Following on from my comment of a fortnight ago, I cut my wife's fringe using your excellent instructions and I'm still alive. That basically tells you everything, since she takes this sort of thing quite seriously.

Thank you for being the most rational, sane and reasonable hair artist out here! I couldn't bear to watch so many of these as they were done with bad instruction, bad lighting and too much drama. Thank you! Stay safe.

Agree totally! At last a normal hairdresser who only talks sensibly - no expletives-deleted 😲 a person you can actually trust to tell you what to actually DO, no fuss no overkill 😁😇

Hi I'm nearly 40 and have never cut my own hair before tonight. Two weeks ago I got curtain bangs. My first fringe in 30 ish years. It was already getting in my eyes so I used your pinch method and successfully trimmed it just enough. You gave me the confidence to try to managed my fringe myself between hairdresser appointments. Thank you so much.

Thanks Charleen. Like others, I watched other videos which did more to confuse me than to help. I just finished cutting my wife's fringe (locked down in Australia) following your instructions and she's more than happy. I might go into business! ;-) Thanks again! Mark (Yes, fellas, even a man can do it!) LOL

I’ve had bangs all my life (I’m 50) so I’m more than comfortable with cutting my own bangs..but I didn’t know about that trick with pulling them to a point so the outside edges are a little bit longer...thanks because that’s the way I like them 👍🏻.

I can finally see! I viewed several videos on how to trim your bangs & yours is by far the best & easiest to follow. I had an appointment to get my hair trimmed at Paul Mitchell School which I've been going to for years as I'm a senior on a fixed income & they do a great job. The day before my appointment they called & said they would be closing until April 1st due to Covid-19 & since it was the middle of March I thought I could swing it although my bangs were already kind of long. That was 2 months ago & being in Michigan, we are on an extended stay at home order until May 28th, which could be longer the way things are going here. I teased my bangs, curled my bangs, anything so they would stay out of my eyes but couldn't manage them anymore, until today. I was so nervous as I'm someone who has never done anything to my hair & freak out if I have short bangs, but I did it thanks to you! Now if only I could trim the rest as it's long & thick, but I'm not that crazy! To anyone who's contemplating attempting this, you've found the right video. Thank you!

So glad I found you as I was ready to start cutting out of desperation! I watched twice, once to learn and then had you on while I cut in front of the mirror, following your guidelines. I had to use my little cuticle scissors... yet ended up with great bangs! With all the human suffering going on, it may seem silly, but I feel so much better on a gray, rainy day in Oregon. Stay safe, and thank you!

I just got bangs a year ago and have gone to my stylist every 5 weeks or so for a trim. With the COVID-19 shutdown, it has been almost 2.5 months since my last trim! I was starting to look like cousin it. I tried wearing them to the side and I tried clipping them back, but I was never happy with them. This video was so helpful!!! I've never cut my own hair and this was very easy to do! THANK YOU!!!

Thank you so much for your easy, reassuring approach. I've taken a deep breath and trimmed my fringe for the first time ever. In fact I did it 3 times because I hadn't taken enough length off but much better that way than being horrified! I feel so much better, such a shame that I can't do my colour too but if I home colour my hairdresser won't touch my hair again

I just went to a retired hairdressers home for a trim and she butchered my bangs! She cut them way too short! She just whacked them and they sit about a 1/2 inch above my eyebrows! Thank God I’m not going anywhere for a while! Wish I had seen this before I went. I have longer hair that I mostly wear in a pony tail and my long bangs bother me more than anything. Great tutorial!

sandramA heynemana Oh no, I’m sorry you had that experience. It feels like being a kindergartner when you get your bangs cut too short. Hopefully they grow up quickly and you can take over from here :-)

Charleen Hess yes! Little girl bangs! In the full scope of what’s going on it’s a minor thing lol! They will grow.

Loved your video! After using it and looking at too many for days. They came out great!
Only question is I have cowlicks on each end not coming our right.
Do I point cut or put my fingers on the side and cut or hold through my fingers on the side and cut.? Nervous.. So happy to see. Thank you 😊

      @CharleenHess  4 ปีที่แล้ว

So sorry for the late reply. Just now seeing your comment. When you are dealing with cowlicks make sure your hair is dry, don’t comb it’s tight, comb gently, Place between your fingers then open your fingers and let the colic ‘jump up’ and then point cut. don’t comb all the hair together or pull the hair tight where the cowlick is. does that make sense? Feel free to message me for more specific instruction if you’d like.

Thank you, Charleen! I was worried because the edges of my straight bangs have become very curved because I side sweep them, but the pinch to the middle between the eyebrows method worked well, along with some minor cuts when I release the,. Looking forward to seeing more tutorials from you!

This is my hairstyle, I love curly hair, I wear a fringe. I will use the pinch method next time I trim, I have used the point cutting too. My hair is fine but wavy.

I will all the tips and tricks I can. I would avoid using thinning scissors, especially if you have thin hair. a Precision haircut makes all the difference. I'd be happy to consult with you. Message me through the Virtual Salon if you want more specific help. charleenhess.com/hair-dresser/#Virtual_Salon

I’m about to go trim my bangs now and super excited. Is there any way to help maintain the split ends on long hair yourself? You’d be amazing at teaching how to French braid! I think I’d almost be willing to move to have you as my hairstylist
