- Poole is a charming coastal town located near Bournemouth and Weymouth in Dorset, England. Visit Poole for its town streets and harbour as well as it's stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and abundance of activities and attractions.
One of the main draws of Poole is its beautiful beaches, which are some of the best in the country. The soft golden sand and crystal-clear waters of beaches such as Sandbanks, Canford Cliffs, and Branksome Chine make them perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and relaxing. There are also plenty of water sports to try out, including surfing, kayaking, and paddleboarding.
Beyond the beaches, Poole has a rich maritime history that is still evident today in its bustling harbor, which is the second largest natural harbor in the world. Visitors can take a boat tour around the harbor, which is home to a wide range of vessels, from fishing boats to luxury yachts. They can also visit the historic quay, which is home to a variety of museums and galleries that showcase the town's maritime heritage.
Another must-see attraction in Poole is the stunning Brownsea Island, which is located in the middle of Poole Harbour. The island is a haven for wildlife, and visitors can spot red squirrels, peacocks, and a variety of birds. There are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy on the island, including hiking, cycling, and wildlife spotting.
For those interested in art and culture, Poole has a thriving arts scene, with numerous galleries and theaters showcasing local and national talent. The Lighthouse is a particularly popular venue, hosting a wide range of shows, concerts, and events throughout the year.
Foodies will also be well-catered for in Poole, with a range of excellent restaurants and cafes serving up delicious local and international cuisine. Fresh seafood is a particular specialty, with many of the town's restaurants sourcing their ingredients from the local fishermen.
In summary, Poole is a beautiful coastal town with something for everyone. Its stunning beaches, rich cultural heritage, and abundance of activities and attractions make it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to explore the south coast of England.

It's great to see a video of Poole in 92/93 I worked in a fishing tackle shop on Wimborne Road
Hi Neil went to poole 51 years ago can't remember what it was like then everything changes so fast these days thanks for the walk
That looks like a nice place to go and see and enjoy walking round and seeing all the yachts and the shops and restaurants and pubs and I never been to Poole thanks

But I could hear the Seagulls yelling...WHERE IS MY FOOD !😂🤣
Really neat smal” city. Loved i5!
It was really awesome to see where my mum was born she was a 10£ Pom back in 1958 and sailed to Australia. Hopefully, I can make it over one day and see where i hail from cheers
Great place love the harbor and boats Hope you didn't get to wet
There's much more to Poole than just the Old Town and Quay. All the videos on TH-cam seem to concentrate on this small area. You should venture further afield, to the Civic Centre, Ashley Cross, Lower Parkstone, Branksome, Upper Parkstone, Newtown, Alderney, Oakdale, Canford Heath ...
I've lived here all my life, and know every inch of it.
I am planning to move to UK and study in Bournemouth University, it would be great to get some insights from you regarding accomodation and other important that i need to considering before moving.
Would love to get in contact with you.
Beautiful
Over 20 years ago I was there don't feel the need to go back. But the hog roast was good.
Went here for a weekend back in 1990..fabulous place....millionaires row....clean and in pristine condition when I visited there and used the chain link ferry. Purbeck Hills are great area for camping and walking....well flmed...as expected.
Fantastic - I was hoping you would do Poole :) Many thanks!
A fantastic video of POOLE | Exploring the charming seaside town of Poole Dorset!.❤❤💛💛
Lovely place
Very!
Hope you win your fight with the parking company ! I absolutely love your blogs !!
Thanks for the walk around. Especially the statue of Baden-Powell. Will be visiting Poole at the end of May on the way to Guernsey (Ferry).
Have a great time!
Especially the Nazi sympathizer.
My husband and I love watching your videos, here in Curitiba (Brazil). I would suggest that you put a small map at the beginning with the location of the city. ❤❤❤❤
Try Google...
I've lived here all my life. Good video of quay area and old town but there is so much more to see. Hope you come again and do Part 2.
Definitely!
It was just a flying visit so have plans to return!
My husband was born in Bournemouth and brought up in Poole he left Poole 30yrs ago and we try to get down to Bournemouth and Poole couple times a year we go to Poole Harbour and we take a boat trip across to Brownsea Island which is run by the national Trust . Pity there was an oil spill in to Poole Harbour a few weeks back .😬😒
You asked about the Hennings building, it was a warehouse called Boatshift Warehouse and is a Grade II listed building.
Great to see Pool was there in early 70s no modern buildings then
I do remember the long Sandy stretch of beach and the blue ness of the sea 🌊
You didn’t walk to that on this video
There is also a pool! A real gem of a place beautiful turquoise waters on clay
You will need to go back!
Watched on the big screen
Really enjoyed it
Yeah the water isnt so blue anymore. Its more or a murky grey/brown colour these days.
Great work and very informative 👍 Hope you win that parking battle!!!
Thank you!
I have good memories of Poole. But times have not been friendly to the place. It looks sad now.
I've personally lived in poole my whole life and i love the place to bits.
If you're thinking of moving there? Do it! You're always spoiled for choice and will always find new adventures
Well said Shay!
Really ? It's not that great anymore . And I've lived here 60 years .
@@sexpistol7712why because I was thinking about moving there.,,,
I've just found your video of Poole. It's one of the places in Dorset that we could be moving to later this year and has given us a good feel for the place. Thank you. 😊
The good bits are really good , but the bad bits are really bad , check it out well first . The bus station in the evening is a no go area for one . Even during the day sometimes .
@@sexpistol7712 Thinking of moving round the Poole area. Which bits are the bad bits to avoid?
do you get fresh veggies in the local stores???
Love that place😊
I remember holidays in Bournemouth growing up, with trips to Poole...is The Poole pottery still there or not?? I seem to remember years ago it was going to close down.
Poole is popular with bikers. Check out biker nights at Poole Quay May to August
Thanks Viv - didnt' know that!
A challenge for you, Neil. To visit every town with a Lifeboat station that you haven't already been to. By the way, you missed RNLI HQ in Poole altogether 😢
the hennings building was a warehouse in victorian times and i think now it is a model railway museum and aquarium
The little hut at the top of the building 9:25 housed a pulley for a rope that was used to raise and lower sacks between the ground and any floor. Those central windows were doors that could open fully to let the sacks in or out.
Looks like the building at 20:42 is similar.
LOVELY. We drove down last summer to pick up a big machine vice from one of the works to the north of the town. So went a walk on Bournemouth beach first.. I have 2 parking tickets in my criminal record with the Exeter one being the best. The company advertising on the original ticket went bust owing many holidays to people. And upon entering the council tax on half of Exeter for the next December... The operator double clicked on the mouse. OOPS. I can still remember the smile on the RBS cashier as she exaggerated yet another overdraw got compensated. Well paying for both tickets. 10 pence the charge had gone up by with the print being so small and covered in rain on the machine. Slough, 10 boxes to scrape open on the parking permit and I missed one. I heard that the Council is currently in trouble... A palace to be avoided with us not expecting a Gimbal walk from!!! David and Lily Reading.
and a good fishchip shop in highj street
Hi, new member☺️
Welcome!! Good to have you onboard!
Thank you😊
I only come here once or twice a year to see my friend
Have you been to Sandbanks and the millionaire houses in Dorset.
Not yet but will be in the summer
@@GimbalWalkTV Thats great, i've never been but looks an amazing place.
My son and his friends are going to the Tank Museum in Bovington in Sept. Is this near?
Great 😊
Go to the cockle shell beauty of a pub
Will try it next time im in Poole
lovely video. Just my opinion but I feel it would have been even better if you had started from the water front at Baiter Park and walked along the sea front to the quay from there.
Thank you
I was very lost 🤣
How did your fight against the parking fine go?
Still ongoing!
That was the guy from whitby.
I lived in Poole in the 1940s, then it was a proper working harbour, I visited Poole last year and was surprised at the change, no more lovely old boats loading timber and coal but luxury yachts. No, Poole is just another luxury town, not for me any more.
I've swam safely off the quay so many times , now suddenly it's dangerous? How?
On the Britannia parking fine - you should complain direct to their MD; so many experience the issue you had with the app that you have to wonder if it's deliberate...
I live here and trust me when I say it's not charming when kids run the town at night and people are getting stabbed in the bus station
How often people getting stabbed here at night?
I live in batier park in poole
Did you win the fight for the absurd parkiny fine? 😂
Sadly not
I gave up in the end and just paid it off
Made me so angry
Car parking companies 🙄 pah!
Hi, we love your walks and watch regularly. But the only criticism we make is your very noisy walking, you state you ware trainers. This type of shoe does not make a noise when walking !!!!! Sounds like you are wearing some sort of boots. Since you don't do a running comentry the sound is turned "off".
Sorry to say but it is annoying.
That’s fine just mute it 👍👍
I wear Nike Zoomx Invincible trainers - they absolutely DO make a noise when walking (that’s literally what you’re hearing 🤣)
Are you really complaining about the noise his footwear makes?! 🤣🤦🏻♀️
@@marzipom5630 It's by far NOT the weirdest angry complaint I've had about my videos though 🤣
@@GimbalWalkTV I dare ask what that is! 😂 Some people are just so weird.
