I just got mine done for the second time. Its amazing to live without tension and knots. I no longer beg my husband for massages every night :) My insurance covers it!

Hi, what type of practitioner would give Botox in this area?

Omg please tell me how you got insurance to cover it? I've had shoulder neck and jaw tension forever, I'm getting jaw Botox tomorrow but I'd love to try my trap muscles but I feel like I could never afford it. 😢

Would love to know what steps you took to get it covered! I have sooo much tension in my traps, especially left one, to the point of headaches and more

That’s so cool! It didn’t realize you can use Botox on your neck. Although it makes sense! Looking forward to seeing your results!❤️

My BF gets horrible cervogenic headaches. He does PT & Chiro - only provides temporary relief. We need to look into this.

I had to wait years to get this treatment in Rhode Island and it wasn’t for tension I have some much more serious diagnosis. Crazy that people just get it done like nothing. It wasn’t even approved til just recently in R.I. I just got it in my pecs too. I suffer greatly just got it done today I hope it works.. I yearn to not feel trapped in my body. I have NF1 and I have muscle weakness and pain. It was covered by insurance.

I didn’t realize that botox could help with so much! I get horrible tension headaches from holding all my stress in my traps and from TMJ. I recently found out botox could help with both. Definitely considering doing this, do you know if insurance might cover any of it?

Are there any common side effects and how long does the botox last?✨

I got botox in my traps and now I have a really heavy head. I find it exhausting to hold my head up now. It is the most uncomfortable feeling I have experienced. Has anyone ever experienced this? Is there anything I can do for it?

I made an account just to respond to you - Botox in the neck and or traps can sometimes contribute to cervical instability which can cause real damage and longer term pain. These muscles are needed to support the spine, nerves and head. Google “cervical instability Botox” and there should be a TH-cam video by “caring medical” that talks about this more. You need to be assessed by a specialist now to be safe. Sometimes people end up in a neck brace for awhile.
I hate the look of my imbalanced traps too, and usually I have no patience and impulsively jump to quick aesthetic fixes, but have been burned too many times to play with fire again. I’m taking the long route this time with stretching and strength training. A physiotherapist can help.
Be careful with this stuff folks!

@@L-to6dl the neck and spine is definitely not held by your trap muscles at all… and the nerves also have nothing to do with this.. what exactly are you talking about? also having big over active traps is also not healthy and more painful than good..

Thank you so much for this video - I had no idea that this was a thing and I desperately need to do it (for tension and aesthetics purposes)! Could you give a ballpark for how much you charge for the procedure? I’m in south OC so I’d love to come to your office.

You’re so welcome! I actually just discovered it too!! A patient who is a weightlifter came in asking for it. She wanted a more feminine shoulder line and more targeted back work outs. I treated her and she loved her results! I carry a lot of tension in my traps from holding lasers all day and injecting so I tried it and it’s been a game changer for me!! :)

Typically $300-600 but depends of how strong the muscle is. Results last 3-6 mo 😊

Hi Dr. Kappel. I am kind of internally freaking out. I have an appointment for tear trough filler next week, but I just watched a video by a plastic surgeon who showed a woman discussing festoons under her eyes that developed 12-18 months after her tear trough filler. I would hate to add what looks like bags to my already hollow eyes 😳 Does this happen to everyone who gets it done, or someone with a particular face shape, etc? I’m wondering how I can make sure that doesn’t happen to me, even if that means skipping the tear trough filler 😕

I had this done for 3 years by my neurologist. I regret it. I’m now so weak in my arms - particularly to lift, that I can’t even play volleyball (overhand serve, setting), lift weights, and it’s even hard to put on eyeliner. I never want to do this again. I just want to build my muscles again since they clearly have muscle atrophy.

    • @lisamarie8005

Oh no! Maybe it was injected wrong, too deep? It isnt supposed to affect the arms at all

Dr. Kappel, do you inject botox into the calves to make them smaller?
