- Read Description: The Remington Nylons started in 1959 and were produced until 1989. These incredible stocks were produced from Dupont's Fiber 66 polymer, they called it Zytel 101. These rifles are self lubricating. Great for Arctic weather and the heat. Very accurate out to 50 yds (.7" group at 50 yds.) and could hit targets at 100 yds. easly. Exhibitions were done with them to show people you could shoot 1000's of rounds through them without it jamming. They are collectible. The prices for the 66 model goes for around 450-500.00. The 10c with the magazine was produced from 1972-1978. It replaced the mod. 77 with a larger magazine for 10 rounds. The price is 500 and up. The Rem. 12, bolt action sells for about 9-1,200.00. They were only made from 1962-64. The Green Seneca is rare, cost around 2,500-3,000.00. There is a lever action model called, 76 Trail rider its very rare to find. The polymer stock guns were dropped off 2 story buildings to show that the stock wouldn't break. You also saw a Zytel .221 cal. XP-100 Fireball pistol in this video. It was the first long distance shooting pistol made.
I own a Remington Nylon Bolt action that I bought from a co-worker over 30 years ago. It is still in good condition. I am astonished with it's accuracy with inexpensive lead slug Winchester Wildcat 22 LR ammo. I replaced the 22 scope with a fixed 4X high power rifle scope. Under calm conditions it will print under 1 moa at 100 yards all day. I routinely make killing shots on groundhogs out to about 150 yards. My most memorable shot was when I walked out of the wooded trail to our local shooting range and observed a groundhog beside an abandoned building - "way out there" - Knowing I could not sneak closer due to the totally unobstructed view over a field, I dropped down to a secure sitting position, took aim, allowed a bit of "Kentucky elevation" and squeezed. To my dismay, the hog dropped like a rock. I placed a small pile of stones where my butt had been, went home and collected a 25 yard tape measure and my Wife. We went to and looked at the hog and found the entrance wound to be right under it's ear. PERFECT! We then measured the line to my little stone pile. 297 yards >>WOW! And, with the cheap Wildcat ammo. Needless to say, this is a quality rifle and a keeper.
I am an old man now, and this rifle will be given to my son, along with some other fine firearms.
That’s a great story. I was raised up shooting these type of rifles. I shot them so much in my teens that I could shoot animals without looking at the front sight. It’s was kind of like shooting a traditional bow. You just have that feeling when you are on target. They are awesome rifles. Thanks for the comment.
I picked up a nylon 76 back in 1966 your right it's very accurate and perfect to carry all day it's light weight is perfect.

I've got one for over 50 years, never had a jam nor a malfunction.
I have a black one with a black diamond that I bought new in 1979 for $75. I love shooting this gun and have never had an issue.

Had a nylon 66 apache black loaded in the butt stock. Made quick load mags out of 1/4" copper tubing . What a great firearm to shot .But lost it in the Tornado May 31 1985 that came through Pa and Ohio. Somebody got them self a great and fun gun

They generally don’t jam. They do need to be cleaned now then.
I have both the nylon 11 ( box mag fed ) and the model 12 tube fed . My dad bought the 12 for my an auction for $35.00 back in the day and was my first real firearm . Still have it today and I’m 59!years old now. They both look brand new and were only made like 3 years if my in the early 60’s If memory serves me and both of mine look almost brand new .

I've got a model 11, which I love for squirrel hunting and plinking. It's not in the greatest shape aesthetically, but it has a ball-ended bolt lever rather than the flat one that most of them do. I'm not sure how that happened, since I've never seen another like it. My dad picked it up in the 1980s. Unfortunately the rear sight is missing and someone drilled out a sling attachment hole in the bottom of the nylon. It's also gotten a bit beaten up over many years in the woods hunting raccoons and squirrels. It's my favorite .22 rifle I've ever fired, and crazy accurate with the ltitle Tasco scope it's had on it since at least the 1980s when we got it. I don't think it would be worth much to a collector, but I hope it stays in my family for a long time.

I traded a 1022 for one about 20 years ago . It still has the sticker on the side.

My paternal Grandfather asked me what I wanted for my birthday.
I told him I wanted one of the new (at the time) Remington Nylon 66.
I wanted the semi automatic version.
He bought the Remington Nylon 11s.

I have a Nylon 12 my dad gave me when I was 15 or 16. Still have it. Great 22 rifle.
Whether it be rifle or shotgun, Remington has always been right on the money with the way the sights line up when the gun is shouldered.

I think there are 5 .22 and a larger cal. Rifle. And the .221 fireball pistol.

I had no idea they made a bolt action , I always kicked myself for not buying one back when they were still making the 66, every used one I've seen looks like a battlefield pickup. Recently I bought a Winchester Wildcat which reminds me of the Nylon 66 concept. Someday I hope to find a decent condition one.

That's awesome. They are hard to come by. The senica green would be a nice addition for me. There is also a green Kmart one too. Made for Kmart. Not to be confused with the Senica green. Some any the SG will go for 2,800.00 The no. 11 an 12 can go up to 9-1200.00 now. Thanks for the comment.
I bought a K-Mart Seneca green in 88 or 89 and put a couple hundred rounds through it. I hocked at a pawn shop in probably 92 for maybe 50 bucks, don’t ask me why😬. I wonder what it’s worth today 2023.
Through the years I've had the pleasure of owning an "Apache Black" 66, a "Mohawk Brown" Fireball and a "Mohawk Brown" 12. Yes, of course, not smart enough back then to hang on to them, dummy, lol. Good memories though!
We have guns we regret later having let them go . But we have memories of them.
The C10 has a magazine not a clip. A clip loads from the top ,like the m1.

I have both a nylon 66 and a Seneca green apache 77. I can't find scope rings that seem to work. I looked online and all i can find is it takes a 3/8" dovetail ring. Any idea what model rings you have on yours?
I have Kwik Site on mine that I bought years ago and they work great.
I had to look at them. They are the old style Weaver scope rings. It stamped on them. Thanks for the comment. The Seneca green is a rare one.

The last I heard was that they were between $700-1000. They are the rarest one. They may be worth more!

Most experienced owners say scopes don't stay sighted on a 66 because the reciever moves a little, how has your experience been.
My Dad's held zero just fine. It saw pretty hard use too.
My Grandpa had a R 66 for squirrel hunting. Could shoot a squirrel in the eyeball at 30 - 40 yards. Taught me an Ozark Squirrel Call with 2 nickels clicked together when a squirrel ran around to the back of the tree. Click the nickels, and the squirrel would poke his head out .
I never heard of the nickel trick. We would take our hat and throw it on the back side of the tree. The squirrel would run to the opposite side of the tree so we had full view of him. Try it sometime. Thanks for the comment.

THE nickel trick is to hold one nickel between your thumb and pointer finger. The scrape the other across your thumbnail and striking the other nickel. Sounds like a squirrel chittering. I grew up in the Ozarks and went hunting with grandpa all the time. Grandma had a few recipes for squirrel. I speak about it with my kids and they call me a GROSS OLD MAN .

The 10C is in Mohawk Brown. The 77 is Green and the more valuable of the two.
I recently acquired a Remington Nylon 66 from my brother. Would anyone know what would cause the safety to not come off safe? Thank you.
I have never heard of a safety sticking. I have seen plastic parts stick, because someone spilled coke or something sticky on it. And the plastic gets stuck. I would use some penetrating fluid just to see
These are easy to disassemble. There are some TH-cam videos on taking them apart. The safety is easy to get to. Here is a schematic.

It's broken
I just got my old Nylon 12 back and I need a rear sight just curious if you might have any info on where to get the rear sight assembly for the Nylon 12, I have looked everywhere. Thank you.
Numrich Arms is always the best place to look at. I dont see the mod 12 rear sight in stock. They do restock items at times. I'm thinking the 66 or other mods are the same. I just checked all of them, they are not in stock now. At least you have a scope for it. Check with Numrich later. Also research the Nylon, they were copied by other countries. Oh yes, it's rare. Only 1600 were made. I have never seen one in person. They can go from 1500-2000.00.

the Model 66 is Seneca green is the rare model, not the Seneca green model 77.

Who knows exactly. It could be done. Some say he was shot from 3 different angles. It's amazing that didn't hit his wife. They were true marksman.
