I think it boils down to what you want to spend your money on. Do you want to spend $2000 or $3000 dollars for something that could potentially last just 6 months or, on average 1 year (I got those numbers from this video). It's a No for me but that doesn't mean it's not the right decision for others. All any physician can do is offer their opinion based on their experience and expertise, the ultimate decision is yours because only you know what you are comfortable with.
@happymouse442 you might want to read her doctor reviews. Almost Everyone loves her, except the ones who don't like the way she looks. Come on. She's clearly a complex highly unique individual.
I’m 68 and I had a few rounds of sculptra and it did help with volume but decided to get threads , I’m still in recovery stage ( two days) I can see good results, I’m a little swollen but I think it will look good once I’m healed, I’ve stopped using fillers as I think it can look unnatural, I use daxxify every six months as well , it all seems to work for me Thank you for all the information you give out , it’s really appreciated 🙏🏻🌺
No more threads for me. I had numerous times. They caused a HORRIBLE infection in my cheek. My permanent cheek implant eventually dislodged and cut through the inside of my mouth. I had to pay $2k to a plastic surgeon to get it removed. I now have to fix all the damage for another $4K. For what it’s worth - I had NOVA in the past. The Silhouette caused all the problems.
I’ve been following you for a while and I can see the results. Thank you for honesty saying you’ve done it. It is really helpful and gives hope for those of us who are not considering surgery, but do want a lifted look.

I just discovered your channel because i was trying to look into a fraxel laser before my wedding… and will now be exploring the wealth of your content non-stop and giving your office a call most likely :) Thank you!
I have gotten PDO, PLLA and PCL threads done to my face, neck lines and the back of my hands. I do see a bit more volume after 6 months. They don’t have an instant volume like a filler, so it’s like a Sculptra and takes time to see a difference. The cog threads were painful after the procedure, and I unfortunately snapped all four PLLA threads by smashing my face into my pillow in my deep sleep a month later.😂 If you are a side or stomach sleeper, train yourself to sleep flat on your back. I don’t have the lifting effect but the threads take a year to dissolve and therefore getting collagen building benefits despite snapping them.
Nose threads are a game changer for thicker, ethnic skin, especially for adding a bridge and nose tip lift, it's amazing and adding filler tops it off !

I absolutely LOVE threads! I’ve had amazing results. This is definitely a procedure you want an absolute professional doing! All the nightmares out there are from people who should NEVER be performing this procedure.
Of course!! When done correctly by a highly trained provider it can be an incredible treatment with amazing results. But if performed by an unqualified or unlicensed provider, it can be a disaster.

Love your videos! Can you please do a video on how best to prepare for nonsurgical treatments such as lasers, botox and fillers to minimize bruising as well as the best ways to recover to minimize downtime? Thank you!
yes of course! mainly dropping things that can thin through blood making u more prone to bruising like supplements (fish oil, flax seed oil, etc) as well as advil, aspirin, etc. will help prevent bruising. Arnica tea helps. prepping you skin before and after laser with. appropriate actives based on what laser bs device you’re having too can maximize your response etc
Thanks for your videos! Can you do a segment on permanent makeup, hair/eyelash extensions etc. I haven't seen much from an physician/derm perspective on this!
Yes I would be happy to. I may be one of very few dermatologists who wear hair and lash extensions as well as permanent eyeliner tattoo. But it really saves me time balancing work with my busy kiddos! Mama needs to save time in the mornings lol
Great and informative video Dr. Stefani! You seem quite knowledgeable about PDO threading and in general. This is something I've been looking into. My questions for you are: (1) How many times can someone redo this procedure and will it deplete/ damage the tissues in the subcutaneous layer of the skin (where the threads are being placed/ implanted) if done on a recurring basis? (2) Is there an experienced Derm/ Dr (such as yourself) you can possibly recommend in NYC? Keep up the great work and I look forward to your response! Thanks in advance!

There's an injector here in Miami that is doing very aggressive thread lifts, using 30+ thread. The results are unbelievable, however, I'm skeptical if it's safe. What are your thoughts on using so many threads?
They dissolve and create collagen. Once you learn about threads and how to insert them placing 30 is really not that "aggressive" They are usually packaged 2 pck of 10 threads (total 20). Depending upon skin type or laxity, one or two "basic" smooth threads will do some good, but more threads IS better. OR the person can just get Sculptra.
I'm 71 and very thin and over the past 8 years I've done almost every stimulatory treatment you can think of and i apparently do not generate collagen, (at least not much). Doctors have actually agreed. Ultherapy, RF, smooth and barbed threads, Sculptra, EZ gel, 1540 laser, mild CO2 laser. The only thing that had some result was 8 vials of Sculptra over 6 month period. My goal was not to have filler or botox or very ablative laser. But, it looks like they are the only things that are going to give some volume and smoothness to my face. And my neck is a lost cause. I know i need a face and neck lift, but i don't think it's in the cards.
ty for this, very interesting. wouldnt trust anyone but you or someone you recommend! ty for telling us you have them, but first doing thermage, then threads. Dr, you look so fabulous! love your videos, sorry so late. Good day, Luv frm Li Ps...three of your products i have tried so far, are so insanely fabulous, I am shooketh! ❤x
Something I wonder if you will cover in a video. What can be done about contour variations and anomalies in the cheeks from old filler that doesn't seem to fully go away?
Thank you so much for another great video Stefani!! May I please ask what your thoughts are on PLLA threads like Silhouette Soft? My doctor said they are better at collagen stimulation than PDO threads and are also meant to last longer? Thanks! 😊
My plastic surgeon was adamantly opposed to a thread lift; she refused to do them but this was two years ago. I have to say that I'm a bit skeptical myself.
can you do consult on the phone and then make appt. for out of state people? Since October I've had Fraxel, Ellacore x 2, 1 vial of Scultpra and just did Skinvive and still have lower face laxity and lip lines. Is there such a thing as a non responder? I'm 54 and thin and petite, my GYN took me off BCP last year. I do Crossfit 5-6 times a week. Botox/Dysport also goes thru my forehead in like 2 mos. I would love to get your opinion and have you do another Ellacore and thread lifts. I also think my provider was very new at Ellacore and wasn't that aggressive the first time, I think I had more results the 2nd time. My daughter lives in LA so could re-coop there.
@midlifemom5829 I had it done in 2021 for my neck and lower face. It’s hard to tell as I’m still seeing the results from the threads (especially on my neck) but I’ve done lots of other things too live fraxel, thermage, pictoning, etc. Now that I’m older, I shy away from fillers but I’ve had to up the amount of lasers and tightening devices that I do. Threads definitely helped tho.
Thank you for explaining in great detail. Regarding thermage- is it true this can melt fat (immediately or eventually) in treatment area, creating less fullness?
Stefani, I know that you have done videos on your diet before but I would love a more in-depth video! I feel like I want to ask you so many questions and I don’t need to follow your diet specifically but for example I know you avoid dairy but why? Do you ever enjoy sugar at all? What specific type of protein powder do you recommend? :-) also will threads get rid of my very mild nasal labial folds? You are amazing and thank you again you are very love. :-)
Yes, I recently did a video on my diet. I eat pretty clean and have to meal prep. I also have a trainer who keeps me in check lol. I am a very regimented person and if I fall off of my schedule, I feel uncomfortable lol. I love Truvani protein powder and try to limit my sugar. I'm simply not a fan of dairy, just because I have never been a fan of cheese, milk or most dairy products with the exception of yogurt. No enzymatic issue with it, just personal preference. I usually eat Fage 0% with berries and sliced almonds in the morning.
Love all your learning videos !! Doctor regarding the co2 laser for eyes, do it every year? Long recovery? Does it firm too? I’m having a fraxel in September but thinking of doing the co2 on the eyes and neck October. Thank you!!! ❤❤
I just started doing CO2 on my eyes fairly recently. I usually did non-ablative Fraxel under my eyes in my twenties. Now that I'm older I wanted something a little stronger. I do it once a year for now but well see.
It’s not available in the US yet so I cannot speak on it from personal use. But it’s used widely in Europe and Asia with positive feedback among the medical community from what I’ve heard. Anyone else who can comment here?
@@DrStefaniKappel …Thank You for making time for my question. It is really appreciated. I didn’t realize it has yet to make its debut in the States. Have a great day💐
Thank you for the information, Doc! Do most available threads stimulate collagen, or is that for a new variety? Separate thought, it really is amazing how much difference of provider can make. I never knew how little pain could be involved with a Botox lip flip until I met my newest injector. Incredible the difference.
Yes, often times when a treatment. "doesn't work" or gives complications, it is because of the provider, not the treatment itself. Most threads today are all biostimulatory to some extent
We are seeing this with a lot of my patients on Semaglutide products these days. Depending on the area, Thermage and Ellacore are my favorite treatments for the loose skin.
WHERE did that young lady get her stunning results with those revolutionary new threads? I would walk through burning coals to get the name of the office she went to 😅🙏💙
Commonly, plastic surgeons who perform vertcal lifts advise these types of lifts are not as effective nor anatomically correct because it's more of a horizontal pull/lift vs a vertical lift. Naturally/essentially, the skin is sagging downward, assisted by gravity, not sideways or horizontally@ an angle🤷🏽♀️(which make sense), but thread lifts seem to be effective enough if performed properly on mild to moderately laxity with continued maintenance. The new technique sounds closer to a vertical lift👌🏽
Hi Dr Kappel, where do you suggest we get proper training for threading? Do you suggest contact the manufacturer or look for hands-classes? Thank you! Jill, Winder GA
Hi Stefani, can you make a video about what lights damage the skin? I remember you saying that fluorescent lights do, are there lights that don’t? Or ones that do the least damage? Also are facials worth it, such as oxygen, hydrafacial?
I think regular facials are worth it :) Oxygen infusion and hydrafacial :) Fluorescent lights can break down collagen and cause inflammation (wear sunscreen at the gym even at nite for this reason) Incandescent lights are better for the skin but harder to find now days :( not as energy efficient
@@DrStefaniKappel oh no. i just renovated my room and bathroom and we did fluorescent pot lights!!!!! aside from that i always prefer incandescent lighting because it makes my skin look better lol
You don’t feel it at all??? Why would you say that??? The pain was beyond. A little swelling???Come on!! My results are starting to look good week 6 but I was disfigured and completely bruised, swollen and in agony. Went to top doctor for this. It hurts a lot.
Thank you for very informative video, doctor ! I was choosing between PDO threads and Radiesse and chose last one. Probably I’ve should choosing threads. After 2 month I’m still not happy with my double chin and want to try kybella. Will it make radiesse disappear (or useless) at this area? Thank you!
I do my own threads! I think it helps big time.. and only costs me about 100 every 5 months.. but last year I did plla cogs but they haven't dissolved yet, is that normal?
Can anyone make any recommendations for providers in Cleveland, Ohio? Specifically for thermage or maybe even threads, I'm pretty intrigued. And I'm one of those people who had so many other TH-camrs tell me they're not worth it because they do only last 6 months.
I wish I knew someone out there who I could recommend. It is good to know that they don't last that long tho- that is true. Although the biostimulatory effect lasts longer.
Honestly, festoons are too high up on the cheeks for threads to be the best treatment. I'd go with a tightening device instead to target the mis face. Threads are better for jowels, neck laxity, things that are lower on the face/neck than festoons. Does that make sense?
I was watching your video on Thermage, and you mentioned it's not supposed to hurt. Is there a sensation of warmth or you shouldn't feel anything at all?
I’d like to try thermage before getting threads, but I’ve heard that thermage can reduce facial fat. Is this true? Or is it performed on specific areas of the face where facial fat loss is warranted? (nasal labial folds etc)
I never know what to believe anymore. So many people (physicians) on YT differ so much in opinion. Many say threads are trash!
Many surgeons try to fear monger non-surgical treatments because they want u to have surgery.
Many derms promote treatments now because they are sponsored. Especially the ones with big youtube channels. Many make a living by sponsored content and don’t even see patients. if i look at their instagram there are zero patient treatment photos or reels.

I'm simply not a fan of dairy, just because I have never been a fan of cheese, milk or most dairy products with the exception of yogurt. No enzymatic issue with it, just personal preference. I usually eat Fage 0% with berries and sliced almonds in the morning.
Depending on the NLF severity, Threads would most likely help by pulling up on the skin, making them less heavy.
Great video, thanks. does anyone know what qualifications we should be looking for in someone doing our threadlifts?
I’ve watched surgeons cut right through scar tissue. The instruments are pretty sharp.
do you have anything for underarm skin improvement/ lightening?
Thank you for your transparency! Can I ask if you recommend Sculptra for mid /late forties? Thanks in advance! 🙏
Yes I am big fan of Sculptra, especially in your forties!
What is your opinion on ELLANSE? Thank You 🙏🏻
It’s not available in the US yet so I cannot speak on it from personal use. But it’s used widely in Europe and Asia with positive feedback among the medical community from what I’ve heard. Anyone else who can comment here?
@@DrStefaniKappel …Thank You for making time for my question. It is really appreciated. I didn’t realize it has yet to make its debut in the States. Have a great day💐
Dr., what do you think of Tixel?
Thanks doc, that was great info ❤
Thank you for the information, Doc! Do most available threads stimulate collagen, or is that for a new variety?
Separate thought, it really is amazing how much difference of provider can make. I never knew how little pain could be involved with a Botox lip flip until I met my newest injector. Incredible the difference.
Yes, often times when a treatment. "doesn't work" or gives complications, it is because of the provider, not the treatment itself.
Most threads today are all biostimulatory to some extent
Wonderful explanation doc
So threads vs filler to lift upper face area? Minimal lift needed for me
Is there a generally preferred solution for laxity from weight loss that kind of covers a large area? My guess would be thermage....
We are seeing this with a lot of my patients on Semaglutide products these days. Depending on the area, Thermage and Ellacore are my favorite treatments for the loose skin.
Thank you dr Stephanie ❤
WHERE did that young lady get her stunning results with those revolutionary new threads? I would walk through burning coals to get the name of the office she went to 😅🙏💙
Those results were a patient from my office :)
The new technique sounds closer to a vertical lift👌🏽
is the PDO threads being injected into the fat? if so, that's not what needs collagen stimulation, correct?
I love your content! One question, Do risk melting the threads with lasers like fraxel?
Thank you Dr Kappel
Hi Dr Kappel, where do you suggest we get proper training for threading? Do you suggest contact the manufacturer or look for hands-classes? Thank you! Jill, Winder GA
Hi Stefani, can you make a video about what lights damage the skin? I remember you saying that fluorescent lights do, are there lights that don’t? Or ones that do the least damage?
Also are facials worth it, such as oxygen, hydrafacial?
I think regular facials are worth it :) Oxygen infusion and hydrafacial :)
Fluorescent lights can break down collagen and cause inflammation (wear sunscreen at the gym even at nite for this reason) Incandescent lights are better for the skin but harder to find now days :( not as energy efficient
@@DrStefaniKappel oh no. i just renovated my room and bathroom and we did fluorescent pot lights!!!!! aside from that i always prefer incandescent lighting because it makes my skin look better lol
❤can i get your pricing on the lifting threads and also ...on Thermage treatment please ?
Call me office in Newport and we would be happy to go over pricing with you
Thank you doctor!
Afyer How many years we need to do again?
Would threads work for thighs? I feel like my cellulite wouldn’t show so much if my skin had a little lift
Thank you for the information. Can you recommend any thread lift providers in the New Orleans/Metairie, Louisiana area please?
What about this new procedure called MyEllevate? It seems to be more effective than regular threads.
It’s considered surgery still and also involves energy based devises so a little different
can you only get the lifting effect with barbed threads?
I have heard that these threads develop scar tissue around the area and sometimes doesn't always have a smoothing effect when pulling?
You don’t feel it at all??? Why would you say that??? The pain was beyond. A little swelling???Come on!! My results are starting to look good week 6 but I was disfigured and completely bruised, swollen and in agony. Went to top doctor for this. It hurts a lot.
Agreed. I had them done six days ago and have had to take ibuprofen round clock. I have dimpling and bruising, I pray it will be worth it.
What about aptos threadlift?
Can I do aerobics after the pdo threads? Like Zumba?
Dr. Lydia Parker, The Parker Clinic. She has a few different locations. I worked in dermatology in Cleveland, I go to her.
Would these help with festoons/malar bags?
@@dr.stefani6304 what do you recommend for festoons?
Honestly, festoons are too high up on the cheeks for threads to be the best treatment. I'd go with a tightening device instead to target the mis face. Threads are better for jowels, neck laxity, things that are lower on the face/neck than festoons. Does that make sense?
I was watching your video on Thermage, and you mentioned it's not supposed to hurt. Is there a sensation of warmth or you shouldn't feel anything at all?
Is this like the pet lift being done in florida?
Hi dr, are you aware of Aptos threads ? Any feedback? Thanks
What are your thoughts on the “aquagold designer tox facials? Worth the time and money? I trust only your opinion!
I’d like to try thermage before getting threads, but I’ve heard that thermage can reduce facial fat. Is this true? Or is it performed on specific areas of the face where facial fat loss is warranted? (nasal labial folds etc)
Do u have someone you recommend in San Francisco?
