Hey, thanks, so glad I could give you some insight from an android side. I actually have that exact video on my list, Running an auction and recording the start to finish of it. It will be a few weeks before I can accomplish that one but I will be doing that for sure!

I was traumatized by the first one 😆😂 thanks for sharing!!
Hey! Thanks so much and I totally get the first show being overwhelming. Android definitely has its disadvantages but it's still very workable. As far as the show notes, those will be located on the top left of your screen or the right hand side on desktop. You can put whatever information you want people to know in there and I usually just copy and paste that to every single show. And then as far as pinning things go these are actually listings that you're going to create as like an auction listing and you're just going to title the listing anything that you want pinned up to the bottom of your screen. For example I have a welcome message that just says welcome I'm doing housekeeping check out the show notes and the auction tab, make any requests or ask any questions. And that isn't something that I run as an auction I just pin it to the homepage and everyone can see it when they pop in. I have one for ending the show, washing people out and showing New Inventory. You should definitely do more shows and try out some new ideas. I always like to tell people to give it at least five shows before they make up their mind. 🫶
@@resellmaven thank you so much for the quick reply. I was lost because it was speeded up 😆😂. I will definitely work on this. Hi I’m Sarah, I watched your channel and now I really need your help on how to start my show on what not. I have some questions to you about the timer. And what if your product is not sold and you want to bundle it how can you get your shipping label, do you need to set up the bundle item to your apps or what? I hope you can help me, thank you
Hey Sarah! Super exciting you want to start selling on Whatnot. So looks like you have a variety of questions and I can definitely answer those but I need some more context or specific questions. If you're interested in a coaching call, you can message me on Instagram @resellmaven Or just feel free to elaborate on your questions so I can make sure I answering what you're asking 😊
So that is a stagnant auction beta program for sellers to run auction similar to Ebay and the buyers can bid on your items fornthe duration of your auction. No need to be live to run a short auction, this could be a 5 day or 7 day style auction.
Yes, it is called How I Pack Whatnot Orders I believe. It is in my list of videos and isnone of the fist few videos I made. I go through the supplies I use and how I pack certain different sized packages.
Hi, thank you! When you run an auction, the buyers will see an option to slide a bar and place a bid on the items running on screen. When the timer runs out the final bidder is the winner. Once they win, their information for shipping will be automatically added to your seller dashboard. At the end of your show, you can go to you dashboard to prep all your orders and you will put in the final weight in dimensions of the box, and then click print label which will automatically generate a label with the address of the buyer.
Thanks for the video. Also, could you make a video and show how during a live show on how to get the auction to show up at the bottom of the screen with the 10 sec timer during the live show. I'm new to whatnot and haven't done a show yet.
Hey, so there is a seller dashboard and anytime someone makes a purchase in your show, their information will be linked to the order. You will finalize the correct weight and dimensions and then generate the label as usual. It is very user friendly on the back end
Great video. Can you explain how to control postage costs for buyer (&me) when same buyer buys multiple items that could ship TOGETHER for less that listed show postage, i.e. 1 buyer buys 20 one ounce items with postage listed at $1 each that I can mail together for $6. How to make that a better deal for us and not pay $20 to post office?
Hey, great question, so Whatnot will auto calculate the appropriate shipping cost when buyers make multiple purchases. If the items you're sending are ground or priority mail, the buyer should only be charged ever 4oz of increased weight
Hi. Do you preload the book names and descriptions into the Auction tab before the show or just go with generic descriptions like Book#1 then go live with it, then Book #2, etc etc.??? And do you use a separate laptop while live on the show or manage everything from your phone? Thx u.
Hey! Since I don't list any individual books to run on auction I do just list the generic book one, book two so on and so forth however you definitely can list individual books in your auction. If you're not running as large of a bulk operation and maybe you don't want to do bundles, then that would be a great time to individually list your items in the auction. Now I do list items individually in my buy it now for people to purchase and I will list it with a picture, description and a title. Those I don't run as auction, they are stagnant listings. The only time I use a laptop is what I'm doing plush shows when I do a book show I am only using my phone to stream and control the show, including running items
Thank you very much for taking the time to respond! Very very helpful information. I am planning on running sports cards so they will be small, quick high volume transactions so I am guessing the generic 1,2,3 descriptions would likely be best right? And I’d like the ability to bounce around to different cards. Not necessarily in preplanned order. Am I thinking about this the right way?
100% I think that is your best bet. Just find a good way to organize and label them when they sell. Little post it's or something that won't damage the card but also won't fall off is crucial. Thanks so much!
This was such a great video!!! I've seen some auctions on whatnot where people are walking around their house streaming live, pointing to items and making sales, as opposed to creating products and then doing the auction. How do they remember who purchased the item? Is their a recording that they can view? Thanks again!!
Thanks so much!! Whatnot definitely allows a lot of flexibility to run your shows how you want so whatever way works for you and your viewers. As far as remembering who purchased what, you definitely need some sort of labeling system. When I do auctions that don't have items listed individually I usually use like painter's tape to just mark what number the auction was. You can view your past shows for reference as well but I highly recommend an organization and labeling system 😊
Thank you SO MUCH! Glad I found your video! I've been waiting for Whatnot's help center to answer a critical question... and you answered it in your video! Another question I have... is it true that Whatnot limits your shipping adjustments to 5 per week? But don't I have to adjust every shipment based on the actual weight and dimensions of the package so USPS has the correct information? Or am I totally confused?? :) Thank you!
Hey, you're so welcome!! So glad to hear I answered your question. So yes, you will need to adjust your dimensions and weight when generating a label and as long as you aren't adjusting to the point of a price change you're good. For example, let's say you sell something at a 12oz shipping weight but after packing it ends up being 1.2lbs, that would result in a "label adjustment" and you get 5 of those free as long as they are minor adjustments. After you use those 5, it will charge your account the label cost difference. Hope that makes sense! Definitely feel free to come to the Live here on TH-cam 8/7 @3pm ET if you have any other questions I can answer live for you!
I'm not familiar with any keyboards commands, but I also rum my auctions through my phone. To run a giveaway you would just go into your store on your selling screen and start the giveaway
I do look to see who else is on from time to time, maybe if I'm planning a bigger show and don't want to interfere with anyone but I really just stay in my lane and stick to my weekly schedule. Same days and times every week
Hey! I actually do a lot of shows nowadays where I'm only showing my hands and not my overall body and I just have the camera flipped around as you can kind of see, and I show the books that way. So I am physically behind the camera sitting down but my hands and books are in front of the camera
Hi there, new subscribers here from Canada. I used to sell on whatnot but I quit 3 years ago and of course I forgot how it works. So, question, are the shipping per item? Or If I could remember correctly, first item is an x $ amount, & the 2nd & so forth are flat rate like $1 per item after the first?. Please enlighten me. Thanks a lot.
Hey welcome back to Whatnot! So shipping is still a flat rate and then instead of $1 per item after, it is based on the weight of the item. It could be free if it's light and won't change the overall weight of the package to a few bucks more if it's heavy and will alter the shipping weight or dimensions. I have quite a few people who have reached out to me from Canada and I do know that the Whatnot Market has still yet to truly grow up there so I see a lot of Canadian sellers expressing a little frustration because to sell to the US, shipping usually starts at about $15 and then goes up so the barrier to entry for Canadian sellers is a little larger due to your market size. When they inevitably have some sort of international shipping program in place I think it'll be a lot easier but for now I know that you really have to tap into your Canadian market and see what they're buying and what they want so that you have buyers
Great video. I am having my first show in week or so. I got my items in order and listed them in that same order. I put the numbers on the hangers as well. When I go back and look at what I loaded, it’s in a different order! Every time I look at it, the order has changed. I’m nervous about keeping it straight when it doesn’t match up anymore. Any help would be appreciated ❤
Hey, thanks! So that's a great idea to keep track of items. The first thing that comes to mind when I think of them being out of order is because sometimes Whatnot will put numbers in order based on the actual numbers not necessarily the numerical order. For example let's say you have items listed with the numbers 1 through 20, usually it will list the numbers like this it'll be 1, 11, 12, 13 so on, and then it would go back to number 2 and then the last number would probably be number 20. If that's what it looks like, then what I see some people do to go around that is to list the numbers with zeros in front, so listing it like 001, 002, 003, so on and so forth. If you'd like to drop your whatnot username I can definitely take a look and see if I'm seeing something different on my end 😊
Hello! So there are a few different ways to do a number system but the way I do mine is once an auction has ran, I label the book with the number of the auction that was. For example if the book weighs 4-7 oz and it was the 5th book I've ran in that weight range, the label would say 4-7/5 on a sticky note. Some people pre load their auction with numbers 1- whatever and label that way. I'm not 100% sure if that answered your question just let me know!
How do you know what shipping cost to charge if someone buys more than 1 book from your show. Do you just charge double,ie, if shipping for 1 book is $4 than add $4 shipping for each additional book?
Hey, so shipping for books is calculated by weight when shipped via media mail. So the base rate for any media mail is $4.63 and then depending on the weight of each book being purchased, the price goes up anywhere from free shipping to a few bucks. Most of the time every pound of additional weight in the package is about $.50-$60. So for example if I ran an auction for a book that weighed 7oz, the buyer would be charged $4.63 then let's say the same buyer buds on another book that only weighs 4oz, their shipping on the send item is free bc it is still under the 1lb. If the second book was 10oz, the additional shipping may be about 50 cents since it is now over a pound for the order. Hopefulyl that makes sense but whatnot does the shipping automatically so you don't need to worry about it. Just make sure you have buyer pays shipping on when you set up your show!
Hi thanks for your videos. I need help please. So I scheduled my first show, i created 300 listings. I need to make changes, is there a way where i am able to bulk edit the bid starting amount? And also bulk delete? Thanks!
Hey there! Congrats on getting your first show scheduled and set up! So as far as I know, there is not a way to bulk edit the starting bid but if you could it would likely be on desktop. Go on a computer and click on your listings or the show it's already in. As far as bulk deleting, you should be able to do that and it would be from your listing page as well.
Hi, do I always have to make listings of each item that are going to be on the live show? coz I think it defeats the purpose of selling fast. It's like the same as just making regular listings on other marketplaces...
Hey! So yes and no, you can choose to list all the items you will have available for each show if you would like and then anything that doesn't sell you can clone those listings to future shows. Or you can just have all the items you have available out and on display to just show the details live and run as a generic auction. What I mean by a generic auction is for example you could make a listing with a quantity of like 100 and List It by the weight. So what I do is I have a listing for 4 to 7 oz, 12 to 15 oz, 1 to 2 lb, 2 to 3 lb so on and so forth and then when someone asks for you to run an item that you're showing you just run an auction based on the weight of the item that way the shipping is calculated correctly and you didn't have to individually list everything. Let me know if that didn't answer your question and thank you so much for watching!
I just started whatnot. Tomorrow is my first auction. I hope it goes well. I follow yer channel. My username is Blaakstaaks. Ima be selling some gameboy advance games/vintage toys. Eventually I want to move on to cards and music mainly. But I will have different days. I will be running a beanie babies/ plush. Caught you on a plush day. Was watching to learn. Nice auctions.
@DavidGutierrez-kj8tm I love that! Sounds like a great variety of items to bring which will give you an opportunity to gain a bigger audience when you sell in different categories. Welcome to Whatnot and I will bookmark your show tomorrow and try to pop in!
Do we need to put to the listings all your item That you like to sell ? Or its ok if some are not listed yet a s just show it live to the buyer? Please help Thanks for answers in advance
Great question, yes you can do a mix or list everything individually if you would like. Some sellers do like to take individual pictures and make individual listings with prices of every book, and some sellers don't make any listings and just show all the books they have or items they have to sell and people just pick and choose what they want and then the seller can make a listing from there. That is sort of what I do, I have pictures of all the books on my shelves listed so people can browse what I have, but I'm showing books in the camera as well that have not been shown already and people can pick from that selection. What I typically do then is make a bundle and whenever the person's ready to cash out I will cash their pile out as a bundle by making a single listing with all their books
Hello, shipping is handled through a dashboard on Whatnot. It will populate all of your orders, and you will make any modifications to weight or size and then print the label through the dashboard.
Hello, prebids are automatically available in listing available in an auction. When someone is browsing your store inside of a show, the option to prebid will be there, you don't have to turn it on
Yep exactly! You can toggle the private show option and when you go live it will not appear on the app for others to see and unless you share the link with anyone else, it will just be you. This is great for getting comfortable with the setup of the buttons and the screen

If that's what it looks like, then what I see some people do to go around that is to list the numbers with zeros in front, so listing it like 001, 002, 003, so on and so forth. If you'd like to drop your whatnot username I can definitely take a look and see if I'm seeing something different on my end 😊
How do you do the number system when going live . I see people pull random stuff without showing what it is
@@resellmaven Thank you.
Oh wow. You have a channel? Cool!
Hey, yes I do lol
Do we need to put to the listings all your item
That you like to sell ? Or its ok if some are not listed yet a s just show it live to the buyer?
Please help
Thanks for answers in advance
I just saw a video saying how you need a auctioneer license in certain states. Is this true?
Hello, if you are running an in person live auction, maybe, but you do not need any licenses to sell on Whatnot
How about the shipping when the item is sold.. do they email it to you so you print it and ship to tje address of
Customer?
Hello, shipping is handled through a dashboard on Whatnot. It will populate all of your orders, and you will make any modifications to weight or size and then print the label through the dashboard.
How do you turn on pre-bidding on items listed on a scheduled auction ?
Hello, prebids are automatically available in listing available in an auction. When someone is browsing your store inside of a show, the option to prebid will be there, you don't have to turn it on
@@resellmaven thank you so much ! Support emailed me mentioning if seller turned it on but I found out it’s on my auction 😊
Wait, so doing a "private show" is basically doing a practice show to familiarize yourself with how to do a show?
Yep exactly! You can toggle the private show option and when you go live it will not appear on the app for others to see and unless you share the link with anyone else, it will just be you. This is great for getting comfortable with the setup of the buttons and the screen
it would be very cool and helpful if you were to show a real show on how to do the sudden death auctions and how to keep track more of who bought what
Hey, yeah my goal is 2 videos from now to show me doing a show from start to finish and the details in between. I will definitely cover those topics then!
@@resellmaven omg thats gonna be awesome 🙏🏻
Coming out today!
Dime
Not me just now learning how to repeat shows 😅

Glad to be able to teach you something 🤣
