I visited sharm two months ago as a female on my own with small children and I can say majority of the time we felt very safe and majority of the Egyptian people we met were very nice friendly good people but there were the minority experiences which on my own with small children were quite uneasy. First of all when I was waiting to go on a boat trip there was a man who put a guide in my hand and asked me to buy it when I politely kept saying no he kept pushing and asking why not until he became very very rude and started shouting in my face, it spoilt the trip tbh I did not enjoy it and I did not feel easy especially having children with me. Another experience I had was a man asking me to come in his shop outside my hotel, again he was putting something in my hand asking me to buy it, and when I said no sorry that I have already spent my cash in the shop next door I cannot buy, he started being pushy again and saying I can take it and come back and pay tomorrow etc....I said politely no so I left the shop and he came out as I was walking down the street and started shouting don't come near my shop anymore and threw a chair out onto the street, I felt very uneasy as a female on my own. I feel I would not have had these experiences had I had been with a man they would have been more respectful. I only left our resort twice and after these experiences didn't leave the resort again. If you are travelling to sharm as a female on your own especially with small children I wouldn't recommend leaving the hotel on your own and if you do try to go out with other people you meet in the hotel. It is safe but you will have a different experience than accompanied by a man!
What Ayton said about the first impression of Sharm El-Shiekh is very related. I'm coming to Sharm next month and I really would love to meet Omar and ask questions about the city.
👩🏻💻 What you think is the difference between bias and reality ?
The smiles and welcome of the Egyptian people are wonderful 😊
