By 1996, people DID know how to do superheroes on TV just fine. By that time we had the Flash TV show and several seasons of Batman:The Animated Series. Its just that the people who did this train wreck had no clue

60s Batman had already happened. And that show may be dated, but it's fun and good. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman also existed in the 90s. Great Superhero show. Successful live action Superhero shows had been done well before and into the 90s. So it's just bad writing. Whoever scripted a scene where Green Lantern stuffs his costume into a bag for example....bad writing. And there had been far better Superhero suits done at that point. No it didn't look like 2000s stuff, but it had been done.

Additional trivia: He was also in three episodes of Tales from the Crypt, hosted of course by the Crypt Keeper, who was voiced by John Kassir, the actor playing Atom in this awful, awful pilot.
Also, why did they name him "Weather Man"? instead of Weather Wizard? That would make much more sense considering Weather Wizard is an already established character in the DC universe.

He also was really good in Twin Peaks, especially The Return.

Personally I'm gonna hold out and hope Warner Bros makes a live action Justice League movie that's similar in tone to the animated series (which I believe to be the only good on-screen depiction of the Justice League).
Whenever i see people say they hate modern superhero movies cos of like little nitpicky things, this is a great example of something that is much much worse
I think people fail to recognize that today's worst superhero movies would've been considered par for the course in the 80s or 90s. We're spoiled to the point that viewers now moan about superhero movies that are a hundred times better than we could've imagined circa 1997.
Just because something happens to be worse, the better one isn't free from criticisms.
This is true, but the way people nitpick even the best ones, it's like they have no concept of how far we've come, or even what's good. More and more, people appreciate less and less.
Just because it has modern technology to make. The Adam West Batman, for example, is dated and campy, but it's not bad or lacking in being a fun watch. The Tim Burton Batman movies (which were modern dark realism in there time and now seen as slightly Darker camp) are still good and fun to watch. The Donner Superman is still unmatched. Sometimes the only thing modern Superhero films and TV have is being of the technology of the day, which doesn't make them good. The Justice League pilot in this video looks like it was bad due to rubbish characterization and a crappy script. Not the unavoidable look and limitations of it's time. The same thing that makes a bad film a bad film today.

I loved the juxtapositioning of Arrowverse scenes to showcase how much things have changed when making superheroes on TV. Even The CW, with a smaller budget, manages to make a compelling show about the Flash. In fact, we've pretty much seen Justice League crossovers on TV ever year for pretty much a decade now

That Wonder Woman pilot from a few years ago was pretty crap. WW was portrayed as a psychopathic vigilante who is inexplicably loved by people. And she has three identities for some reason. She's Wonder Woman, who "fights crime" by completely disregarding the law and the Geneva Convention, Diana, who owns a corporation, and a random "average" person who mopes and gets depressed about her life.
There are also some crappy made for TV superhero movies in the 90's. There's the Nick Fury movie with Hasselhoff and I think there's one based on the X-Men.
There's also like 3 Captain America movies, which are just so cheesy

TBH I'm more of a Marvel fan but I want DC to do good too. Snyder isn't that bad of a director but he tries to make everything so overdramatic and "epic" looking... I mean, his movies look very good but he falls flat when it comes to some scripts... MoS is a good movie, best DCEU movie actually, but the Superman in it... He changed him so much that he almost doesn't feel like Superman. Clark is supposed to be a symbol of hope to people...
But I believe in Justice League movie, DC surely has learned from their mistakes and now they'll do better...
