a pile of leaves, now that is a good memory!
I missed, Dolly! I do hope she's pregnant. That'd would be awesome for you.
Love your videos. Blessings
This (the is she/isn't she with Dolly) is interesting for me. I don't know much about cows, but we want a mini zebu or maybe a zebu/Jersey cross when we finally get going. We love the winter coat.
Hi Bri did you jump in to the 🍁 with the eggs 🥚 in your pocket? lol
Art , you are going to have to build a big farm house kitchen table.
mini duck If only we had a big farmhouse kitchen. We hardly fit in the kitchen we have now. Ha ha!
Great video.
Dolly's home!!
I love Dolly.
i been saying... the sellers said "we AI'd her and then she was with the bull four months" you said she was due in Aug... i think that was from the AI but threre's four months leeway for the pasture breeding.. My guess was December.....
Yum fresh biscuits !!!
I have an orange tabby cat named Punkin. I wanted to name him Pumpkin but my mom over ruled me.
**PARABÉNS PELO DIA INTERNACIONAL DA MULHER GOOD NIGHT**
The old baby toss!
Miss Dolly is going to be a Mommy. The way she looks I say about 3 weeks.
The warm water trick to get a child to pee can work. I have caught pees with a warm wet wash rag wiped on the cows vulva area. Have a bucket ready and stay out of shot. I have never heard of urine tests for pregnancy testing a cow though. 😄
We actually got her to pee yesterday! Will try to edit that tonight.
Hi from KSA

Omg! Bri be careful. U r jumping on those leaves 😱.
You never showed the silkies and the Kai baby chick 😢
