I have watched several videos of this man's creative mechanical ingenuity of making or repairing truck and machine parts that simply are not available. This might be my favorite? You just cannot go down to the local automotive store and purchase a die (this die) for rethreading this differential box. #1 is because there is "no local auto store" in the country where he lives and even if there was, #2 it would be very doubtful to have a tap die of this nature!!! Making the die he makes from some truck spindle axle and the wooden cradle to support it is Genius, creative and funny! As he progresses this task, I am once again reminded of the many ways I have had to design and make parts for our golf carts, Willis jeeps, golf course equipment and my '95 corvette that simply were not available anymore, but nothing close to the things I have seen this man make. Only Kurtis, his machine shop CEE in Australia can equal this man's mechanical ability. Kurtis has a huge advantage in that he has every known machine in his shop and supply centers in Australia to purchase from, whereas this man (I wish I knew his name as it is an insult to him not knowing his name) works in a dumpy shop on a dirt floor in some desolate part of the world???
Kurtis has mentioned in his videos that he would not hire any person to help him in his shop due to lack of confidence of anyone not having his expertise in machining!!! Kurtis, if you could somehow find this man, he would be a tremendous help to you and your world of superior machine shop fabrication... The two of you are outstanding machinist. As far as creativity this fellow is second to none. Especially with his very basic equipment. Indeed Kurtis would do well to employ this bloke. Hope Kurtis is watching to learn more techniques when normal threading taps/dies or other equipment are not available. Retired mechanic/machinist in Aussie Land.
