Never mind Iconica, what's most impressive here is Dom's ability to make orchestral instruments sound great played live. Dom you're a class act, and a cut above the rest.
In the early 80s I taught the Yamaha Electone Course and sold Yamaha organs. I had a musical awakening when I realized the best way to demonstrate the sounds on the organs was to play in the range and manner of the real instruments. You my friend, know that in your soul. This is an amazing presentation of what these instruments can do. Thank you.
We only heard about Beethoven and other great musicians...But now we all watching and listening a legend in making Mr.Dom Sigalas! Alas, what a talent. God Bless you with tons of good things❤
I agree: this library doesn't feel cheap or like a cut down version... It really sounds great! ;And Dom you "rock" at showing us the power of it! Thanks and have a good day! 🙂
The sounds are impressive, great presentation Dom! Iconica Opus covers much more that Iconica Sketch provides but to get this included in Cubase is crazy!
It sounds great and a really good thing for people to get included with Cubase. I suspect it's good for Steinberg to include it too as they'll probably get a lot more sales of the big Iconica library as a result of people upgrading now they're paying attention to it rather than going straight to one of the big names in orchestral libraries.
A lot of the reason it sounds good is that your are a great keyboard player and musician and know how to play great phrases with a lot of emotion and intention. Bravo
Hey Dom! I love the arrangements you do! Could you maybe at some point make a tutorial for mixing great orchestras? Especially how to mix romantic pieces like the soundtrack from Joe Black❤ There are many tutorials how to mix orchestras, but there are barely ones for gentle orchestrations
sounds amazing for built in. Definitely something I might use to pre-sketch out before going down the tweaking rabbit-hole of something like BBCSO - though some of those sounds are actually better for specific moments, like the brass rasp.
Fabulous demo Dom. Iconica Sketch is worth its weight in gold and it is free in CB 13! One could spend upwards of £400 getting something similar. This is the reason I will be upgrading to Cubase 13 Pro very shortly.
This just pop in my feed. As a wanna be musician and composer your channel fits my needs. Love your video editing and production style. You made it interesting and fun to joy while am learning at the same time. So I subscribed to your channel and will continue to watch and learn on music recordings and productions. Aloha from Hawaii 🌺🌺🌺
Thanks for driving me mad for 5 minutes, couldn't remember where I had heard that theme before, then suddenly I remembered. It is the theme from The Crown - Hans Zimmer.
This is amazing! I'm working on a string arrangement in Cubase with the onboard Halion samples, and I am so psyched about what this can do. Might be switching soon.
If your looking for huge library of sounds and decent instruments from piano to orchestra. It’s on sale for 50 bucks US. Sample tank XL4. It does the trick and for the price is unbeatable.
Wow! I knew you were a schooled musician from other videos but this takes you to another level. The software is great but you really show it''s true potential. I kind of feel dumb for spending money on other libraries that I hardly use and this is possible with the new update to Cubase 13. Bless you Dom. Keep up the good work.😊 🎷🙋
I must say Dom, last year or so....your video showcasing Iconica Ensembles in a pop production inspired me so much I bought that package IMMEDIATELY. Great video, so huge thanks for that. I'll deffo wil be upgrading to C13 next week, so 'Sketch' will be very useful indeed for quick ideas. Dom/Steinberg, you truly spoil us with these goodies
@DomSigalas - I am a Loyal Cubase 12 Pro user. My question is; why do you think Cubase is not spoke about more in the recording industry like FL Studio or Pro Tools is? Personally, I think Cubase has more to offer and is a bit more in depth than other DAW's.
It is spoken about and used everywhere It’s one of the biggest ones. Fl is easily cracked so everyone uses it and it feels like people talk about it more. It’s just that it’s cracked and it’s just perception
FL was most beat makers first DAW followed by protocols because of the whole industry standard thing. It seemed like every audio interface came with Ableton live lite so everyone knew about it. I've never seen a cubase lite or demo included with anything so nobody even knows about it
@mikeillgaming4224 I think it was Cubase LE that came with Line 6 Spider amps (at least a few years ago it did.) I bought some other gear that had it too, but can't remember what they were as I didn't pay much attention --- by then I already had Cubase Pro. Maybe it was my Yamaha MX49? 🤔 I would imagine a lot of Steinberg interfaces and Yamaha gear would have at least a trial version bundled with it.
Steinberg make good instruments and effects when they create from scratch without taking inspiration from elsewhere, plugins like ICONICA Sketch, vocalchain, vocoder, voxcomp and blacvalve are very good in my opinion. They must make Cubase different from the rest of the DAWs, have a unique personality and always improve it. If Cubase will remain similar to other daws on the market, it will lose popularity along the way and then users, Steinberg must understand that their ideas are better than those of other producers.
Dom, I enjoy your demonstration videos very much! They are all done great, with such beautiful expression and emotion, and you are such a talented and versatile musician. I wonder and would like to know, what kind of formal education in the music field you have? Did you study? If so, where? Did you study one or more particular instruments?
Excellent playing and demonstration of the sounds! Especially impressed by the flutes, horns, and those celli. My one wish is that orchestra sounds like these had a way to lessen the room sound/reverb. They're incredible for everything big and epic but often when getting them to gel with real miced instruments the reverb is too much. I end up trying to use an envelope shaper or other tools to try and lessen the falloff a bit, but that can only do so much.
Hi Dom. I was really impressed with the sounds that you were getting out of this orchestra. However; I would like to know what is the name of the volume controller that you were using with your left hand for the violins and the rest of the string instruments? Can you give me some idea of the cost of those controllers? I have never used one of those before. I am not even sure if I am giving it the correct name but, it seems like you are controlling the dynamics of the string instruments with your left hand. I would appreciate you talking about that (gadget, controller or what ever it is called). I absolutely loved how you used it with this orchestra. You made it sound so realistic. As usual you make all of your videos so special and I love your enthusiasm when you are sharing your knowledge with all of the instruments and plug-ins you introduced to us. Thank you for sharing. Also as usual I wish you continued success with all of your music videos and your endeavors in the music business and I wish you continue success financially as well. Have a wonderful day & week.
Great video. I have seen some videos showing iconica sketch having only two dynamic layers with legatos, but it looks like the legato patches have several dynamic layers. Is this a recent update?
Hey Dom, what brand or setup is that extra monitor on your right? I was interested in getting something like that years ago to help with seeing various things, let me know, thanks!
I love that I bought Iconica last year, only to have this released this year... Yeah the full version has a lot more, but this seems to have most of what I needed 😭
DOM, I love this very much. What is that small screen on your desk really displaying. Hard to see it. Is the a way to get Moog sounds like the that sub 37 without actually buying one? I appreciate your videos as always.
Dom - I notice all your videos lately have the SSL UF8, rather than the Console 1 fader. What made you change your mind? Your review of both made it pretty clear that the Console 1 Fader was better suited to Cubase?
I have it next to my CC121 in the second room :) I am eagerly waiting for the new fader controller from Softube though. The SSL’s faders are great but I hope they had a midi remote script for Cubase to make it a bit more integrated. It’s still a big controller for not having full integration.
Hello Dom! You have a ton of great videos on Cubase. Thank you for sharing all that knowledge and passion. Have you ever thought about putting together a complete beginner through advanced Cubase downloadable video series outside of TH-cam and selling it. I would buy it and I bet many others would. I would love a video that shows how to create different types of templates. Especially an orchestral one. I own a copy of Cubase Pro 12 and want to upgrade to 13 but truth be told I haven’t opened Cubase Pro 12 that much because it’s intimidating to me and I don’t know where to start.

Hi Dom. This video was amazing. Does Steinberg have a free orchestral template for Iconica Sketch? Plus I watched a video recently about the Cubase chord explosion, by Andrew Blake. Mr. Blake introduced me to the Cubase chord explosion technique in which I didn’t even know that existed in Cubase. I was wondering if a Cubase orchestral template for Iconica sketch, if one exists, could be used with the Cubase chord explosion technique, and how that would work? Could that be done? If so, please give me your opinion on this issue? I would welcome any opinions you might have on this issue. Have a wonderful day and week.
Makes me wonder if it would be useful to map the aftertouch to the same CC as the modulation wheel. Then you get get swells without taking your hands off the keyboard. I'll have to try it and see if it is workable. But first I'll have to get the Cubase 13 upgrade!
Hi, this library is just for the people who uses cubase 13th or you can download freely as vst instruments and use it in a notation program, I have cubase artist 6 or 7, but I never use it, because I don't work on MIDI. By the way congratulations for the video.

Hi Dom. One more question. When I upgrade to Cubase 13 I am understanding that Iconica Sketch is included in the upgrade to Cubase 13 but, do I also have to learn how to install Iconica separately from the upgrade? Please explain this to me. I am not sure if I understanding the inclusion of Iconica and the installation part of it. Hi Dom, how do I configure Cubase 13 to return to start position when I stop the playback or recording using the space bar? It's urgent
This sounds a bit y synthy but it’s not bad! You have a wonderful channel 🎉bravo
4.66 GB..That's enough to compose soundtrack of a movie...
what a master , wow
Great video as always! How are you getting the white edge on the left side of the selected tracks tho? I've been trying to figure that out for hours but just can't figure it out.
Can you give me a timestamp in the video so that I understand what you mean? :)
@@DomSigalas like at 2:09…. The white off to the side of the red sketch track thats selected. I’ve noticed it in a few of your other videos too.
can i get it with my cubase 11 or is it exclusive to 13?
@9'18 the theme reminds me of "The Crown" theme by Hans Zimmer
It is!
Noticed it right away. Just watched the new episodes. Sounded good! Definitely considering to upgrade from 12 Pro just because of this library.
I was hoping that when I upgrade to Cubase 13 the Iconica Sketch would be installed automatically.
Everything is installed using the Steinberg Download Asisstant. Just hit download on the Iconica sketch entry and you’re god to go :)
Thank you so much Dom. I really appreciate how you help so many of us around the world. May God continue to bless you in all that you do.
