    As a newbie myself I find everything I learn in ML to be invaluable. I joined the group and everyone is very helpful and I'm learning more about the camera everyday. Been working on low light settings and reducing noise and it's going great. Just upgraded to the recommendef SD card and saw an immediate uptick in performance.

      That's fantastic. Such a great bunch over there 🙌🏾
      Shooting in low light is a skill that'll last you forever and a lot of people hide from that.
      So glad you're getting on well with it though, it's good.

    Much love to ya and the community man! I tried ML one time and was sold on just the abilities available. Did I get good footage? Hell no! But, I know that's my own limitations of knowledge. I am so excited to finish my M-Lite build. I plan to use two EOS Ms to record my daughter's videos for her YT channel. I've used tons of cameras and nothing compares to the quality for the money. Thank you for everything you do and I'm sorry that people have been sending out bad vibes.

    Totally agree with you, Cole. On my first day with crop mood I almost gave up on the eos m (again). Turned out I didn't know what I was doing (thanks for the crop mood settings-video😅 shoutout to Bilal). I have had several shoots since then, and the footage looks great, live view works, no moire in most modes and no pink frames anymore. I'm a happy man!!

    Cole awesome video, I agree 100% with your points there are going to be pros and cons using ML. However, if you just take the time to learn, put in some work and most importantly, use your camera with ML you will be able to produce some rather incredible footage given the price point. I'm hoping to use what I learn in the group and over the summer just experimenting to film a family event in the UK come Fall with my EOS-M. Thank you for your videos and sharing your knowledge in the group, it's greatly appreciated!

    Kudos to your brother, really respect your efforts. For past 3 years was simply investing in cameras and gears and didn’t use it properly obviously no results. However the moment I got the magic lantern wow!. It is indeed magic! It pushed me to use the settings to record and I was learning each and every degree of turns.
    I didn’t know there was this many settings actually this EOS-M have?, which just blew my mind to infinity madness (Dual ISO - madness to core). I’ve been trying different video setting for every other video to learn thru the changes. Simply I got to admit and give a great respect to ML developer. Who gave us the power of RAW video into a pocket camera.
    Ignore the others, will only support the one who embrace the RAW.

    Great explanations, perfect examples, good talk 👏🏼 Respect. I've been thinking of the EOS M thanks to ML and I've thought of pairing it alongside my M50 and GoPro Hero 10. I have a feeling like its value is incredible, and all the work people have put into producing ML is invaluable itself.
    There's something fun about getting out there and experiencing, and that fictionality at that price point is a learning curve worth the investment.
    Thanks for the video, it was really nice 😁

    • @AltCine
      @AltCine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you so much. I think you're a perfect candidate for the m and a dive into raw video as you have "normal" cams already. It would be great alongside your M50 and if you have any trouble with M50 high dynamic range scenes you can bring a lot of information back with the Eos-M. Definitely give it a try 🙌🏾

    I just discovered you while looking for ML info for my eos 6d
    That little eos M - and the short video from asia - so much possibility!

    Preach! After spending too much time going back and forth on YT and FB, I realized that most owners of expensive cameras are not real life directors or DP, but the TH-camrs, and most of are not doing much, if not nothing with it, excepted calling themselves cinematographer.

    "Más claro el agua..." Here at the first step of the learning curve. It was one of your vids indeed that convinced me to go with ML. I feel rarher comfortable now shooting with drones and Gopros but I felt I needed to combine that with some handheld camera that wouldn't break my bank account. I will even use it on regular drones hopefully. And for around the price of a basic blackmagic setup I now own two cameras and a variety of lenses and stuff I will need. I just need to learn how to use all of it properly 😅

    I co-sign this completely. I think people don't understand not all projects are the same! even if you have professional cameras you won't use the same for every project, this is why most DOPs prefer to rent camera bodies. back in the day circa 2017+ I used to shoot paid music videos with the old Magic Lantern on my 5D Mark III. and I still miss that particular look even having edited footage from cameras a thousand times more expensive. also fiddling with your camera is fun, discovering a new feature for ML is exciting & people have no appreciation of how miraculous it is that a camera smaller than the palm of your hands can churn out RAW video

I'll get back into the ML forums, and I'm curious what you think about using ML with the intention of converting it to monochrome. I really love the black and chrome version of Mad Max Fury Road and planning to test using ML to capture broad dynamic range with the intention of converting it to monochrome. Is it just me or is Crop Mood finicky? I'm almost more comfortable on the old regular build- it seems more stable to me. Crop Mood 1080p is all zoomed in when I'm used to it being the least cropped in, but with more aliasing on Dannes build. And a lot of resolutions tell me I'll get 0 frames of recording on an 128gb/200mbs SD Sandisk. I installed Crop Mood onto an EOS M that previously had ML on it on a different SD card. I don't guess that caused my Crop Mood to get all buggy. Hopefully I'm not the only one. But everyone else is acting like it's a smoother experience. Please tell me I'm doing something wrong.Yikes.

    • @AltCine
      @AltCine  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would start from scratch. Install crop mood again but let the timer run out to remove bootflag. Reset camera to factory settings and deep low format card.
      Run the installation again.
      When I first tried crop mood it acted a lot like you described and I honestly don't know if all those steps are necessary but they definitely worked for me.

    I recently purchased a C-Mount zoom lens, and tried a 3x crop with 1080p mode. However, the record button doesn’t work. I thought something wrong with the camera and powered down and on again. Still the same record button doesn’t work issue.
    But when I change to Canon 50mm f/1.8 in 3x corp with 1080p mode then the record button works. Ah it worked I thought.
    Again once I change back to the C-Mount zoom lens, surprisingly still the record button doesn’t function at all. Feeling quite strange to understand how come for a normal lens the 3x is working and not for C-Mount zoom lens.

    I installed ML to my m50, i'm using firmware 2.0.2, but I'm not able to access the ML menu once it's installed.
    I followed the instruction on how to install ML using the firmware update, restarted the camera when prompted, and was greeted with no change.
    When I hit the menu button, it just shows the default canon menu. Pretty much everything is just the regular canon menu/ui except for when I hit the info button a few times, then it shows the ML overlay. I'm not able to control the overlay in video mode. In photo mode, I'm only able to cycle between iris and ISO using the dpad.
    TLDR, ML didn't install right, I can see the overlay but can't really control anything. Unable to access ML menu.

    But this is rare. Like very rare. Usually if something is not right you'll have error messages all over the screen. You can't miss it. I've shot like 2tb of footage in the past 6 months and can't recall ever having this issue.
    For context the stock camera firmware will give you 30mbps footage that is soft and extremely hard to grade, how the fuck is that anymore professional? Give me any camera under 1500 bucks and the eos m, I'll choose the eos m, 9 times out of 10 because I know how to work with it.

    Those comments are only coming from people that believe a camera they are using out of the box will give them the cinematic look and then they are upset when they realize it is not how it works.
    Be open to new or different things. Back in the days I shot with the Canon XL1s and tried things out or I bought a super 35mm adapter to make Canon fd lenses work on my Canon HV30. I also used ML with the Canon 550d for commercial work and some features were so helpful like the double exposure etc.
    I also think that people should watch more content from guys like Nigel Barros or D4Darius. Because they are using quiet old cams like lumix gh3 or gh4 and creating some amazing stuff. I think they should also watch your content as well because I believe you are a very smart person and I'm really looking forward to your projects like the m-lite.
