- In this video we do the following:
1 - talk about MÖRK BORG as a phenomenon
2 - give MÖRK BORG background lore (as much as is possible)
3 - explain rules of MÖRK BORG core play
4 - explain core rules of solo MÖRK BORG using solitary defilement
5 - do a little bit of Session zero-ing by creating my character.
@DesertDwellerSoloGaming I know this doesn't count as my playthrough, that is still coming this month!!!

Video 9 (6 of 3) of me liking and then commenting on every new upload to beg Papa Man Alone for Mork Borg Gameplay and/or Campaign.
I love the @ in the video description lmao. I’m so excited for the content. My copy of Sölitary Defilement arrived recently as well. Thanks to you sharing the secrets.
😊
Lol you know what I love most about these comments is that they are somewhat polite..."and/or" a campaign. haha thank you for the choice! So many hostage takers never say things like that, i.e. "I want a helicopter and/or ten million dollars!!!"
Hell yeah. Mork Borg was my introduction to RPGs, and solo RPGs as well! Really excited to dig into this video.
I have 2 seasons (1 finished, 1 unfinished) of playthroughs of Mork Borg using Solitary Defilement on my channel, and I've written a book that supplements Solitary Defilement with a bunch of extra material called Solitary Depths.
I just sent over a coupon for a free version of the physical version to your e-mail. Hope you like it!
Edit: Love your custom character sheets, I do the same for a lot of my solo RPG sessions! Also, hey, I have those same d2 skull coins, haha.
Hey nice to see you here. I'm a fan of your channel and the Mork Borg playthrough. And of course, the drawings. Looking forward to cracking into Solitary Depths one of these days.
@@Melvin7727 Thank you for the kind words! Solitary Depths currently has a few free community copies remaining on Itch - feel free to grab one!
Can't wait to get this going!
Solitary defilement, Solitary Depths, Alone in the Crowd and Feratory are the greatest solo RPG books / tools on the market for solo / coop RPGing.
Is there a table for weak hits? Something like:
1-You lost something in the attempt (theft, breakage, respect, etc.,).
2-Your outcome is half as effective.
3-It's harder than you thought. Abandon the task, or push through (-1 hp).
4-The task takes twice as long. (Treat as 3 in combat.)
5-Your success has made things worse in the near future.
6-Your confidence is shaken. You must try a different approach next time.
I’d say you just made a damn good weak hit table!! No table afaik but they do talk about how to handle those and I’m used to it from ironsworn so I have a good menu of ideas in my mind grapes
I love how the authors are trolling us all by expecting nobody to pronounce the “ö” in Mörk Borg, yet then they go in to add a “ö” to solitary. Brilliant. 😎
Sadly, different authors...
@@arheru Oh, darn… 😔
"SYOLEATARY DEFYLEMUNT"

I have been working on tweaking Solitary Defilement to fit the Pirate Borg theme and feel I'm pretty close. If you would ever like to take a look at it just let me know!
Mayo spooned directly from the jar sounds like a form of torture...and your deli meats videos will be sorely missed.
Looking forward to this series! Bring it on!
Thank you for your bravery in admitting your mayo habit. you are hereby sentenced to life in prison. we cannot allow this behavior in polite society.
Your transparency is what I love best about your videos.
And fessing up to your failed dumb lights off experiment and confessing you're wasting [my] time was pure gold!
I love it!
Thanks for giving some love to Mork Borg and the solo suppliment.
You made some great points in countering the "style over substance" arguement, and I agree!
Mork Borg has been in my wheelhouse for years now. I play it almost every week!
I look forward to more of your videos!
I have no editing capabilities, a $40 mic, a crappy camera, and indigestion. The least I can offer you is my honesty vintoks!!!!
Either I have a different version of Mörk Borg or this is some sort of Mandela Effect but you don't go down the dice ladder for the calendar... I recently heard multiple TH-camrs mentioning this but it definitly isn't in my book... I just checked. I read the rule as you choose this before the start of the game and stick with it... Thus a d100 is some miserable years
I love MB btw. My first OSR game - haven't gone back to either Pathfinder or DnD ever since. I don't know why I ever bothered with them in the first place. It just never occurred to me that ttrpg don't have to be about number crunching...
no sometimes it's better to just keep your numbers to single digits and blast some skeletons apart
This is an incredible combo that doesn't get enough love.
Thank you so much for featuring it and covering it in such a comprehensive, informative, and entertaining way.
Anyone who endure SIX Man Alone videos is an absolute self-hating beast of a nerd. Much respect.
obviously there's a level of derangement there, I have to do the video just as charity for a sad soul like that
Crawl sheets were additional pdfs. Love the mini crawl concepts. Also do Not neglect Alone in the Crowd. It introduced a lot of cool ideas, like city chases and City Crawls.
As far as condiments spicy mayo.
I found the pdfs!!! Alone in the Crowd...was that part of that or did I miss that?
Hi, great video! I had a couple questions. For someone interested in Soloing Mork Borg, what books do you recommend getting? Also Where did you get your decision dice (the black yes, yes and, no, maybe, etc) and that cool d4?
video 1 of me liking and then commenting to force Man Alone to actually do a deli meat review video.
lol oh god no please don't do it. I think you might have to do 100 for this
@@amanisalone you're the one depriving yourself of delicious deli meats and the opportunity to solo roleplay them.
"Today on Man Alone" - 15 minutes of waffling later - "So anyway, I picked up this stick of Chorizo and I thought, 'I can probably solo this.' It's 15 centimeters long, so we'll be using 2d20 and try to roll under it's length on at least one of the dice." *Waves the chorizo around* "Every time neither die lands under, I fail the roll and I'll have to take a bite out of it, that means the game gets harder as the chorizo gets shorter and shorter. This is like life, where as time goes on you can find yourself trapped in a cycle of failure, but you can never give up the hope of rolling a one and succeeding against all odds."
Ravi Shankar eats his own flaming eyeballs in an angry fugue of rage in 88th layer of the Abyss at your comment. Then again, he is now Ravishank Mörkar, Bard of Demoborgon. And his sitars bring doom.
This was one of the most interesting comments I ever read, and I read it like six times. I am pretty sure this is a hex? I'm hexed now, right?
@@amanisalone lol nah.
I think Morg Borg is one of the easiest TTRPG to play solo because the rules are one page and they can be so easy modified for custom setting. You don’t nees to play in the Morg Borg universe. The best thing about MB is the player facing rolls which simplifies the game and also the monster stats. HP, damage, motivation is all you need.
COMPLETELY AGREE!
Great stuff as always
(tips hats and winks) just doin my job (rides away on horse, but horse is a donkey and I fall of into a ravine)
Your vids get me through the brain-numbing slog of a work day. Thank you!
Also, honey mustard.
now we're talking - honey mustard by the truckload!!!
Great video as usaual. I have Mork Borg but spending more time on solo Forbidden Psalm, dig miniature painting and playing. Also, picked up the Core Manual & GM Guide for Symbaroum so looking forward to your solo work on Symbaroum.
oh man I am so stoked about symbaroum - finally completed my set with the Advanced Players Guide!
I have yet to get neck deep into a Borg/Psalm campaign, but I keep getting supplement books because they (for the most part) are interesting to read and look at. Can't wait for your play.
1:12:59 How to Use Solitary Defilement
*listens to video* *looks at Mork Borg on shelf collecting dust* *looks at box of Pathfinder core books that just arrived* ....*looks longingly back at Mork Borg*
Just ignore it...don't look over at your shelf...you love your Pathfinder books...you don't wake up in the night in cold sweats thinking about the 88 page MB book...
@amanisalone i dunno man, i mean these books just came in...
In all seriousness, so stoked for this playthru. Would love for you to do vids on running included adventures (like rot black sludge) if you get time. Im always too intimidated to try a premade campaign because I don't know how to retain any surprise.
The crawlsheets are included with the PDF. It’s a wierd concept.
I found them from my oooooold download from itch.io but I do think they're free now?
Wow, just what I was looking for!
Oh man, I can never play a game of DnD without my "ring with a brain on it". Classic DnD! Mörk Borg can't even compete...
HAHAHA yeah I just calls it like I sees it!
jalapeno relish is my answer to the bonus question but plz do more borgy morky defiling!!!
Old Bay Street from the bottle
If you want to pronounce Mork Borg, listen to the Swedish Chef singing.
There is a bare bones pdf of Mork Borg out there. I like the art but it drives me nuts trying to read the book lol.
Almost ANY book looks good compared to 5e, though I did enjoy that brutal take down of the DMG. Mork Borg has some good stuff and is interesting to look at (like a messy car crash), but for actually using it, I'll stick to the plain text versions.
You need to give every single person who participated in the "I can solo that" contest a trophy because they participated.
no participation trophies! There will be winners and then everyone else must do a walk of shame to Vimeo
Thanks for the in-depth explanation, I've seen it mentioned in a lot of places without knowing what it was.
I don't mind the gist of the setting but it looks and sounds like something I'd actually hate to GM for others or play solo.
And I would drink spicy mayo from the jar.
When you mentioned the d&d books about them having things in them that won't really be used
I agree, but 5e is my mine game the way I see it is more like a menu at a restaurant, I use the core system and throw out alot of rules and just do it narratively or simplify it, it flows quite well then, I think the idea of d&d is to make it your own, if I can't be bothered with certain things eg travel rules ; I'll just do it narratively and estimate the time it takes to get to the chosen location just remembering the 24miles per day.
absolutely, I was being a bit obtuse of course. I think there is something to be said for just having so many options. I also think just because it's in the book doesn't mean you have to use everything. So yes, I was basically being a bit of an a-hole to prove a point but I think I was just being defensive about MB
@@amanisalone youre not a a-hole, you're allowed an opinion 🙂 plus i really enjoyed your video on philosophy, really gave me food for thought and changed the way i see Solo gaming
1. Great video
2. Not quite a condiment, but I would drink malt vinegar by the bottle if it was socially permissible. Unfortunately, we live in a society
Don't bow to the fools, you drink from that bottle if you want to! ❤
@@AceneDean Thank you king, may your ketchup always be Heinz
oh my gosh I love it on Fridays but wouldn't drinking it straight evaporate my stomach lining? Or I guess maybe it neutralizes acid so would it just BASE my stomach to nothing?
@@amanisalone you gotta get on that malted grindset, turn that stomach acid i to stomach alkaline!
@@amanisalone on a serious note I recently discovered your channel and I'm enjoying it. You've sold me on Mork Borg and I'm tempted to play it, albeit with some aesthetic changes (I find a lot of the 80's anti-Christian vibe to be a bit cringe tbh, but that's just me). The apocalyptic calendar function looks perfect for 1:1 time, #BroSR style
Tzatziki! Fresh as all frick!
Love it on a gyro, but plain? Well I guess it's just yogurt with garlic and dill, right? I mean I eat strawberry yogurt so why am I prejudiced against garlic and dill?
@@amanisalone Never had it with dill. I think the Orthodoxy of Sauce commands it to contain cucumber instead, which makes it supremely fresh.
Ranch
I could live my life near drowning in honey.
okay this is true I have 100% just squirted honey onto a spoon and gulped it and put it back on the shelf
BBQ sauce
Not sure if it counts as a condiment but that Greek sauce made with yogurt and cucumber and garlic. I would main line it if I could.
you're the second to mention Tzatziki!
@@amanisalone thank you I could not freaking remember what it was called for all I was worth. As far as I can tell the only difference between tzatziki and heroin is that tzatziki is legal.
Mörk Borg is a strange beast: I've had one of the best sessions in my life GMing it, but some of the products are laughable. Have you seen the new pamphlet by Johan Nohr and his son? Have you seen what it costs? The _pamphlet_?!
I know...however I think (THINK!) that I saw on twitter yesterday that he is drawing a picture and writing a personal message in every single one of those pamphlets? That's wild.
@@amanisalone Fair, I guess (?). Sort of like a collectible. It's just... Compared to something like Trilemma adventures, which is a book of superb one-page dungeons at a similar cost, it gives off a cash-grabby vibe.
@@arheru yeah I feel you on that, I think that it might be one of those things where the value is determined by the price which sets expectations of value which allows for a higher price (and so on). I love MB but I’m not gonna be in for that much…
Worcestershire sauce!
no this cannot be real...how do your inner cheeks survive?
@@amanisalone 😂😂😂
Fancy sauce, you know ketchup and mayonnaise together
hahaha one time I brought fancy sausage with miniature sausage winers to a party and only later realized it was supposed to be a "classy" party. I was like...uhhh...it's called "fancy" sauce???
Horseradish sauce. Revenge upon my accursed sinuses.
how could you do that to yourself
BALSAMIC VINEGAR
WHAT IT'S JUST OIL AND VINEGAR, RIGHT???
@@amanisalone ONE GLASS OF OIL AND VINEGAR, NEAT, PLEASE.
Chick-Fil-A Sauce.
Still waiting for the Borg Borg Star Trek hack. 😢
lol damn every time you write this I think...hmmm...I think I *could* do that
Marmite. I would not need to be forced.
you and my girlfriend!!! How do you brits eat that stuff is like yeast jelly that looks like poo poo!
@@amanisalone Something deep in our DNA that means we need to be constantly atoning for unknown things in our past!
Because the glow-in-the-dark demo didn't work, this is where you start a patreon not so you can make money but so you can get money to get a better camera and improve the channel..... At least that's what everybody else seems to say on TH-cam it's not cuz I want the money it's cuz I want to improve the channel. Well my channel is going to continue to suck. Setting up a patreon or some account where people can send me money is too much work.
BTW, the substance of Mork Borg is its style. Hate is way too strong a word for a game, but I'm sure not interested in playing it.
I will only start a patreon when I have enough followers to quit my day job!!! I don't need the money yet - but I might if/when I get canned!
So one book filled with tools, items, enemies, options, etc good. Other books with the same things bad. Not that im a fan of dnd either but gives off some man shouts at clouds vibes.
Over-description bad. Let me create the world, not be spoon fed a bunch of needless description. But hey different strokes for different folks
Is that dark fört or dark färt? The difference would be eschatological as opposed to scatalogical. That matters. One deals with a deep dark philosophical set of concepts and the other is, well, biology. 🤣
lol I knew where the joke was going five words In, but I went ahead and read the rest of the comment anyway
@@amanisalone I congratulate you on your intestinal fortitude. Just because I cannot resist sophomoric jokes, doesn't mean anyone should be forced to read them.
Still waiting for you to solo an OSR Technics turntable with a salami
Okay serious question if you carved the little lines into a flat salami, will it play a song just like a vinyl?
You should not give into cyberstalkers. I'll just continue to encourage you to play other solo games. This will spiral out of control into a psychotic depressive state where you are driven by random texts in your comment section and no longer have any self-control. 😊
