I had to cancel at the beginning because I couldn't get it out of "test mode." It was a disaster. How do you list a "give away item?" Your video was okay but too fast for beginners. Thanks
You will know if they can hear you because if they cannot hear you, they will let you know in the chat. You can pick whatever item that you have listed in the auctions and run it. Does not have to be any certain order. I never have done the test mode, so I cannot comment on that one. To do a Giveaway Item you need to add it as a giveaway just like you would when adding to your auction tab. Sorry it was to fast. I plan on doing an updated on in the near future. Thanks for watching.
Phone does work as long as your printer would support it. If you check the video description we have a link to the Rollo printer we use and love. It has been a game changer in printing labels for eBay, Whatnot, Mercari and other sites.
As a buyer you can check out the persons live, they have scheduled or are running and click on the item you are interested in and place a "pre-bid". You can place your max bid but that will be the highest. If the seller starts it below your pre-bid, your bid will not go into effect since it was higher. Something I wish they would change but for now that is how it is.
Hi, I have been wanting to see how whatnot works. I have been trying to get in but it keeps directing me to the area to sign up to sell. I have android, do you have android or apple?
Can you go a little more in depth about streaming. The jobs of the laptop and phone. Do you manage the auction from the laptop. I am a bit behind on this part. Have tried a few auctions and having a hard time with this part in particular
They ask that you do your first show in the category you signed up in. After that they say you can reach out and they will grant permission to sell in other areas. I have done a few shows in multiple categories. Once you are approved and go through your orientation, they will go over all that.
Can you use whatnot to make money and not move inventory say I work hard at sourcing items way under valued can I make money on whatnot or is it very difficult not on 1 item but on a lot as a whole. Thank you
You can make money on Whatnot if you do it right. The main thing where people that start out that really messes them up is they start auctions at $1. After fees you will get about .50 cents. Unless you have a great following, you need to start your items where you are comfortable. I don't normally start anything under $3. That way if I buy a shirt for a dollar and it ends at three dollars, I make something. Also if you have great items, you will do very well. I have sold stuff that sat on eBay for more than I had it listed on eBay.
@@YinzerPicker there is a dude on eBay selling them, but he doesn’t package them well. They come distorted due to the Polly bag (no protection) that he ships them in. They are almost useless. Unless you want to photoshop the mannequin out of all your photos. He did refund me for all 4 of them….I did not have to return them. Just sayin…
How far are you able to get? Did you set it up? Once you do that you can start the auction and run it from the device you want. It also helps to have a good connection to the internet. If you can post a few details I may be able to help. good luck!
You have to weigh everything before creating a label. Guess it doesn’t matter how much cuz they are paying for it . If it’s more than one you have to ship together ? What not prefers it
Correct. We do clothing so I can normally guess what the shirt weighs. I will weigh some of them to get it close when its heavier. If a buyer buys multiple items, you have to ship together.
You can do it! There is a learning curve. My biggest piece of advice is to sign up now (since it can take long to sell) and watch other auctions. Watching other sellers on there has helped me see what works and what does not. Not every auction we have done has been great but we are selling things that normally might sit on eBay or other sites.
I use eBay.. OfferUp and Mercari. I like the fact that I can just leave my inventory and things will sell without any work from me. This seems that I have to invest my time ..and I'm so busy with my personal life and work that I don't have time to be doing live auctions
Whatnot is a great site to get of some inventory that does not move on the other sites. I have sold things on whatnot for more than I had it listed for on eBay.
Yeah that seems a lot of work. When eBay, Mercari and OfferUp takes up a lot time too. But i think some ppl like interacting with their fans. To each their own 😉👌🏽but thanks for showing how it works
Thanks for the comment. I will be honest with you that it seems like a lot of work and maybe it feels like that at the beginning. But it is probably less work for me than eBay (I do not sell on Mercari or OfferUp so I cannot comment on them). I only sell shirts on Whatnot at the moment. I do not have to take tons of pictures. I show the shirt for 20 seconds and it normally sells. Packaging takes about the same time as eBay when I sell clothes. Whatnot is great for some items but not others. I have sold stuff on this site that I couldn't sell on another site. It's definitely not for everyone.
The obvious difference is .. …building a brand and making concurrent sells …and listing items for sale Business or garage sale ? But whatnot has “Buy it Now” option listings to!
So, I just got my email stating that I have been approved and to set up my onboarding time. A big question I have is do I have to use the whatnot shipping labels or can I just take the package to the USPS, UPS, etc., and just the the label that they provide for the tracking info? Just trying to make sure I have everything I need. Also, do you know if they require the onboarding meeting to be done via laptop camera or can I use a my smart phone?
You have to use the whatnot labels. The shipping through whatnot is probably the easiest thing you will do. When you set up your live's and put the items in that you will run, make sure to put the weight for the item fairly close. This way it gives the buyer the correct shipping charge since a seller does not see that money. After your sale, just package up your item at home, weight it and enter the weight on the page and print. If you have to adjust the weight, its no big deal. For the onboarding if I remember correctly, you could use either as long as you were showing yourself.
@@YinzerPicker so to use my existing printer, I would just need to buy the labels, correct? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to have all of my ducks in a row. Lol
That is true. They have the onboarding but really do not "tell" you anything. Luckily, I had some sellers that I knew help me out and figured doing a video would help out other new sellers. After the first one it gets super easy.
How old is your oldest daughter? She does a great job… I am a single Dad of my 10 year old daughter and we are getting ready to start selling on whatnot and I was wondering if we was allowed to include our children as help… you answered my question quickly lol😂 my kid is a computer wiz kid so I’m sure she can handle it
Sometimes items on Whatnot do not go for what you want. Its a risk you take when you start low. But sometimes if your buy point is low, you can sell low and make it up somewhere else.
You can make up the difference when you sell another shirt/item for way more than you thought it would go for. I have had shirts that sell on eBay for $5 go for $50 on Whatnot.
Yes and no. They do not make money on shipping if the sellers enter the correct weight for the items. I have seen someone put 3 ounces to ship a hoodie. In this case, Whatnot is losing money. But I have also seen someone put 1lb to ship a photo and in that case, they make money. So, it can go both ways.
Ive never run a whatnot auction. This was not at all helpful. How do you set up an account? How do you connect your phone? any special settings? How do you enter your item into the auction? How do you do giveaways? what about raids? "how to run a whatnot auction" - as clickbait - effective. As an actual teaching aid - useless.
Sorry you felt that way and out of all the views you are the first negative one. Creating an account is simple. All you need to do is click sign up. As for raids, that is honestly a new feature and I should update this video since when I made this, that was not an option.

To use your SONY camera, are you using OBS? Or is it just straight into the computer?
Thanks!!!
Straight into the computer via a USB for streaming.
I am new can i use a tablet to print the labels , do i just need 1 phone 😂??
You can use a tablet as long as you are connected to a printer. One phone would work.
What about a print label from phone ? , whats a good printers ? U would suggest
Phone does work as long as your printer would support it. If you check the video description we have a link to the Rollo printer we use and love. It has been a game changer in printing labels for eBay, Whatnot, Mercari and other sites.
So you don't get anything from the shipping money?
Nope. They set the price for each item depending on the weight. Honestly makes it much easier.
Hi. Do you know to set incremental bids?
As a buyer you can check out the persons live, they have scheduled or are running and click on the item you are interested in and place a "pre-bid". You can place your max bid but that will be the highest. If the seller starts it below your pre-bid, your bid will not go into effect since it was higher. Something I wish they would change but for now that is how it is.
@@YinzerPicker iam a seller I’m asking how to make bids go up incremental meaning by $2 or $4 jump?
@@fatmesleiman286 I'm not sure you can do that. I have never tried. Could possibly be in the settings somewhere.
@@YinzerPicker yeah I see many sellers have that set up but cannot figure it out! Thank you for your reply
Good video. Great family!!!
Thank you!
Hi, I have been wanting to see how whatnot works. I have been trying to get in but it keeps directing me to the area to sign up to sell. I have android, do you have android or apple?
Android only here. If you follow my link in the description, you can sign up and that way you can watch shows and purchase something.
Can you go a little more in depth about streaming. The jobs of the laptop and phone. Do you manage the auction from the laptop. I am a bit behind on this part. Have tried a few auctions and having a hard time with this part in particular
I can work on that. Thanks!
Do you have to stick to video games if you start selling like that or can you sell whatever you want?
They ask that you do your first show in the category you signed up in. After that they say you can reach out and they will grant permission to sell in other areas. I have done a few shows in multiple categories. Once you are approved and go through your orientation, they will go over all that.
Do you print out the shipping label directly from whatnots website/app?
Yes. You can either print directly or save a pdf then print.
great guide, thinking about getting into ripping pokemon packs for whatnot
Good luck. It has gotten tougher. We need to start our shows back up. The key is being consistent.
Does whatNot charge you a fee for using its service?
@jeremyhood1660 yes. On there page they list the most up to date fees.
Does whatnot take taxes out of what you sell
No you will have to pay your taxes at the end of the year.
Helped me a lot. Thanks.
Awesome. Glad I could help.
What do u use to print out the labels instead of using just regular paper?
I use a Rollo printer. I have a link in the description to the one I use. It also helps to print out the packing slip.
@@YinzerPicker I saw that, thanks might have to invest in that if things go well on my first what not stream in a couple weeks 👊
Don't get discouraged with your first one if it does not go well. Its definetly a learning process.
Lol, you purchased a mannequin head….squished, probably got it that way? Me too! Had to complain 😂 5:57
I have had that for years. Not even sure where I got it from. But I bought it used and it came like that.
Just sayin…
I wish u showed what the screen looks like during auction..
@SoberAgoraphobic i do. The screens looks the same as what buyers see. I will be doing an updated video though.
Great video thanks for the info
No problem 👍
I am having trouble with getting my live auction running
How far are you able to get? Did you set it up? Once you do that you can start the auction and run it from the device you want. It also helps to have a good connection to the internet. If you can post a few details I may be able to help. good luck!
Thank you I am just starting selling
How can you reset your password. I forgot mine 😢😢😢😢
If you go to the website and click "Log In", you will see an option at the bottom to reset your password.
My friend told me today that I need to sell on Whatnot. It still scares me. LOL. Thanks for the inside information.
You can do it! There is a learning curve. My biggest piece of advice is to sign up now (since it can take long to sell) and watch other auctions. Watching other sellers on there has helped me see what works and what does not. Not every auction we have done has been great but we are selling things that normally might sit on eBay or other sites.
Thank you so muck
…building a brand and making concurrent sells …and listing items for sale
Business or garage sale ?
But whatnot has “Buy it Now” option listings to!
This is faster
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I just got approved to sell yesterday...this is very informative. They're saying I have to pass a quiz before I go live did you have to do the same?
Great to hear. I did not have to pass a quiz. The only thing I had to do was an orientation.
@@YinzerPicker I had to pass a quiz and I made mistakes. It takes you back to the answers and helps you get it right! I had my first live yesterday!
I got approved to sell silver and coins. Still a little nervous. Not 100% if I'm supposed to stream from my phone or laptop.
You can stream from whichever device you feel comfortable. I have done both. No matter where I stream from, I run the auction from my laptop.
@@YinzerPicker so for the labels do I need a certain type of printer? I have a printer/copier that I hope will work for the labels
@@junkwaxflashbacks nope. You can use a label printer or regular printer. Just make sure you set it up in the settings for what you are using
@@YinzerPicker so to use my existing printer, I would just need to buy the labels, correct? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to have all of my ducks in a row. Lol
@Junk Wax Flashbacks it's all good. You can either buy labels or print on regular paper
Thanks!
Welcome!
Super helpful, Whatnot should have a short training course
That is true. They have the onboarding but really do not "tell" you anything. Luckily, I had some sellers that I knew help me out and figured doing a video would help out other new sellers. After the first one it gets super easy.
@@YinzerPicker thanks again will follow u on there
Thank you buddy
No problem 👍
Very nice!
Thanks!
❤ thanks
How old is your oldest daughter? She does a great job… I am a single Dad of my 10 year old daughter and we are getting ready to start selling on whatnot and I was wondering if we was allowed to include our children as help… you answered my question quickly lol😂 my kid is a computer wiz kid so I’m sure she can handle it
She is 12. Whatnot has no age limit. Good luck on whatnot.
@@YinzerPicker thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Wish you had gone step by step and showed how and what goes on during the show.
You look and sound a bit like Nick Swardson the actor 😂❤️❤️
Thats the first time I have been compared to him. Thanks for watching!
Those cello bags are nightmares! Do yourself a favor and go with clear poly bags.
I agree. I had a company send me these for free. They are awful.
ya word
haha beautful family brotha
Seems so complicated. I don't have that many devices. All I have is my phone.
Actually all you need is your phone. A good bit of the sellers use only a phone.
i cant believe that shirt only went for $5,
Sometimes items on Whatnot do not go for what you want. Its a risk you take when you start low. But sometimes if your buy point is low, you can sell low and make it up somewhere else.
Make it up when though?@@YinzerPicker
@@YinzerPicker I wholesale in NY
You can make up the difference when you sell another shirt/item for way more than you thought it would go for. I have had shirts that sell on eBay for $5 go for $50 on Whatnot.
That's the thing whatnot making money off the shipping
As for raids, that is honestly a new feature and I should update this video since when I made this, that was not an option.
th-cam.com/video/MI35hm2TQ38/w-d-xo.html I also did video about setup. Also once you log in your phone is connected.
