Darren's face when he said "Totally Awesome" was the same one he had at the end of his Golden Globe speech when he said "Totally Awesome" as a tribute to his friends. It shows how much those two moments in his life meant to him and how he wanted to recognize his friends but knew the time constraints of acceptance speeches. Yeah, I love Darren too.
@@AmyLovatt1. Two crazy facts about Very Potter Senior Year that you might not know: 1) the creators (Mama Umbridge and his brother) almost never posted it online. No one knew Darren’s mic was not working AT ALL until the next day when they began to review the footage. They had no dialog at all. They thought this is impossible to post. But they eventually went through all the tape they had of the footlight mics there to gather ensemble songs and used the recordings from them to pick up Darren’s dialog. It’s a miracle they were able to get it as good as they did. 2) the first act seemed a little long to you, but they trimmed HOURS out of the show. They had 5 hours and around 50 minutes of tape in the cameras and the show went over 5 hours and 40 minutes, and that was with them constantly backstage pushing everyone to go faster, faster, faster! There was so much cut out of the scene with Voldy and his parents, it just did not land well with the audience. But obviously they had no time for dressed rehearsals, barely a day for the entire cast to rehearse, and about one hour for Darren to rehearse! As long as act one was online, it was far longer there. Hopefully they got to do a potty break in between acts. 3) Have you seen Me And My Dick? AJ Holmes has his biggest role outside of Senior Year, and Brian has my favorite role in it as Flopsy! He is brilliant!
I think Senior Year really encapsulates what Starkid is as a whole. Sure it's not perfect, maybe a little long in some places and not all the songs are for everyone, there were a few mistakes and everyone has scripts, but the show works. It's funny, it's sweet and it's crazy emotional. It rounds off this journey perfectly, it's about family both for the actors and the community that's formed around it and I don't think another show has this nostalgia factor in the same way. I know I didn't really explain that brilliantly this video has just brought back a lot of emotions lol
@@LoveNeko64 I've heard that rumor too, but since she came back for the Starkid Homecoming, my instinct is to not believe it, and that she really did just leave to focus on her family. If someone felt that strongly about her religion, she probably wouldn't have come back at all. Just my thoughts, though!

Her beliefs just didn't really fit with the type of humor starkid is known for, which is why she wasn't comfortable continuing with them. No discrimination or hard feelings on either side, just opinions. (not sure of this either though)

Fun fact time! So, from what I’ve heard, Evanna Lynch was a fun of the AVPM and AVPS (she is such a fangirl, I love her!). So, when Darren’s career took off and he was in London for the Glee tour, Evanna apparenly went to that concert and the small solo concert he did where a lot of his Starkid friends were. She quickly got to know everyone and that’s how she got to be in AVPSY. I LOVED seeing her in the show as Luna and it seemed like she really just got to be fan again.

She's also in the short stage shows Joe Moses did. Look up Joe Moses One Man Showses. They are all great, but the Les Mes parody is the one she's in. As well as the girl that played Fox Face in the second Hunger Games movie. And I think a couple other people that are in other things or went on to do other things.
Amy: "Give me the tea" Starkid fandom: GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRLLLLL! There is lots of rumor behind it. What IS known, Bonnie wanted to have a family so got married and had kids. What is RUMORED, her religious views caused her to have a falling out with the group at the same time. Unconfirmed. She did join them for the Starkid Homecoming concert. It was a BIG deal in the fandom when she and her kids showed up in the reveal trailer.
Agreed, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Bonnie also had wanted to direct AVPS rather than Matt Lang, but Nick wouldn't wouldn't do the show without Matt directing, so that may have caused more of a rift too. Either way, she did return for SK Homecoming. So we did get to see her as Hermione at least once more.
There was also a lot of pro-life stuff on her Twitter before she deleted it, including tweets that insinuated that anyone who has an abortion is a killer (a lot of people think she said that directly, but I can't find anything that shows that reliably). Clearly, this comes as a result of her religious views and could be what lead to the rumored fall out with the rest of the Starkid cast. Edit: Never mind, I found something she retweeted saying that someone having an abortion is the exact same as a mother getting away with murdering her own 3 year old child. There was some slut-shaming stuff in there too along with other things but I feel like I've said enough to explain why a falling out over these views sounds VERY plausible
Now she has a huge family and teaches acting to her religious teens in her church. That's why it was VERY significant when she said she was coming back for Homecoming.

Like the G.L.E.E. from Starship and Joey making an off-handed comment about being in a production of West Side Story in Trail to Oregon. The Rockettes line for Tyler was a way to make a joke about why he moved to New York and hasn't been around.

Two other fun things about this show: 1. this is how they met Robert Manion! They held some competitions for song writing, character design, etc. and Robert won for his Wizard Duel song (which they didn't end up using in the show) and for his Peeves design 2. This show was originally like 5 and a half hours long so you're watching the short version
More like 4-ish...I remember it was scheduled to start at noon but it was closer to 1, then intermission was probably like half an hour, and I think it got done around 5:30. But a 5 and a half hour experience for sure!
Tyler went to Broadway next. He was in the book of Mormon. I think that to truly appreciate this one, you have to do what you did, truly fall in love with every actor and go back to it. It's so emotional to see Darren say goodbye to his friends, i think everyone cries there. I can't wait for you to watch Trail to Oregon !!
I’m not sure if Tyler was ever on Broadway (never heard it mentioned before, also googled it and nothing showed up), but just adding to this, I believe he did (maybe still does?) work for admissions at Julliard within the last year or so. I believed, like many of them, that he left because they did the Harry Potter shows in college, so his path just diverged from the others after they graduated. It’s possible he was on Broadway, I’ve just never seen anything about it before.

You asking for the tea on Bonnie leaving gave me war flashbacks because it was such a contentious point in the fandom for so long haha The basic gist is Bonnie left Starkid after AVPS. Nobody really knows why but it's generally assumed to be partly because she wanted to pursue other things (she's now a teacher) and partly because she's pretty religious and held some more controversial opinions re abortion/gay marriage etc Idk we never really found out what happened but it always seemed like it was kinda messy. Obviously lots of other people have 'left' Starkid over the years but they've always returned for occasional concerts/livestreams etc whereas Bonnie's departure was very much 'I'm severing all ties with this. I'm deleting my youtube and unfollowing all of you on twitter' so the rule in the fandom was always just 'we don't speak about Bonnie' Cut to last year when everybody was watching Starkid's video where they announced they were going to do a reunion for their 10th anniversary and '....holy shit.... is that Bonnie??? Who we literally haven't heard from in 8 years??? OMG' Honestly it was wild like we all knew they were going to be doing a reunion concert so thought there was no way they could surprise us and then they did the fucking impossible and brought Bonnie back. Presumably if there were any bad feelings it's all water under the bridge now but I still wouldn't be surprised if we never hear from her again tbh And that's the tea

@Particularly Good Finder She, obviously, doesn't feel that way now. She openly wept after walking into the rehearsal for Starkid Homecoming. If I recall, it was when she saw Jamie Lynn again. They just held each other and she wept. I think deep down inside she didn't feel that Starkid was "just a college group," but didn't realize it at the time. But now she has. She truly missed them as they have missed her. I have to imagine there was a lot of healing amongst the original core Starkids that weekend. And, yeah, as @liduli mentioned, she outright promised the fans that she would, indeed, be back for the next reunion, whenever that may be. Despite Nick Lang saying there would be no meet-and-greet after Homecoming, like there usually would be at Starkid Concerts, Bonnie still walked out to the lobby and schmoozed with the fans while her hubby filmed her. And that's where she told the fans she was talking to that she would be back again. In fact, it would not surprise me if, after her newborn gets older, she actually returns to the stage with Starkid. But, hey, if we only get Bonnie for concerts, that's okay too.
Yeah, this was supposed to be the END of Starkid. Twisted was supposed to be a completely different thing, but Eric Kahn Gale said it was a Starkid show without anyone’s permission, so they just rolled with it. So yeah, this was really the end of an era. I feel like, after Holy Musical B@tman and Apocalyptour and the logo rebrand, they kind of ditched the whole “we don’t really know what we’re doing but we’ll try anyway!” act that defined Starkid during its first few years (it’s ESPECIALLY present in the tours and it’s hilarious, yet so different; very TH-camr-ish, and they were really like rockstars) and fully owned up to the fact that they were a theatre company. So from then to now, there’s been a totally different vibe. While there’s something so charming about that time, Starkid is still as awesome as it ever was, and it’s always exciting to see what’s next. Fun fact: two years BEFORE Starkid was formed, future Starkid members got together to produce a season of a web series called Little White Lie (which was later uploaded to the SK TH-cam channel after the success of AVPM - they were releasing lots of things around that time), which was part of a contest, as I understand it, in hopes of getting the show picked up for a full series on Soapnet. The show is actually REALLY good despite its audio issues, and I highly recommend it. There are only 11 episodes and it ended on a cliffhanger! At SPACE Tour, Lauren and Brian acted like they were going to announce a second season as a fake out, disappointing everybody. But hey, they sang a good song.
Bonnie left for some say kids, some say religion, but Meredith hadn't made her Potter debut yet so they put her as Hermione. That's the tea. Also, I love how you know all their names now!
As far as I'm aware, Tyler is not in the others mainly because of where he was living and working at the time. After the potters, most of the shows were either in Chicago (where most of the cast lived) and now LA (where most of the Chicago cast has moved to bar I think like Mere and Bri, Denise and Rachel). Tyler has been in NYC for a long time. He's come back for the reunion shows though and has been on a few of the livestreams!

All the potter musicals are good, but this is great. So underrated because it’s the 3ed potter, but it’s still great. The best is Harry Potter sequel, second best is a very potter musical, and my least favorite was the senior year, even tho it’s really great.
I always cry at the end too!!! Darren's "It has been totally awesome" always gets me, because you can see that he's almost crying, and it's his goodbye too!
also someone in the comments of the show said that Darren hugging everyone and then saying goodbye to "hogwarts" was also kind of paralleling him leaving starkid for the most part I CANT WATCH THE END OF AVPSY WITHOUT CRYING NOW
honestly avpsy is one of my absolute favourites, i agree that act 1 drags a bit but it’s so beautiful, so unbelievably emotional yet also funny, it’s just-uh so good. i think it really showcases Darren’s talent; he had so little time to rehearse and he still performed absolutely amazingly. He’s so precious when he breaks character and you can tell how much fun they’re having. Also i love the subtle glee references, such as *”recently he’s been acting, rather QUEER”* and “you suck.” *”Ginny you know i’m self conscious about that!”* lol sorry for the long rant i just love it
So I was actually lucky enough to have been in the audience! With intermission the show was about 5 hours long. Honestly though, at least to me, it flew by. They cut a lot of stuff out, but it’s been so long I don’t really remember a lot of specifics. I believe at one point they released the script, don’t know if that’s still out there. Darren’s mic issues weren’t a live issue, we heard him just fine. Somehow his audio didn’t record so they had to go in and amplify his voice from other people’s audio. Also, Darren literally got to Chicago (where this took place) a couple hours before the show which I believe started at 1pm, and then had to leave immediately after to go back to Glee. Everyone else who didn’t live in Chicago was there maybe two days prior. It’s honestly amazing how well this turned out. When it was announced they said it would be a “staged reading”, but they went above and beyond.
When you’re done watching all of the Starkid musicals, I recommend watching Spy’s are Forever and Solve it Squad. A lot of Starkid actors are in them and they’re really good.
Fun Fact: StarKid held fan contests for some design elements for the show! None of them were used due to the time crunch when putting up the show, but they were super cool! That’s where we get Robert Manion from! He won the Harry/Draco battle song and one of the puppet designs. The song is on TH-cam, it’s really fun! Highly recommend checking it out!

The realization of what Leaky Con is was so precious and I love you, Amy. There is also a joke behind the snickers joke. When they were doing the second Potter musical, Joe Walker asked Jim Povolo (who plays Goyle in this show) who was doing a snack run to grab a power bar because he needed something to eat and a little burst of chocolate. Jim decided to prank him and bought a snickers bar as well and tried to give it to Joe instead. Joe had already put on his full Voldemort makeup and costume and was getting into character so when Jim handed him a snickers bar instead, he reacted in character as Voldemort and thus this joke was made and kept in the final version of the script. I'm giving you a virtual hug and a box of tissues to comfort you after that emotional outpoor
Literally cry so much at this show so I don't watch it that often. I don't even have to have watched the full show in order to cry, just watch the finale and even if I've managed to keep it together by some miracle just seeing Lauren's face just breaks me!!
I love seeing Amy's gradual transformation into a starkid fan, from like being oh so and so is cool, to now knowing them by name, seeing traits of each actor, and feeling all the feels 😂😂
I love this. I'm pretty sure that I cried the first time I watched Darren sing his parts of I was, and probably at the end of the show too. I think this was originally just supposed to be a stage reading of the script, no costumes or anything. The performance was Darren's first time seeing the costumes, so when he can't stop grinning and laughing at Hagrid, it's because he'd never seen him in the costume before. I loved watching him struggle not to break character and kind of failing. lol
I need a full reaction to the Mouse King monologue. Also I find it really funny how I never see ANI mentioned in the comments. That musical is the red headed step child 😂
So, the tea on the whole Bonnie situation (and believe me, there is *tea* ) is that she basically wanted to focus on getting married and raising a family, but something happened that caused a rift between her and StarKid, many speculating her religious beliefs did not gel with the profanity and some messages in the shows. She began to block people on Twitter and later deleted her social media. Other StarKids said some unfavourable things about her during Q&A's. However, somewhere down the line, they managed to put the past behind them, and Bonnie joined a bunch of other members for the 10th anniversary reunion concert, StarKid Homecoming, in 2019. This was her first show with them since AVPS in 2010. There was much rejoicing in the fan base, because no one had expected that she'd be back.
@@serienrausch They never said anything specific but like if you watch some of the live streams and Bonnie is brought up you can feel this awkwardness. I remember two occasions one was in the 9th anniversary stream someone brought Bonnie up and I think someone said yikes (or something like that), and then in one of the live streams for TGWDLM Jamie was telling a story about how after graduation she told someone she thought she would never see Joe again (I think) but she would see Bonnie again (because they were very close) and she was like well we all know how that turned out. That is all I can remember and I don't know how factual it is, but I don't think anyone has ever straight-up insulted her.

when this show first came out it was such an emotional time. i was never really in the starkid fandom (although i've seen most of their shows) and was much more into glee at the time, but yeah, i very clearly remember the weekend this went up on youtube. everybody was a mess for days. and you're right, the last few scenes were very much about the rest of the kids coming right out and being like "yeah, darren's moving on, he's a star now, we're losing him and we're having to deal with it just as much as you guys are, we totally get it." it was kind of devastating. incidentally, right after performing this darren had to go to new york and film the klaine breakup scene. what a great weekend for him, huh?
Yes I remember that! And Chris was asking him all about LeakyCon since they shared a trailer for the location shoot, and I think several Starkids had messages for him (and goofy after-party pix) It was a great weekend for DC fans.
as a person who likes avpsy more than avps i feel validated yeah they had the scripts, but they're all giving it all they have and had fun doing so, and the emotional scenes are one of the best in all starkid, i will die on this hill
The biggest and best growth starkid has made over 11 years is the skill of refining and editing shows down to the the two hr mark hahah just you wait for Starship !
Lets also remember that Starkid did timeturner back to hogwarts AND Voldemort's secret kid going to school with HP's kid, BEFORE Cursed Child. And did it so much better.

I cried at the end of senior year as well... because when you realize it's not Harry saying goodbye to Hogwarts, it's Darren saying goodbye to StarKid it's heart breaking. T_T
I do love senior year, but when they first released it I thought is was like a "dress-run" version and they would release a full version of the show later. It would still be nice to see them do the show in full at some point ^_^

I feel your love for Darren Criss to my core. Every time I think I’m over my obsession I see a show or video of him being amazing/talented/precious/hilarious/gorgeous and it just gets worse. It’s been going on for eleven years!
I think that you should watch Spies are Forever before you watch Black Friday, and hopefully before TGWDLM. it introduces not only new actors but also more serious characters for other actors. I think this would also help the understanding of the audience reactions in Black Friday for the actors coming out on stage. I really hope you see this message :)

But then I saw your first review video I thought it was worth a try and now I am obsessed. LIKE OBSESSED. I love all the musicals and the actors and my new life goal is to make a UK region. Lockdown has been hard but the humour and passion of your videos and Starkid is just soooo...ugh..no words so happy. ;-)

You should def go watch the alternative version of 'Wizard Duel' composed by fan-turned-Starkid Robert Manion. He wrote it for a fan submission contest for songs to be used in the actual show, and it's INCREDIBLE, but they couldn't use it because it was too complicated to learn in 2 days!!
Fun fact, they had a contest for fans ho could submit songs for the show. One of the two of the winners was The Wizard duel but it didn't end up in show because it was to difficult for them to rehearse in such a short time (you can still find it on youtube tho, it's pretty great). Robert Manion who wrote it, started working with Team starkid and now he stars in their musicals :)
Actually, neither of the contest winners' songs ended up in the show. The person who wrote the "Get in My Mouth" winning entry was Eleanor Watts from England (you can hear her entry here: th-cam.com/video/hEFtBYhEz_g/w-d-xo.html ) but like Robert's entry, Clark and Pierce had already written a song by that point so their song was used instead. From my understanding, Eleanor is primarily a classical vocal major (ie, opera.) and did musical theatre just as a casual hobby, so that's why she didn't majorly pursue the Starkid route like Robert did.

He plays several background characters in Twisted, like Abdul or the 'he f---ed a tiger' guy ;) You should totally check out Robert's 'Wizard Duel', its the song he wrote that would've been the 'Tonight this school is Mine' song. Trust me, itll be a few minutes well spent!

Also the reason why Evanna Lynch is in Senior Year is because when she was in Harry Potter she saw the musicals and was a huge fan and she went to the convention and Starkid asked her if she wanted to be in the play read. Starkid helped her with her anorexia too!!
A Very Potter Senior Year`s actually great. It got amazing songs and amazing performances from all the cast members. Even though I only watched it for the first time last year it was still very emotional for me. It`s even more emotional now having seen Starkid Homecoming where all the old and new Starkid members reunited and spend the second half of the show singing Potter songs.
I'm so happy you liked this one! It's one of my favorites! Let me give you some context for this show and why they made this one so emotional and why there's so much talk of "this is the end" and "everything ends" and Voldemort's whole speech in the epilogue. This was done in 2012 at LeakyCon, the year after the last Harry Potter movie came out. Every year before that, the fans at LeakyCon always had something to look forward to whether it was a new book release or a new movie release. This was the first year there would be no new content and everyone was worried that the Harry Potter fandom would die. The hp fandom felt like home for a lot of people and it was very hard for people to deal with the uncertainty of the future of the fandom. In addition to that, like you've already guessed, it was also emotional because this was the last show in the Very Potter Musical trilogy. Fans had been asking for years about a "threequel" and they kept responding that it cannot happen because everyone is all over the country and it would be almost logistically impossible. When they announced that it would actually happen, it felt like a miracle. This show is addressing not only Starkid fans about the "end of an era" as you mentioned but also the Harry Potter fans. When I finished watching this for the first time, it felt like, even though we had no idea what would be the future of either of these fandoms, everything would be alright.

They had 5 hours and around 50 minutes of tape in the cameras and the show went over 5 hours and 40 minutes, and that was with them constantly backstage pushing everyone to go faster, faster, faster! There was so much cut out of the scene with Voldy and his parents, it just did not land well with the audience. But obviously they had no time for dressed rehearsals, barely a day for the entire cast to rehearse, and about one hour for Darren to rehearse! As long as act one was online, it was far longer there. Hopefully they got to do a potty break in between acts.
3) Have you seen Me And My Dick? AJ Holmes has his biggest role outside of Senior Year, and Brian has my favorite role in it as Flopsy! He is brilliant!
I think Senior Year really encapsulates what Starkid is as a whole. Sure it's not perfect, maybe a little long in some places and not all the songs are for everyone, there were a few mistakes and everyone has scripts, but the show works. It's funny, it's sweet and it's crazy emotional. It rounds off this journey perfectly, it's about family both for the actors and the community that's formed around it and I don't think another show has this nostalgia factor in the same way. I know I didn't really explain that brilliantly this video has just brought back a lot of emotions lol

Fun fact time! So, from what I’ve heard, Evanna Lynch was a fun of the AVPM and AVPS (she is such a fangirl, I love her!). So, when Darren’s career took off and he was in London for the Glee tour, Evanna apparenly went to that concert and the small solo concert he did where a lot of his Starkid friends were. She quickly got to know everyone and that’s how she got to be in AVPSY. I LOVED seeing her in the show as Luna and it seemed like she really just got to be fan again.

There is lots of rumor behind it. What IS known, Bonnie wanted to have a family so got married and had kids. What is RUMORED, her religious views caused her to have a falling out with the group at the same time. Unconfirmed. She did join them for the Starkid Homecoming concert. It was a BIG deal in the fandom when she and her kids showed up in the reveal trailer.
Agreed, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Bonnie also had wanted to direct AVPS rather than Matt Lang, but Nick wouldn't wouldn't do the show without Matt directing, so that may have caused more of a rift too. Either way, she did return for SK Homecoming. So we did get to see her as Hermione at least once more.

There was also a lot of pro-life stuff on her Twitter before she deleted it, including tweets that insinuated that anyone who has an abortion is a killer (a lot of people think she said that directly, but I can't find anything that shows that reliably). Clearly, this comes as a result of her religious views and could be what lead to the rumored fall out with the rest of the Starkid cast.
Edit: Never mind, I found something she retweeted saying that someone having an abortion is the exact same as a mother getting away with murdering her own 3 year old child. There was some slut-shaming stuff in there too along with other things but I feel like I've said enough to explain why a falling out over these views sounds VERY plausible
Now she has a huge family and teaches acting to her religious teens in her church. That's why it was VERY significant when she said she was coming back for Homecoming.

1. this is how they met Robert Manion! They held some competitions for song writing, character design, etc. and Robert won for his Wizard Duel song (which they didn't end up using in the show) and for his Peeves design
2. This show was originally like 5 and a half hours long so you're watching the short version
More like 4-ish...I remember it was scheduled to start at noon but it was closer to 1, then intermission was probably like half an hour, and I think it got done around 5:30. But a 5 and a half hour experience for sure!

I’m not sure if Tyler was ever on Broadway (never heard it mentioned before, also googled it and nothing showed up), but just adding to this, I believe he did (maybe still does?) work for admissions at Julliard within the last year or so.
I believed, like many of them, that he left because they did the Harry Potter shows in college, so his path just diverged from the others after they graduated. It’s possible he was on Broadway, I’ve just never seen anything about it before.

Idk we never really found out what happened but it always seemed like it was kinda messy. @Particularly Good Finder She, obviously, doesn't feel that way now. She openly wept after walking into the rehearsal for Starkid Homecoming. If I recall, it was when she saw Jamie Lynn again. They just held each other and she wept. I think deep down inside she didn't feel that Starkid was "just a college group," but didn't realize it at the time. But now she has. She truly missed them as they have missed her. I have to imagine there was a lot of healing amongst the original core Starkids that weekend.
And, yeah, as @liduli mentioned, she outright promised the fans that she would, indeed, be back for the next reunion, whenever that may be. Despite Nick Lang saying there would be no meet-and-greet after Homecoming, like there usually would be at Starkid Concerts, Bonnie still walked out to the lobby and schmoozed with the fans while her hubby filmed her. And that's where she told the fans she was talking to that she would be back again. In fact, it would not surprise me if, after her newborn gets older, she actually returns to the stage with Starkid. But, hey, if we only get Bonnie for concerts, that's okay too.

Yeah, this was supposed to be the END of Starkid. Twisted was supposed to be a completely different thing, but Eric Kahn Gale said it was a Starkid show without anyone’s permission, so they just rolled with it. So yeah, this was really the end of an era. I feel like, after Holy Musical B@tman and Apocalyptour and the logo rebrand, they kind of ditched the whole “we don’t really know what we’re doing but we’ll try anyway!” act that defined Starkid during its first few years (it’s ESPECIALLY present in the tours and it’s hilarious, yet so different; very TH-camr-ish, and they were really like rockstars) and fully owned up to the fact that they were a theatre company. So from then to now, there’s been a totally different vibe.
While there’s something so charming about that time, Starkid is still as awesome as it ever was, and it’s always exciting to see what’s next.
Fun fact: two years BEFORE Starkid was formed, future Starkid members got together to produce a season of a web series called Little White Lie (which was later uploaded to the SK TH-cam channel after the success of AVPM - they were releasing lots of things around that time), which was part of a contest, as I understand it, in hopes of getting the show picked up for a full series on Soapnet. The show is actually REALLY good despite its audio issues, and I highly recommend it. There are only 11 episodes and it ended on a cliffhanger! At SPACE Tour, Lauren and Brian acted like they were going to announce a second season as a fake out, disappointing everybody. But hey, they sang a good song.
They actually released a script for season 2 of LWL! I downloaded it when they released it and probably still have it somewhere it was fabulous

As far as I'm aware, Tyler is not in the others mainly because of where he was living and working at the time. After the potters, most of the shows were either in Chicago (where most of the cast lived) and now LA (where most of the Chicago cast has moved to bar I think like Mere and Bri, Denise and Rachel). Tyler has been in NYC for a long time. He's come back for the reunion shows though and has been on a few of the livestreams!

All the potter musicals are good, but this is great. So underrated because it’s the 3ed potter, but it’s still great. The best is Harry Potter sequel, second best is a very potter musical, and my least favorite was the senior year, even tho it’s really great.

honestly avpsy is one of my absolute favourites, i agree that act 1 drags a bit but it’s so beautiful, so unbelievably emotional yet also funny, it’s just-uh so good. i think it really showcases Darren’s talent; he had so little time to rehearse and he still performed absolutely amazingly. He’s so precious when he breaks character and you can tell how much fun they’re having. Also i love the subtle glee references, such as *”recently he’s been acting, rather QUEER”* and “you suck.” *”Ginny you know i’m self conscious about that!”* lol sorry for the long rant i just love it

So I was actually lucky enough to have been in the audience! With intermission the show was about 5 hours long. Honestly though, at least to me, it flew by. They cut a lot of stuff out, but it’s been so long I don’t really remember a lot of specifics. I believe at one point they released the script, don’t know if that’s still out there. Darren’s mic issues weren’t a live issue, we heard him just fine. Somehow his audio didn’t record so they had to go in and amplify his voice from other people’s audio. Also, Darren literally got to Chicago (where this took place) a couple hours before the show which I believe started at 1pm, and then had to leave immediately after to go back to Glee. Everyone else who didn’t live in Chicago was there maybe two days prior. It’s honestly amazing how well this turned out. When it was announced they said it would be a “staged reading”, but they went above and beyond.

When you’re done watching all of the Starkid musicals, I recommend watching Spy’s are Forever and Solve it Squad. A lot of Starkid actors are in them and they’re really good.

Fun Fact: StarKid held fan contests for some design elements for the show! None of them were used due to the time crunch when putting up the show, but they were super cool! That’s where we get Robert Manion from! He won the Harry/Draco battle song and one of the puppet designs. The song is on TH-cam, it’s really fun! Highly recommend checking it out!

There is also a joke behind the snickers joke. When they were doing the second Potter musical, Joe Walker asked Jim Povolo (who plays Goyle in this show) who was doing a snack run to grab a power bar because he needed something to eat and a little burst of chocolate. Jim decided to prank him and bought a snickers bar as well and tried to give it to Joe instead. Joe had already put on his full Voldemort makeup and costume and was getting into character so when Jim handed him a snickers bar instead, he reacted in character as Voldemort and thus this joke was made and kept in the final version of the script.

I think this was originally just supposed to be a stage reading of the script, no costumes or anything. The performance was Darren's first time seeing the costumes, so when he can't stop grinning and laughing at Hagrid, it's because he'd never seen him in the costume before. I loved watching him struggle not to break character and kind of failing. lol

So, the tea on the whole Bonnie situation (and believe me, there is *tea* ) is that she basically wanted to focus on getting married and raising a family, but something happened that caused a rift between her and StarKid, many speculating her religious beliefs did not gel with the profanity and some messages in the shows. She began to block people on Twitter and later deleted her social media. Other StarKids said some unfavourable things about her during Q&A's. However, somewhere down the line, they managed to put the past behind them, and Bonnie joined a bunch of other members for the 10th anniversary reunion concert, StarKid Homecoming, in 2019. This was her first show with them since AVPS in 2010. There was much rejoicing in the fan base, because no one had expected that she'd be back.

I remember two occasions one was in the 9th anniversary stream someone brought Bonnie up and I think someone said yikes (or something like that), and then in one of the live streams for TGWDLM Jamie was telling a story about how after graduation she told someone she thought she would never see Joe again (I think) but she would see Bonnie again (because they were very close) and she was like well we all know how that turned out. That is all I can remember and I don't know how factual it is, but I don't think anyone has ever straight-up insulted her.

when this show first came out it was such an emotional time. i was never really in the starkid fandom (although i've seen most of their shows) and was much more into glee at the time, but yeah, i very clearly remember the weekend this went up on youtube. everybody was a mess for days. and you're right, the last few scenes were very much about the rest of the kids coming right out and being like "yeah, darren's moving on, he's a star now, we're losing him and we're having to deal with it just as much as you guys are, we totally get it." it was kind of devastating.
incidentally, right after performing this darren had to go to new york and film the klaine breakup scene. what a great weekend for him, huh?

I cried at the end of senior year as well... because when you realize it's not Harry saying goodbye to Hogwarts, it's Darren saying goodbye to StarKid it's heart breaking. T_T
The star looked really cute! :) I just watched AVPSY the other day, I also cried during all the emotional lines and songs🥺
I do love senior year, but when they first released it I thought is was like a "dress-run" version and they would release a full version of the show later. It would still be nice to see them do the show in full at some point ^_^
It basically *is* a dress run, it just didn't go any further.
(Though given what I've heard about the schedueling, it's impressive it even got that far.)

I feel your love for Darren Criss to my core. Every time I think I’m over my obsession I see a show or video of him being amazing/talented/precious/hilarious/gorgeous and it just gets worse. It’s been going on for eleven years!
I think that you should watch Spies are Forever before you watch Black Friday, and hopefully before TGWDLM. it introduces not only new actors but also more serious characters for other actors. I think this would also help the understanding of the audience reactions in Black Friday for the actors coming out on stage. I really hope you see this message :)
@AmyLovatt THANK YOUUUUU SOOOOOO MUCH. I had been avoiding Starkid stuff because it looked cheesy and I was repelled by parodies. But then I saw your first review video I thought it was worth a try and now I am obsessed. LIKE OBSESSED. I love all the musicals and the actors and my new life goal is to make a UK region. Lockdown has been hard but the humour and passion of your videos and Starkid is just soooo...ugh..no words so happy. ;-)

You should def go watch the alternative version of 'Wizard Duel' composed by fan-turned-Starkid Robert Manion. He wrote it for a fan submission contest for songs to be used in the actual show, and it's INCREDIBLE, but they couldn't use it because it was too complicated to learn in 2 days!!
Fun fact, they had a contest for fans ho could submit songs for the show. One of the two of the winners was The Wizard duel but it didn't end up in show because it was to difficult for them to rehearse in such a short time (you can still find it on youtube tho, it's pretty great). Robert Manion who wrote it, started working with Team starkid and now he stars in their musicals :)
Actually, neither of the contest winners' songs ended up in the show. The person who wrote the "Get in My Mouth" winning entry was Eleanor Watts from England (you can hear her entry here: th-cam.com/video/hEFtBYhEz_g/w-d-xo.html ) but like Robert's entry, Clark and Pierce had already written a song by that point so their song was used instead.
From my understanding, Eleanor is primarily a classical vocal major (ie, opera.) and did musical theatre just as a casual hobby, so that's why she didn't majorly pursue the Starkid route like Robert did.

Fun facts, this is how they met Robert Manion, thru a contest to write songs and design characters for this show. He plays several background characters in Twisted, like Abdul or the 'he f---ed a tiger' guy ;) You should totally check out Robert's 'Wizard Duel', its the song he wrote that would've been the 'Tonight this school is Mine' song. Trust me, itll be a few minutes well spent!

you should definitely watch spies are forever by tin can brothers, it isn’t starkid but it has a lot of starkid members in it (and joe walker and joey richter both do english accents and not to be that person but.. it’s hot AF😂😂)
AVPSY is one of my favourite starkid shows. It's so underrated, which is a shame.

Also the reason why Evanna Lynch is in Senior Year is because when she was in Harry Potter she saw the musicals and was a huge fan and she went to the convention and Starkid asked her if she wanted to be in the play read. Starkid helped her with her anorexia too!!
A Very Potter Senior Year`s actually great. It got amazing songs and amazing performances from all the cast members. Even though I only watched it for the first time last year it was still very emotional for me. It`s even more emotional now having seen Starkid Homecoming where all the old and new Starkid members reunited and spend the second half of the show singing Potter songs.
I'm so happy you liked this one! It's one of my favorites! Let me give you some context for this show and why they made this one so emotional and why there's so much talk of "this is the end" and "everything ends" and Voldemort's whole speech in the epilogue.
This was done in 2012 at LeakyCon, the year after the last Harry Potter movie came out. Every year before that, the fans at LeakyCon always had something to look forward to whether it was a new book release or a new movie release. This was the first year there would be no new content and everyone was worried that the Harry Potter fandom would die. The hp fandom felt like home for a lot of people and it was very hard for people to deal with the uncertainty of the future of the fandom.
In addition to that, like you've already guessed, it was also emotional because this was the last show in the Very Potter Musical trilogy. Fans had been asking for years about a "threequel" and they kept responding that it cannot happen because everyone is all over the country and it would be almost logistically impossible. When they announced that it would actually happen, it felt like a miracle.
This show is addressing not only Starkid fans about the "end of an era" as you mentioned but also the Harry Potter fans. When I finished watching this for the first time, it felt like, even though we had no idea what would be the future of either of these fandoms, everything would be alright.
