Toronto: Cops pit maneuver caught on video at downtown intersection 8-3-2022

  • Spur of the moment catch at the corner of Lower Jarvis Street and Queens Quay East yesterday Saturday September 3rd 2022 when a police SUV from the Toronto Police Services is seen doing a pit maneuver on another SUV in an attempt to stop the driver. Following the impact, other TPS squad cars were seen and heard rushing in for backup with lights and sirens from all directions. One officer was spotted pulling a taser and drawing it towards the suspect driver but it is unclear how this person was at fault in the first place. A perimeter was established around the scene in the following moments and kept safe by stretching a crime tape line around the site at the busy street corner. Fortunately, the threat was neutralized and no one was injured in the altercation. Prior to this pursuit ending, we learned that the suspect driver had struck a cyclist moments before at another nearby location at the corner of Yonge and St-Clair who is listed in critical condition in hospital. The hit and run suspect fled the scene and was apprehended and arrested thanks to the quick action of TPS officers.

Heard a loud crunch and thought someone hit a pylon on Jarvis, but looked out from my balcony just to see a black vehicle whiz past, a black bike with a rack on the back hit the ground, followed by the cyclist a second after. He screamed and held his head and several pedestrians and drivers nearby stopped and helped him. Ambulance arrived after about 10 minutes of this guy screaming, it was awful. Police blocked off Jarvis both ways for an investigation for the next few hours.

    Hit and run. Two separate incidents. Cyclist and pedestrian. Thirty-one-year-old Bachu Matthew from Kitchener faces several charges. Wow.. Here in the u.s once the cops pit maneuver you they're immediately out of their cars with their guns out and focused on the suspect. The guy is usually on the ground with his hands behind his head with 20 seconds. In this video the cops seemed very disorganized, scrambling about without knowing what to do next. Doesn't seem very safe for themselves or the public nearby.

    • @MikeyJoJo6385
      @MikeyJoJo6385 2 ปีที่แล้ว +77

      Or they determined the driver was not a public safety threat. Canada doesn't deal with such a massive gun problem like the US. Cops are way less likely to deal with someone who has a gun on them. Also, there was another officer on the right side of the police car that you cannot see

    • @billbun6077
      @billbun6077 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Well for starters the police officer is a woman, so that already takes away from her capability. Not to mention she seems like she wasn’t in a rush to do anything. Meanwhile her colleagues came flying in. This really should go to the oversight board for review the city of Toronto deserves better

    • @leanercleaner698
      @leanercleaner698 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      So a bunch of cops with their guns out at a busy intersection is safer for the public? It could have just been a fail to stop with no firearms involved. If you noticed the female officers partner was on the passenger side likely with a clear view of the driver. Not to mention after the PIT the bad guy/gal wasn't trying to get away.

    Perfect example of why a woman should not be a police officer, her partner ran right in and addressed the subject and any threat, meanwhile she goes back to the car, then pussyfoots it up to the car. Her partner could have been killed. You don’t have to be an expert to ascertain that

  • @Gryphyn3

    That wasn't the pit maneuver. The Pit M, is done from directly behind, and the cop car hits the back bumper on either the right corner or left. This causes the car to lose control. What this cop did was try to T bone the car, but hit the back end instead because of the timing.
