Never thought of Egypt as a beach holiday destination. Historical or cultural destination, yes. The beach looks lovely and the snorkeling wonderful. I'm from Canada, so my beach hols are a bit closer to home. Mexico or the Caribbean in winter and our own beautiful beaches in the summer. Very interesting to see this area of Egypt. Thanks for sharing.
@@ronniep9272 I lived and dived there for 2 years ....cool ? With a 3 month break from June as it is toooo hot , So f ...off. Nobody called you there . Don't go .
This beach is on the red sea .. it is nothing compared to the beaches they have up north on the Mediterranean, especially as you go west of Alexandria. Just google them .. better than the Carribean.
I've been to Sharm multiple times and just love it. I want to add a comment about the amazing friendliness and hospitality of the Egyptian people you will meet. Yes it will be predominately men, however as a solo female traveller they are always nothing but kind and respectful. Also, seeing how they interact with parents, and especially the children is fantastic. If you have young children don't be concerned by this familiarity - which can include picking the kids up and showing them a lot of positive attention. It's just the way people are in Egypt, and the Middle East in general..... kind, caring, respectful, and so very generous. Btw the vendors will harrass you, but this has been their way of working for more than a hundred years (read Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile which also mentions it and was published in 1937). For me - the #1 draw is the underwater world... however Sharm has so much to offer as your video shows.
Kam: yes there are. I'm going to break this down below into outside, and inside, of the resorts. Here you go: Outside: There are two main pedestrian areas which have many restaurants and fast food chains (KFC etc.). These are Naama Bay, and Soho Square. The old market (souk) also featured in the video will also have cafes etc which are likely a bit more 'local' in feel. There is also a huge restaurant/cabaret venue in the El Hadaba area of Sharm called Alf Layla Wa Layla (1001 Nights..... remember Ali Ba Ba and the 40 Thieves?). As well as food they have entertainment including belly dancing, and the whirling dervish etc. Again do do back to my point above that when you're out and about you will likely be approached multiple times by restaurant, shop, stall vendors to go into their place. The best way to let this not annoy you is to make the decision not to be annoyed (haha) It is perfectly okay to just keep walking past, even if someone is still talking to you, and don't engage if you're not interested. You can even add a polite 'La Shukrahn' if you like (no thank you in Arabic). Also, taxis to and from each location will be needed and are not the cheapest. If you don't want to barter/haggle a price then have the hotel reception to arrange a hotel for you, and you can arrange with the driver a pick up time and place for them to collect you and rake you back to the hotel. Bear in mind the price you pay outbound is only one way (I.e. you will have to pay the same amount on the return journey). In the hotel: will have one or more buffet style restaurants for your All Inclusive package. They usually have a wide range of food and desserts, and alcoholic and non-alcohic drinks (hot and cold). Some hotels are better than others when it cones to quality and taste of food. Although you can never go wrong with Middle Eastern dishes. Most also have 'snack' and 'beach' bars open throughout the day. Snack bars often have cakes, sanwiches, ice-cream, and hot/cold beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). Beach bars do chips/fries, burgers, pizza etc; again with the full range of drinks. Most hotels also have a few separate 'A la carte' restaurants which are typically a dedicated type of food. E.g. Italian, bar-b-que/grill etc.. Most All Inc. Packages allow one or some visits to the A la carte restaurants for free during your stay. But outside of that you will have to pay. Do check what your All Inclusive package includes for visits to these as it varies from hotel to hotel, or chain to chain, and how long your stay is. For example, on a 7 night stay one hotel may only allow you a single free A la carte restaurant visit to one of their restaurants and you will have to choose which; whereas another hotel may have a better deal where you get at least one free visit to each of the resort's a la carte restaurants during your stay. The a la carte restaurants need to be booked in advance and this can be done at somewhere in the hote reception or your hotel room phone. Honestly though... personally I have found that the food isn't really that much better than the All Inclusive buffet at the a la cartes i have visited. The only difference really being the table service, more intimate setting, and food presentation on the plates. But that's just my opinion/experience :) Finally, do expect to come back from your holiday a few pounds heavier 😁😁

Thank you for showing the Soho Square. We also visited Egypt in 2006, December. And the Square was just opened for tourists. It's amazing how it has changed over the years. We liked the Savoy hotel pretty much. It is near the Soho Square.
Went to sharm twice. April this year and last year. Stayed in aqua blu. Not cheap but worth every penny. Flights are regular now. Do get harassed to buy things and we got conned in a sim card but beyond that. The place is absolutely stunning. Love it
My grandma lives there half of the year 3 months at a time. She's there at the moment actually. She's been there for most of my life and I'm 17! I have been when I was very young. The people there are alright. Sharm used to be a very busy place! Shame the tourist population has gone down. Great video tho 👍
I’ve been to Egypt 15 times on girlie holidays with my husband and never had a bad belly nor anyone I’ve been with I first went 25 years ago on a Nile cruise for my 40th with my mum and took my children when they were teenagers Swam at ras Mohamed and the blue hole never seen a shark ❤
I was in Sharm in April & stayed in exactly the same hotel as you! Loved it there, the staff were brilliant. Also did my PADI at the hotels diving school. I really liked the walk down to the beach as it meant I could hey my steps in, which cosidering how amazing the food was, was a really good move! I will definitely go back, as it was such amazingly good value.
Not been to Sharm but have been to Hurghada, Cairo, Giza and Luxor. I love the beaches on the red sea but hate the hassle you get off resort. Best to hire a guide and they deal with everyone for you. Top tip, never walk into a perfume shop as part of an excursion.
I am truly sorry about any inconvenience you are experiencing in Egypt. We are more than 114 million Egyptians. Our personalities are different, so please do not judge us negatively
It’s not somewhere I would go every year but I do enjoy it when I go. We were there in May for a couple of weeks and it was great. Guaranteed good weather and the service is always fantastic. The pestering by shop owners and taxi drivers really doesn’t bother me, just say “no thank you” and carry on with your day.

I visited Sharm El-Sheikh and visited the Egyptian islands on the entire Egyptian Red Sea, and they have a wonderful and attractive nature, clean air, clear water and Egyptian coral reefs 🇪🇬❤
Great representation of Sharm! I've been to Egypt 12 times, 6 times Shark and I love it the most, although every place is great! About the hasslers; just say politely La, shukran and they'll say ok. As a blond female I got a lot of them but they never really bothered me. Thank you for this, I needed it more than I thought 💙

In Egypt or Turkey or many places outside the EU the best bet is to simply buy a local SIM card or a tourist SIM, which is preloaded with loads of data and is usually not very expensive. You can get them at arrivals in the airport or in some shops. Turkcell is best in Turkey, Vodafone usually best coverage in Egypt. I think in Egypt it is something like £7 for 10GB or £15 for 30GB which you'll probably never use even over a couple weeks of holiday. Reason why this is so great in Egypt is because Uber exists! In Hurghada, Cairo, Alexandria and a few other spots you can hit up an Uber- no haggling, no arguing or tips- just cheap taxis. Sharm has yet to have Uber so that's a shame but wait and see.
@@handsoffmycactus2958 We're not all orphans or North Koreans. It's useful being able to communicate with friends on the same trip, order a taxi, book a meal, use maps, or call for help when trapped upside down in a ditch in the middle of a foreign country. Just a small selection of examples why people might actually like to use their phones on holiday and not be judged for it by the holier than thou
It surely takes a lot of work and dedication to produce these quality videos, but you make it all flow so naturally and professionally, Tim. I could watch these all day long!
We're actually in Sharm right now. This is our second year here. My husband and I were laughing at the "do not enter a shop, or the door will be closed and the family will come down." This happened to us last year- we entered a shop after being asked to go in, and he closed the door behind us. It was a bit scary, but he made us tea and showed us just about everything for sale in his shop. In the end, to make a getaway, we bought some (horrendously overpriced) camel milk moisturiser and a massive bag of loose tea leaves. The forceful approach is a bit much, but we learned our lesson and won't be entering this year 😂.
We were in another country some 25 years ago, where some shop/restaurant owners had a similar sales ethic. We were lured into a restaurant on our first day...and he wouldn't let us leave! So we pushed our way out and he threatened to shoot us if he saw us again! But we walked past his place on a number of other occasions and he didn't recognise us. All talk..thank god!
That happened to my family in Turkey! We got locked in a carpet shop. They made us apple tea and tried to get my parents to buy a carpet. My brother and I weren't very old (I think I was about 8 and my brother 6) but my parents were forceful enough that after an hour, they not only let us go without buying anything, they took us on a small tour of the local mosque by way of apology. It was not my parents' first rodeo to be fair though and my brother and I were used to spending whole weekends in the travel agency amusing ourselves so it wasn't that different for us 😂
What do you do if you never carry cash - like me - I only ever pay by contactless. If a store doesn't take card then I don't shop there, or do all stores there now take card? A good way to get away with not buying at markets is to never carry cash.
I'm glad that you make a fair video and honestly show everything as it is, you are gentle man, and creative content creator, enjoy your vacation hope you make a visit to others cities in Egypt, Cheers
I'm really grateful for this video, because so many times Sharm El-Sheikh has popped up on travel recommendations and I've skimmed past. I'm not so sold on the night life, but loved everything else!
Very interesting and enlightening vlog, great hotel and seeing all the fish in the sea and boat trip. Makes you appreciate our driving laws after seeing Mohammed on the phone! Colourful at night, going for a quiet walk in town just isn't an option which would soon get annoying, but you are in their culture, not ours.
Visited about 10 years ago. Loved it but the hotel was full of Russians and of course a lot of Russian food. Staff were lovely though hated the Russians. Driving at night was scary as they don’t put their lights on !

Greetings. Ibrahim in Canterbury UK here. I am British, Canadian...and Egyptian! Yes seriously. Born in Cairo but left at age 18 months. Have not been back for a visit since 1987, so your video holds quite a fascinating for me. Interesting the number of "Mohamed's" in your video, as my father's name is Mohamed, as is my middle name. I can still speak Arabic almost fluently, though never learned to read of write it. Still have lots of family in Egypt. Anyhow, watching this right now as I type, totally fascinated. Your night time footage was a huge eye opener for me! I could not believe how modern it all looks. I have been subscribed to your channel for quite some time, after watching a video you made regarding Christmas in Bournemouth. This is quite a contrast...and in my country of birth too! Enjoy the rest of your stay, hope my fellow Egyptians treat you well and safe travels back to Blighty. Merci & Shokran! Ibrahim in Canterbury

Agree. I avoid resorts like that. Or ones where I’m hot and I need to go places that requires taxis and need to batter. Holds absolutely no appeal. I just want to relax. And see sights without the hassle of feeling I’ll going to be fleeced every corner.
Same, I went to Turkey and I absolutely fell in love with it too the point I went again 😂 but I was lucky enough to make friends who lived there and owned a bar/restaurant and offered us lifts, because the first half of the first holiday we done there, the taxi drivers were brutal, and even more so if they knew you had a few beers down you
Great video, Tim. Loved the underwater photography - the sea looks an incredible colour. And you're very brave - these places, as others have said, can be areas of high anxiety with the incessant pushy sales techniques. But we found the browner you get, showing how long you've been there, the wiser you are to their tricks - and they know it...and they leave you alone!😊
Only recently discovered your channel when I was watching your Pontins blogs - I absolutely love your videos. I love watching travel blogs and yours are some of the best I’ve seen! What a job you have 👌
Thanks Tim, it brings back some memories. We had a boat trip to Tirana Island in 2015, when it was still open to public, we stoped for snorkeling at almost the same spot as you did near the shipwreck, and my little sun was given a chance to drive the boat a bit on the way back ;) Our hotel was the one with a lighthouse 11:06 , it was very inexpensive, but surprisingly good, and convenient (small territory, few steps only to the beach), and more importantly, it had one of the best coral reefs in Egypt. Later that hotel was sold to Sunrise hotels chain and now its name is Sunrise Remal Beach. We moved to Australia in 2017, and Egypt is out of reach for us now. Literally crying :(
Hi Tim ! Always been a bit unsure of Egypt. But it looks like it's nice, people seem friendly . Loved seeing all the beautiful fish and pure clear water amazing. Thanks for sharing with us. Love to you as always Tracey 💕 xxxx
Hiya Tim, Egypt looks a great holiday place to visit, love snorkeling and so many beautiful fish and coral.your hotel looks good plenty of pools and near the beach, its be like turkey being asked all the time to buy but they are friendly.thanks for sharing your trip, take care.
Hello Tim,what a nice place, water is so clear its awesome to see the fish, the nightlife is good to see and things to buy.the weather must be warm there.
Brilliant video. Have seen so many fantastic looking hotels, especially with huge water parks. The only thing that still puts me off is still the security aspect with the airports
We went to Sharm as a family and stayed at the waterpark resort not far from the Hard Rock and we loved it, went to HR a couple of times, the constant hassle put us off going out though, our 14 year old daughter was constantly harrased, not physically but verbally and wolf whistling, good video and insight.
Went here for a last minute getaway. Never again! Airport was complete chaos! Got Delhi belly and was so ill. Airport was chaos coming home and toilets were broken and filthy.
Went in Jan 2010 on a lads get away, had a great time! Timed it perfectly as Egypt won the Africa cup of nations whilst we were there (the celebrations were insane) and just 12 months later the military took control of the streets!
Fabulous vlog again, the natural world (the sea) excellent, but the constant hustling around the town and it seems everyone wants to rip you off , I couldn’t stand it. Keep up the good work Tim. Thanks x
This was one of the most entertaining vids you have ever made... seeing the markets and nightlife... interesting places and ways to travel about was spot on 👍
Been to sharm a few times amazing place nabq and naama bay even took a day trip to see the pyramids lovely people shame I wouldn’t go again due to recent security issues but love the videos! Also went to that tgis when it was open one of the only few places that didn’t serve alcoholic drinks!
It was a very good wish you were here blog today of you chilling out visiting sharm El sheikh to go swimming and chill out walks around the streets of sharm El sheikh Egypt tim
I stayed at that hotel in 2014 for my honeymoon! So good to see it again! I didn’t feel safe outside of the resort. A couple I met were in a taxi and the drivers friend jumped in the front. They were terrified. We were constantly hassled by the hotel pool as well with people trying to sell us massages/beauty treatments etc.
We went in 2010 . On the second day they had the Arab uprising so everything was closed for a few days, all the Italians and Germans were flown home early and the Brits and the Russians stayed. But what we did see was beautiful.
I was in Sharm a few years ago and loved it. I wouldnt do AI again though. The hotel i was in was full of Russian people who would fill their plates with food, take 2 bites and put in the rest in the bin, then go up again and do the same. I did a day diving, just trial dive day, but that was incredible.
thanks Tim for the nostalgia of Sharm! I lived there in 2009-2010 and worked at Soho Square. it brings back many memories watching your video. Sharm is a great place to visit.

One of the best holidays I’ve ever had was in sharm. Spent many hours snorkelling around the coral reef. The locals can be pushy with selling but if you tell them you don’t want to buy but be happy to chat, they are more than happy to do that. We made a very good friend out of a local there, came on trips with us and out on a night etc. would love the go again
Visited Sharm in 2012 and loved it (apart from the fish!). I remember the mosque although not it being so built up and also the Coptic Cathedral nearby too. Beautiful country and worth a vist (we were further up in Nabq Bay). Great video as always - brought back memories of a special holiday :)

I went there in 1976 while a kibbutz volunteer, it was the done thing to go travel down to Elias and the Red Sea. It was a good place to aim for as there were a couple of places you could get water there. I think maybe one or two Hotels. It's been amazing watching it grow over the years and revisiting on diving holidays.
Interesting vlog Tim. I’m not a personal fan of beaches but even I can appreciate the stunning red sea. Enlightening trip. Thanks for showing me somewhere i’d never otherwise visit. Your presentation is top notch btw
I visited Sharm last year, lovely. The only disadvantage (for me) is going out as a solo black woman, some traditional Egyptian hotels do not even allow single women. Yes the red sea is to me one of those places I feel disadvantaged but still love. Negotiating prices in Egypt is a must and it needs patience. Just very close to that mosque, I got ripped off $70 for a few grams of incense and a few grams of spices, I can`t even figure out how the guy caught me off guard, thinking of it today, I could kick myself. You`re right the heat is suffocating in the day time. Thanks for sharing
The water reminds me of the Bahamas. I lived there for 6 years and the color of the water was always fantastic. The market place was the same except you are continuously bothered by the merchants. I really like the smaller resorts. Never thought about going to Egypt but I may have to reconsider. Why go to a water park when you got beautiful pools at the resort?
I stayed at the Oasis Blue Bay end of November and Start of December for a bit of Winter sun and Diving. I think your review is spot on. I fell in love with the sea there and loved the resort. I travelled to Dahab diving and found everything very friendly and want to return. However, my Mrs has a different story. I am 6ft 5 and a big guy. I have no problem with tipping and generally having a good relationship with people so everywhere i went i felt safe and had the best time. My Mrs is also chatty, and everyone loves her but in Sharm she was very much treated like a second-rate person. She found the fact no-one would talk to her very irritating and even ordering food they would speak to me and i had to direct their eyes to her to get them to even acknowledge her existence which for western girls is a problem. In the Blue Bay itself they quickly got to know her and did things correctly and all the guys where awesome but outside of the resort it was a different story. The net result was she stayed in the resort having spas and stuff and felt safe. I would go out diving mostly in the mornings for a few hours, so we had a great time but regretfully she does not want to go back. I am gutted so now looking at returning with perhaps some mates for a dive only holiday. Such a shame. BTW. The Airport is a Sh1t hole. That part does also need sorting and perhaps all the young men walking round with Guns in the airport and at the borders need toning down. We had a armed police escort to Dahab part way which I can help think was OTT. Especially as we had nothing on the way back so think they are doing it for show but it kind of has the opposite effect. I hope they do sort it as 90% of the people there are awesome, and they deserve more visitors.
@@LilyGazou What a coincidence that I was watching this Video and been longing to go back Diving again and a shark attack happens. I have “Swimming with Sharks” in particular Hammer Head sharks on my bucket list. I was not lucky enough to see any on my 10 dives there. Do I think its dangerous? Sharks swim next to people all the time and shark attacks are rare. I understand 10 people where killed by dogs in the UK last year but it does not stop me from walking out my front door or cycling on the heath where dogs run around. I think the bigger issue is people feeding sharks to make them come over for a shark selfie and that is perhaps what is happening in certain areas and then sharks start thinking humans and food is linked? My Mrs is scared of sharks as she is from SA so has seen Great Whites which I think we are all scared of? When we free dived together once or twice we saw large fish in the deep blue which spooked her but she kept diving as the rewards of swimming with the fish on the corral reefs is worth it.

Are there many restaurants
Kam: yes there are. I'm going to break this down below into outside, and inside, of the resorts. Here you go:

But that's just my opinion/experience :)
Finally, do expect to come back from your holiday a few pounds heavier 😁😁

I agree. It's TV quality content and presentation.

Love it

The haggling is an annoyance something i wouldn't have patience for- the snorkling looked incredible!
My grandma lives there half of the year 3 months at a time. She's there at the moment actually. She's been there for most of my life and I'm 17! I have been when I was very young. The people there are alright. Sharm used to be a very busy place! Shame the tourist population has gone down. Great video tho 👍
That shark attack down the coast put me off ever wanting to go in the sea again! Great vid as per 😊
Me too but it's like anything you wouldn't do anything ever again 😕
@@WalkWithMeTim Aye that's true!
I noticed sharks on the 'what fish you might see' poster Tim looked at, and he avoided them. I'd love to know what risk you are of shark attacks!

@@noreennasser8210 what I mean is that the Egyptian men have never bothered me!!! Never had any inconvenience! Love the Egyptian people!
Or just chill on holiday without going on your phone all the time. Switch off!!! I’m 23 and even I try and do this
@@handsoffmycactus2958 We're not all orphans or North Koreans. It's useful being able to communicate with friends on the same trip, order a taxi, book a meal, use maps, or call for help when trapped upside down in a ditch in the middle of a foreign country. Just a small selection of examples why people might actually like to use their phones on holiday and not be judged for it by the holier than thou

Great video looks like paradise. The water looks beautiful and even impressive under water, too also the buildings are just lovely.
Yes you hear the stories but don't think it actually happens I was only in my 20's at the time with my girlfriend it was very nerve-wracking
It was not my parents' first rodeo to be fair though and my brother and I were used to spending whole weekends in the travel agency amusing ourselves so it wasn't that different for us 😂
@karent4347 this wasn’t the called “Mike Tyson” the fragrance and spice shop hahaha
What do you do if you never carry cash - like me - I only ever pay by contactless. If a store doesn't take card then I don't shop there, or do all stores there now take card? A good way to get away with not buying at markets is to never carry cash.
I'm glad that you make a fair video and honestly show everything as it is, you are gentle man, and creative content creator, enjoy your vacation hope you make a visit to others cities in Egypt,

It's been amazing watching it grow over the years and revisiting on diving holidays.

Tim I gotta say, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Place I would never get to see. Thank you.
It all looks very run down ,and that boat ride was totally worth the cash .Great video, Tim.
I've been to Cairo and Sharm a few times. Loved it!
Any thoughts on the shark attacks?
