Woah, I just hit 4k subs, amazing! Especially for such niche content. I think I'll do a Q&A in celebration. If you have any arranging, music theory or Gil Evans questions. Just comment them below!
Fascinating video. Three bass clarinets?? These odd instrument combos are fantastic. You've done a great job distilling the lessons and rules for this kind of writing. It sticks with me and empowers me to try it myself. Well done, more please!!
Awesome video Alex. I remember you teaching me all this when I was writing my final college assignment last year. It was really precious advice, which I still use.
Gil Evans drives me crazy, I follow all your videos with concern, Thank you very much for sharing such valuable work. Greetings from Spain with all me admiration and respect
Thanks Mike. Yes the big band one was quite popular. I might have to do more on the subject. Please join in on the arranging of 'Easy Living'. Check out my community page if you haven't seen it.
Thank you for sharing your work, it is very helpful. I have a question at minute 3.36, the chord number is Bbm7, how do you reach that conclusion if the Bone bass plays Eb and the 3rd Tp plays D natural?
Good spotting Gabriel! The D natural should be a Db 😀. And the Bbm7 marking is mostly for the bass player. The chord should be Eb9sus. I'm happy to help.
